[Software] LDCad - LDraw cad
legolijntje replied to legolijntje's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I can't see any real difference, except that my parts library is located a little different than yours. That shouldn't matter though. Still, you could try to move the parts library out of LDCad's own folder, maybe there's a bug Have you tried running LDCad as administrator? -

I don't think so, it works fine here... -
Master parts list / catalog
legolijntje replied to knotian's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The Brickset part catalog might be a little incomplete because it uses Lego's own database which sometimes is a little incomplete (and I believe it only includes part from ~2000 until now). The Bricklink or Rebrickable databases on the other hand, are as complete as you can get. I don't know which parts you can't find but I'm 100% sure they're in the Bricklink and Rebrickable databases (unless they're not Lego parts ). Maybe you can give an example? -
[TC7] Enforcers - Van Helising
legolijntje replied to D3K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Those guns look badass! I like the model. It does "feel" like less quality than you usually make, but that's probably also because you made this one in a very short timeframe. Quite nice nontheless -
I believe I've seen a few people on the Dutch LUG (LowLUG) selling complete collections succesfully. I don't know though if I remember it correctly and if it's still allowed in the selling section of that forum. About selling a collection in general, either in sets or all at once: it depends if you want "quick" money, or "more" money. If you sell all sets at once (if you'll find a seller), you're done in a relative quick timeframe. If you sell everything set by set, it might take more time to sell everything (and it might even be very difficult to sell some sets, you never know), but you might end up with more money in the end. Just wondering though (you don't have to go into detail), are you selling it because you don't want it anymore, or you need the money for something more important?

Your Best Technic Bargains
legolijntje replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There was a short pricing error on the belgium S@H, they were selling the rechargable battery box for €15 instead of €55. Luckily I have some friends in Belgium which were willing to have the package shipped to them. I tried ordering 6 of them, but my order got cancelled because they didn't have enough due to a lot of interest in the item. I tried ordering 2 instead, and they suddenly had enough. So, I got 2 rechargable battery boxes for only €30 -
Well, I believe that's actually a bug. Superkalle created a piece of software a while ago for Calabar and me to manage and generate the LDD index and LDraw index. It's also possible to enter software and software version in the database. Calabar uses that to show the LDD version that's being used (because parts differ in different LDD versions). The software and software version appear in between the < >. I don't use that version (since the software and software version don't matter as long as it is LDraw), but it still displays the <>. It can probably be fixed or removed, but... yea... Now that I think of it, it can probably be used to note if the model is 100% complete. Would that be useful? If the index shows if a model is 100% complete?

[Software] LDCad - LDraw cad
legolijntje replied to legolijntje's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It is possible to add points in between the start and the end with the parts you mentioned. A while ago, I was thinking the same as you did, but I figured that it depends on the fact if you have the start or the end selected while pressing "insert". LDCad will always insert a new point after the currently selected point. So if you have the end selected (with the red "ball"/"lever") it will insert a new point after that one, which makes the part "longer". If you select the start (with the green ball/lever), it will insert a new point after the start, which is in between the start and the end. Phew, that's a vague sentence. I hope you understand me -
Another index update. Yippie! It looks like more and more themes are getting more and more complete. If anyone wants to know which sets are missing from a certain theme, let me know. I can look it up for you. Just a quick note: I'm going on holiday next 2 weeks, so I'll be a lot less active. But I'm 100% sure you guys won't make a mess of this topic. Right...? Thanks everyone! BMW i8 Spyder
legolijntje replied to Sheepo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Am I the only one who is missing the gearbox (a bit) I always found your gearboxes quite interesting, because they were remote controlled. Manual gearboxes are nice, but quite... useless, because you can't really see the difference. However, with the remote controlled ones from you, it is actually "useful". Let me be clear: I don't really miss it in this car, it has an amazing amount of features and it's not really missing a gearbox. I just mean, it would be nice to see a car at this scale from you with a remote controlled gearbox -
Very nice review, Rishab The text has actual content (and is not just filler text) and your images look very nice. I personally have never built this model, but while I was working on the instructions, I was already expecting some weak spots. Nevertheless, the looks of this thing make up a lot, it looks amazing Also, after reading your review, I was actually expecting a lower score. This may sound strange (because I've made the instructions and really like the model), but I maybe even would've given it a little lower score because of the instability. Anyway, nice review and nice model!

You can use this piece of "code": 0 !LPUB PLI BEGIN SUB xxxxx.dat yy 0 !LPUB PART BEGIN IGN part.dat part.dat part.dat 0 !LPUB PART END 0 !LPUB PLI END Where xxxxx.dat is the ldraw part number of substituted part (in this case the complete joint, it's somehwere in the library) and yy is the LDraw color of that part. And in the between the BEGIN and END, you can put all the parts which should be ignored (I left the positional info/numbers out of the example, for the sake of simplicity). What this does is, it ignores the parts in between commands and only showes them in the model. The substituted part is what's being shown in parts lists. I use this mainly for joints, electrical stuff (such as wires or motors) and flexible parts (such as flex-axles and belts). EDIT: the same technique is also explained here, but with a different example.

[Software] LDCad - LDraw cad
legolijntje replied to legolijntje's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I don't know if there's a button/key for that, but what I always do is just select a piece that's already in a "normal" position. Btw, if you're building a Technic model (which I suppose you're doing ), pressing "O" on your keyboard when you have a piece with a weird angle/position selected reveals an amazing feature that I love so, so much. I don't know if you knew about it already, just a tip -
[Software] LDCad - LDraw cad
legolijntje replied to legolijntje's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I just came across . It's a simple tutorial created by Pley.com for their ongoing contest. It seems they're using LDCad in their tutorial. It's actually a pretty nice tutorial for beginners (apart from the bit at the end about the contest). -

[MOC] Swingloader Mk IV
legolijntje replied to D3K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks quite nice. I do have the feeling though that the swingloader is a little bit too small compared to the pneumatic cylinders. Especially in the front, where the cylinders basicly block the view from front-window -
Akiyuki's Cup-to-Cup GBC
legolijntje replied to djm's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That would be fantastic indeed. And, I don't just mean a bunch of GBC instructions, but a pile of GBC modules (not only Akiyuki's) instructions all with the same visual style. Ah well, we can always dream @djm: Good luck with creating the instructions! I personally know it can be quite some work If you have any questions about it, you can leave them here. -
[MOC] The Mistress
legolijntje replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice work. I really like the curve on the roof when looking from the top. The way the front-window transforms into the back of the car. -
If you're coming from SR3D Builder, I can really recommend to turn on part snapping. I believe it's off by default. Also, if you had sr3d camera-mode set on "ldd-like", you can set the camera-mode in LDcad on trackball-mode.

Woosh! There goes my money! I really like this set, it's the full package. A huge number of parts, many manual and motorized features, PF, actuators, pneumatic, new parts, nice astheatics. I'm really going to buy this. This is a nice 2H for Technic. I bought none of the sets last year (they were not bad, but I wasn't that happy about them either), but this year... The blue crane also has my attention. Are you going to review it too, Jim? Thanks Jim!

@Darats: I'm noticing this for a while now: almost all the models you're posting are error-free. They include all the prints/stickers. I'm wondering: are you making them all by yourself or are there just more printed parts in the LDraw library than I though?
