Did you really had to make me more jealous than after reading your article?! But seriously, nice video.

D3K's MOCs

You can also sent the (complete) CAD file to me, I'll gladly transform it into building instructions At least, if the model works without any problems. You've never showed a physical version (right). I don't want to 'waste' my time on instructions for a model that doesn't work (properly) -
[MOC] Dump Truck 8x8

Haha. Good luck with that! How many parts does the model have? -
Try LDcad. It does have a snapping feature (although by default it's turned off) and it feels and works a lot more modern than MLcad. If you like LDD, make sure to turn on SPN camera mode instead of TBL camera mode too. If you have more questions regarding LDcad, MLcad, LDD etc. feel free to ask them here

Not just you! Thanks Sariel, for the interesting and funny read! Nice! Btw, could you maybe tell if the employee store prices are above or below 50% of retail prices. Just wondering

No problem! It was a few seconds of work really You've probably seen the handles/levers with a red dot and a green dot in LDcad when working with flexible parts. Well, they (simply said) control the curvature of the part in that spot, for how long they follow their own path before following the path of the next control point. I've minimized the two at the 'bottom' of the rubber band, forcing them to almost immediately follow the next control point. What happened in your model was that the first control point tried to follow its route, but too far (past the next control point). So, the rubber hand had to 'turn around' to follow the next control point. Well, that's maybe a weird explanation. In any case, don't forget the green and red dots when working with flexible parts in LDcad, or alternatively go in the properties of a control point (press the box with the XYZ coordinates) and set the "previous control point" and "next control point". General tip for LDcad; I hope you've turned on part snapping And personally I find SPN (spin) mode easier to work with than TBL (trackball) mode, it's more like LDD.

When I scrolled through your models, I was like " he made the knots!?". Nice work! EDIT: I also fixed your weird rubber bands. Temporarily download here.

Well, it could be very well the thuth that it was deliberate. However, it's a very strange decision to 'fix' their issues by changing the shifting order instead of re-designing the gearbox. I mean, they claim they worked on the Porsche for 3 years. And they still end up with a bad-working gearbox. Technic fans are able to create better working gearboxes, even without the newly created pieces that TLG put in it...

I believe the B model if often made by a different designer than the A model. -
In case some of the people that go to Billund still read these questions: There is a lot of discussion about the Porsche, especially (and mainly) the gearbox. People find that it's running poorly, that is has 4 reverse gears and that is has a wrong shifting order (1-3-2-4). TLG also released this statement about the shifting order in the Porsche. It says it was deliberate to improve the behavior of the gearbox. It seems people are divided between whether TLG is telling the (weird) truth or that it tries to save cost (errata and stuff like that) by telling that it was deliberate. In any case, I was just wondering. The Porsche instructions proudly claim that it took 3 years of work to get this set done. And it still ends up with a 'bad' gearbox. At the same time, other builders are able to create (relative) smoothly working gearboxes, that are in the correct order, have the correct amount of reverse gears and are sometimes even remote controlled. Even while using pieces already in existence (the Porsche uses new pieces in the gearbox). I'm wondering (and here's the actual question): was it really not possible to create a better gearbox in those 3 years? Just like the 'hobby-builders'? Was there a deadline and was the build rushed in the end (although if it was, they'd probably not tell )? Now, I know that it's probably a question that they're not 'allowed' to answer or something, which I understand. But, I'm more interested in if some of the Technic designers are willing (and allowed) to share some thoughts regarding the Porsche and especially the gearbox.

Very nice review Jim! While I do like this set and I'm probably going to buy it anyway, I think I'm more looking forward to the Claas set than the Porsche

Ok, finally another index update! Thanks everyone for all the models and also welcome to the new contributors Btw, it seems the alternative statistic is broken, cause marco9999 added way more than 14 Technic B models... 42056 - Porsche Speculation
legolijntje replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The hell. Everyone and their grandma is getting a review sample or what? That's why the Porsche is so expensive. Halve of their customer-base already has one, so they have to compensate -

A lightbox script doesn't make the image smaller. You still have to provide your own thumgnails though.
