    MOC - Friends Modular Building

B-OM-34A Hello, I was hesitating for quite some time before posting this as it's my first my first MOC since probably around 1980 and as you can see my photography skills are obviously not that great. Plus a lot of stuff is just simply copied straight from the sets. But I figured, what the hey, someone might enjoy it and hopefully I've figured out how to post the pics here. This is one is made using parts from the first wave of Friends sets and a couple of pick a brick cups. Peter and Anna had a mid-life crises and left their middle management jobs and home in the suburbs to follow their passions in the heart of Heartlake City. Peter has always had a love for hair styling and finally has opened his very own beauty parlor and Anna is exploring her deep love of pastry cooking in the space below. Having no commute has really freed up a lot of time in their lives to perfect their talents. Sorry for the non-LEGO Pinky Pie, but she couldn't resist Anna's cupcakes ! If these pics don't show up, here's a link to the flikr page: http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/

    MOC: Psychiatrist Office

B-OM-34B I had this facade sitting on on the table as a WIP for a couple of months. It was based on a bank in Brisbane, but I couldn't figure out how to make it fit a 32-wide baseplate. It didn't do the bank building justice as a 16-wide, so I decided it was going to be professional offices of some sort, and eventually came up with the idea to fit it out as a psychiatrist's office. I was stuck for ideas on how to do the back. I wanted to make a garden, but that would have looked out of place. I ended up filling the empty space with my first attempt at a "Mark of Falworth" tree (thank you for the tutorials!). I think I need a lot more practice. Ideas for what should go at the back of a non-residential building are welcome! A look at the reception on the ground floor: And the office on the first floor: More photos on flickr. Comments and suggestions welcome.

    [MOC] WIP Modular Townhouse

Hey guys, I'd like to introduce my WIP Townhouse MOC. With a complicated financial situation ATM, I turned to LDD to start creating something on my own. This is at the same time my first LDD and first modular MOC (but It's 4 story high). The outside is pretty much done, but I'm still not happy with the roof. I'm working on the inside (furniture is OK, but need some more stuff). I'll be glad to have your feedback on that, I do plan to build it for real when I can afford to. The pics are so-so, I'll try to do it better tonight.

    MOC: Streamline moderne shop

Hi everyone! Here is a quick build I made after returning from the US in the summer where I got a little inspiration. It gave me a chance to use some techniques which I wanted to use a long time ago. I wanted to use lots of classic streamline moderne elements and styles. Its a shop selling clothes for ladies. I mainly wanted to concentrate on the fascia of the building so didn't bother making it completely modular like previous builds. There is a few more pics on here http://www.flickr.co...s/52656812@N04/ Comments welcome!

  6. Introducing the Rust-eze factory, which is where they make the rust remover / chrome restorer product Inspired by / not quite the same as the one seen in the CARS & PLANES shared universe from Disney / Pixar . I have set this building in my transition-era layout, which means the 40's through the mid-1980's, as the steam / diesel mix era continued longer on my alt-timeline. Their is a small 0-6-0ST switcher that services the factory as seen above and here in it's own topic. The factory without the train in front. The rear of the factory, with the ladder to the top of the chimney flue. The detachable roof can be removed, however I never really finished the inside part, and probably never will as I haven't a clue what to put in there machinery-wise. The loading doors do open, and were modified from the original arched doors as they couldn't fit a forklift... then again, these doors might not either! I was inspired by this photo by JB Lego to build these boxcars as seen here. They are made to haul pallets of cargo, specifically Rust-eze chrome restorer in 55-gallon drum containers for commercial packaging at another facility into smaller containers. This model was heavily inspired by set 8486, (Mack's Team Truck) from 2011. I changed the model to seat one mini figure at the wheel, added new headlights and license plate plus revised the fenders and enlarged the cab. The rear of the semi features a opening door and fold-down trailer stand, while the cab has two moving driver's doors. The trailer no longer has opening sides, but it does have two opening rear doors and folding stand for when the cab pulls away. Speaking of the cab, the roof of the driver's compartment comes off and both doors open. I hoped this factory would be of some use for some people, as the original always has been gathering dust in the basement since it was built, as seen below: This is the original factory that was by my Dad around the years 2000 - 2004. it was built with parts from several Sand Red supplemental packs available at that time. It does not feature any interior, nor does it have a removable roof. But this thing is built STRONG: you have to really put your weight on it to press the roof together. Here is the rear of his model. Comments, questions, suggestions, and complaints are always welcome! EDIT 4/9/19: added real life photos of the factory.
  7. As a Lego fan, I am slowly starting to enter some grey age again. I can easily without my bricks, but when sale hits in, I'm getting pumped up again. Last weekend I saw the Diagon Alley set for €99, quite a bargain you should say, but because of my 'grey age' I left it on the self. But ideas kept crawling through my mind to turn these buildings into some modular buildings. For inspiration, I browsed through the Google and stumpled upon this site with some photos of the Harry Potter Tour in London. So I opende up LDD and started building. As Ollivanders is one of the most iconic buildings of Diagon Alley, I started with this one. I'm really pleased with the round windows (and the door in between). But I got stuck on the roof, so it's just 10217's Ollivanders roof for now. Then I started with a rather common building for Diagon Alley, that I turned into Quality Quidditch Supplies. Here are some printscreens straight from LDD (should try that render plug in sometime soon to make the pics a bit more attractive) As you can see I used a lot of bricks that are actually in 10217, as I wanted to experiment with the bricks in the set (of course I'll add the required parts from my own collection) But I'm in doubt, does this moc have the potential to be brick build, if so I buy the official set this Saturday, or should I just leave it with the LDD.. In any case I would like to have some feedback on the build itselfs, especialy on the rooftops and the best colour for the Quidditch shop to go with the green. Thanks in advance

    Coastguard HQ Modular Building

My last update for my City layout project was way back in July, however this is not due to me doing nothing but the exact opposite. I have spent the past few months building the Coastguard HQ building, I have not shown any progress as wanted to wait till it was complete until I revealed it. The building is based on the Fire Station Modular Building. To start with the building has the same colour scheme from the 2008 Coastguard City sub theme, this made the building very interesting when building it as not everything comes in orange. Also the building is built across two baseplates a blue 32×32 one and a road one that is used in most large City buildings like the recent police station. This meant a building challenge in getting the look right and also fitting it on to the base plates. I built the building first on LDD and I rebuilt it a few times until I was happy with it, the original plan was to have to buildings back to back and connect but I decided to build one large building. The building is double the depth of normal modulars but they will still sit next to the building at the road side leaving a 32×16 gap at the back. So if I extend outwards I can add more dockside behind the other buildings. For more details see here: http://brickfanatics...-coastguard-hq/
  9. I have always admired 'Sonicstarlight's' Medevil Market Pub. A lot of people did the same and the topic kept popping up. I asked him if i could reproduce his buildinng for my own town and he didn't mind and even offered help. The one thing he asked was, that i showed him te finished building. Well.... It isn't finished yet, but ready for publicing. I only have to include an interior to the top floor, Well, here is the front of the building. I chose to use different color windows. I now see that a poor boy fell down in front of the entrence, and there is no one to help him. Maybe i am in need for a hospital in my town. Here is the back of the building A closer look as the front. This is a part of my Rathaustrasse in Bricksterdam. This building will be placed next to my Sushi Bar. The entrence to the bar in close-up And the entrance to the gentelmans club on the first floor Hé, Someone did pick up the little boy. Hope he isn't hurt. The inside of the bar. A lot of people there. I kept Sonicstarlights Jukebox, because i think it was a masterpiece. The Second floor, a Gentleman's Club, with Pooltable and Soccertable. (I didn't catch Sonicstarlights Soccertable, but content wit the result though) The third floor is not finished yet on the inside. I have had until this moment no idea what to put into it. Has anyone an suggestion for me? This is all i have on the inside at this moment On the roof i made a few alterations. I saw the golden trident and wanted to use it, this is the result. Next to this building will also be one of Sonicstarlights buildings, the Butchershop. This is how far i have come with it. I hope you will like my effort and as always, i am open for suggestions en remarks from all of you. Thanks people, for the source of inspiration you all are. I love this Forum.
  10. The single track tunnel was made by my father back in 2000. I updated / extended it, made a two-track version, took off the baseplates, and put the pins in. Here are the pictures: The two tunnels. These are the basics, and you can modify them however you want, such as hiding them under green plates or BURPs & LURPs. Double track, with the connecting pins. Single track, also with some pins. NOTE: Connecting the tunnels will only work in this way or some variation of this type. For example, here is a picture of what can be done. Notice the one track section in front of the tunnels? (In the case of single to double tunnels , four should be used.) That is to make sure if your engine overhangs, it will swing clear. EDITED 9/5/21: added photos back to the post. I finally found them on my Flickr from 2012.. The file, however, is lost to time.
