Myers Lego Technic replied to Werlu Ulcur's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@dr_spock My Rebel has some good manual functions, (Shutter speed, focus, etc.) but could have more. In my setup I was purely looking for information about lighting, shadows, Photoshop, etc. currently I have been using adobe elements, and finding it OK., -

Hello all! I was wondering about your preferences of cameras and lenses in Technic photography. I am currently using a Cannon E0S Rebel T5 with a 50-250mm telephoto lens for taking pictures from 5' + away from the model. Is this a similar setup top what you all would use? I have invested in a tripod and it is going quite well for me, but would you suggest changing anything in my setup? different lenses or distances? Thank you. Sincerely, -Myers Lego Technic -

Strong, Robust Open Differential
Myers Lego Technic replied to PorkyMonster's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wouldn't the four knob wheels cause a lot of unneeded friction? THree with a separator taking the place of the fourth would be plenty strong for almost all applications. -

It would have been nice if your hood could have had the same downward curve of the real one...but overall NICE WORK! It is very recognizable and I lover the front headlights. One thing though, I am just a bit bothered by the lift-arm over the engine- you made such a nice engine you should show it off in its entirety! -Myers -

Myers Lego Technic replied to halfnine's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@halfnine WOW! I Didn't start wit Technic until I was eight..... I'm sure he will look back and appreciate the practice he is getting now- leading to a better advancement of skills that could be applied in later life, from a fine motor to even a basic automotive engineering- I'm sure this will help him surpass other children his age, and later I'm sure he will thank you for the immersion. (P.S. @RohanBeckett God, He has nicer pneumatic pieces than I do...) -

42041 Race Truck RC
Myers Lego Technic replied to Supermike's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is looking pretty good! You have placed the BB in a surprisingly common location for this sort of model, and I think it would be difficult to place it in any other location as it would require exstensive remodelling of the chassis. Overall, quite nice. I think if you really want the BB to be less conspicuous then you could try removing some of the liftarms and supports and move the BB farther into the cab. NIce work! -Myers -

[HELP] Controlling 3 driving rings at once
Myers Lego Technic replied to TheMindGarage's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@TheMindGarage The solution is relatively easy. While I am not entirely sure what you want, you can create a device that works off a very similar mechanism to Sariels unwieldy servo six speed with one reliable input. The way it works is heavily based on timing, but using the right gear pairings it can be surprisingly reliable. You simply need to connect the two mechanisms, the mechanism that slides the selector, and the switch. The axle which the switch rotates on should be connected on one end with a large lever, connected by a lift arm type connection between that lever and a smaller driving lever, allowing continual rotation of the input (small lever) for a back and forth movement (preferable 90*. Though governed by the lever sizes) of the large lever (output). The input axle rotating the small lever will be directly connected to appropriate down gearing depending on your previous lever sizes, connected then to a 90* limiter to the rotating lever connected by a steering link (like in sariels) to the Gear selector (selector switch). This will have the same three settings as sariels, but is of course attached to the 90* limiter which would allow for fast and reliable gear changes in selector position, timed to be taking place when the red selector is in the neutral position. This is a different version of the cam shown above. I hope this helps.- 13 replies
