LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

It looks like a nice set, and if it was an Agents set (for 20€ less), I would probably even buy it. But it just doesn't fit into my personal SW universe. Like the whole bunch of Rubbles so far.

    Comic con minifig registry

I prefer to spend my hard earned cash on multiple figures / sets instead of one expensive minifig. But I am pretty impressed by your collection, robuko! And I think it's nice that there are some holy grail collectable items for the hardcore fans.

2015 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

If there are new customers for police sets every couple of years, why not change the color scheme from time to time? I really liked the dark blue of the special police forces and here is hope for anything else than white and bright blue. Anything, really...
  4. I believe I watched one of the Transformers movies and I honestly couldn't tell what it was about. And I usually remember things. Anyway, I watched The Assassination of Jesse James ... and I was pretty surprised how good it was.
  5. I am not really a fan of the huge wing, cockpit and hull pieces. But I liked the raised base plates. And I like the hull sections from the pirate ships. I guess I just dislike all the giant pieces that came after 2000. And I can see the need for the floatable boat hull, and it's surely such a cool play feature, but once out of water, they are a tad too high in the water (you know what i mean..)
  6. The amount of statistics, research and market evaluation you have to deal with in marketing is close to rocket science. And even if the subject is a product that is aimed at children, seems fun and cheap, the level or intensity of the research is basically the same as in media, automotive etc. There are entire departments that only deliver massive amounts of numbers on a daily basis to the marketing department, which in the end are making the final decisions about the money spend and on what channels it is spread. Giving away free samples is a very common way of marketing in the fast moving consumer goods business (and I count toys towards these), many companies are doing that. On the other hand, having own brand stores is a two-edged sword. There are many opportunities but you also have to communicate the benefit of purchasing here - and probably ignoring the discount of other / online retailers. Luring people in your shop is done with eg. free samples or other benefits, ideally money-can't-buy benefits like building events. And having said all this, think about what the automobile industry has to spend on marketing to sell one car in the end - to one customer. There are easily several hundred € / $ spend on marketing for only a single purchase, and while there is no actual sample-in-a-bag in that business, there are many other, comparable methods that lead to your purchase decision. Oh and btw - I didn't get any free sample from Lego at the Nuremberg toy fair, but I got something from Playmobil!
  7. The final minifigs don't look too bad, especially the foot soldiers are great. But I'm not too sure about those sets / builds. The new lair is twice as expensive but despite being much bigger and having more pieces overall, I feel like there should have been another small vehicle, all 4 turtles or something outstanding been included.

    Review: 75038 Jedi Interceptor

"Let's try spinning, that's a good trick!" Sorry I had to... And I use the revival of your topic to say thank you for this review! I think it's a great little model and it was a good idea to launch the 30€ vehicles line. Out of the four models from January, this is by far my favorite, even without a landing gear. It's really too bad that they didn't continue the "great vehicles" sub-category for the summer sets, the Snowspeeder or an updated Cloud Car or T-16 would have been great additions to this line. Perhaps in the winter wave, who knows.

    Exo-Force in Ninjago?!?!

I hope one day EF is coming back. The mechs would be much more durable these days with all those new pieces now available.

Anyone else a little disappointed with 75050?

I saw the B-Wing in person at the toy fair and really liked it. But I didn't see it in landing mode, only standing up with the s-foils in attack mode. And to be honest, I still like it in that mode. Having had the 6209 I thought that the wings fold in the very same way, so I was seriously disappointed that they don't fold in the right way, way not close enough to the middle fin, which makes the model look really bad when in landing mode. So this is not on my list anymore, sadly - even if I was entirely convinced at the fair.

    [MOC] ISD Chimaera

This is amazing. I really enjoyed reading through your experiences building this, it was very interesting! Keep on doing what you're doing!
  12. ...the other way around for me I just love the postapoc style of the Dino 2010 line! Edit - Oh and btw, I don't expect a Jurassic World KreO line, only action figures / toys.
  13. I am glad the 'normal' minifigures are back, can't wait for October to come! The dino tracker and the battle goddess are stunning.

At first I thought it is great, but then I realized the actual size of this. Stunning. A piece of art.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

I concur about unreasonable pricing, but I usually have nothing against smaller vehicles. In fact, I would love to see a smaller Snowspeeder (too big and getting bigger with each version) or LAAT/i (seems to be a little too big for the minifigs). Still, the MTT is about to become the prime example that the SW tag, the minifigs and the unavailability on the shelfs sell LSW sets, not so much the design anymore. I'm always happy to upgrade, but for example I own the 4483 (first ATAT), and I didn't see any good reason to sell that and buy another ATAT. And anyone who owns the last MTT is going to laugh about the new one, I believe.
  16. Great review - thanks a lot for this! I am not yet sold on the set, I would have loved to see more space in the back or a separation function instead of the wingspan feature, as well as a ground control or some look alike friends for Benny. Also, I concur that the 4x4 technic parts under the wings look terrible.

    Future Star Wars Minifigs

Just the fact that the Lego version has a belly print as a normal girl used to have, with belly button etc. And the Arealight version seems to have her back as her front. You notice those lines resemble actually the muscles / shoulder blades a girl has on her back, not on her front? Or has anyone ever seen those 2 lines under the bikini top on a girl? Or the spine line instead of a belly button. Something went wrong here. Just saying... I prefer my female minifigs with untwisted physiognomy.

    Future Star Wars Minifigs

I think the new Cantina set didn't really go far enough, as they could have split it into at least 2 sets - the actual Cantina and the Landspeeder for example. I kind of liked the combination of all the Jabba sets, as you were able to get a squadron of great minifigs from those sets, especially from the combination of the Palace and the Skiff. I think they could have tried this as well for the Cantina and given us more minifigs. And I am not asking for many new molds, but would have been happy already with Wuher, Dr. Evazan, one of the sisters or whoever. Even another Jawa or Chewbacca would have been great. I can't help but feel that the Cantina is too empty and I seriously hope there is going to be another Mos Eisley set next year, but what should they do? There is not much left you could put into a set, seriously. Missed opportunity in my book.

2014 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

The ice breaker looks really nice - but doesn't it miss a crane of some sort to unload the boxes and vehicles? Don't tell me they have to start the heli for that...?

What is your favourite Super Heroes set?

I'm not a huge DC fan and I believe the old Batman technically don't belong to the Super Heroes line, but they were all better than the current versions. I especially liked the Batcave and the Two Face truck. The new Arkham is a great set, but also expensive. I'm more a Marvel guy and here I like the sets from the movies, not the other stuff (especially not the Spider-Man sets but I'm not a huge fan of him anyway). My favorite is the upcoming Milano ship, I can't wait to get this. At first I was really sceptic, having seen an early version but now it looks amazing and the interior convinced me entirely. Good sets are also the Malibu beach house (I like all the nods to IM1&2 and it's at a good price point) and the Avengers truck (best truck design ever with cool minifigs).

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion

Now remember what they did with the Hulk promo fig? It would not only be a nice move to have a minifig scale Groot, I would absolutely prefer this over the brick built one, which is just way too big.

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion

Someone might have said this before, but could it be that 76022 X-Men vs. The Sentinel is really expensive? There is no big fig on board, nor many specialized bricks or prints, and yet it is $50 for 336 pieces? And you might think that's harsh, here comes the bad part: The 50$ from 76018 Hulks Labor Smash translate into 60€! I am sorry but I saw the X-Jet on the level of Malibu Mansion (364 pieces, 5 minifigs, 40$ = 40€). There is something seriously wrong here.

    [75059] Sandcrawler

Lego sure thinks we are short of brown bricks & plates = Sail Barge, Ewok Village, Sandcrawler It is a great set and playset, but I don't see myself spending 300€ on this, especially as the exclusives don't get a discount around here. For this money I could buy so many smaller sets on discount, and there are a few coming out this year. What I probably appreciate the most is the new packaging for this, no Darth Mauls or Yodas distracting from the fact that it is an OT set. But the fact that the scene from the movie is now set at sundown is pretty irritating for me. I mean, the model, the characters, the scene - everything is taken so accurately from the movie, and then it's not at broad daylight? This is so weird. Also, it would have been nice to see a Krayt dragon skeleton in this set, but you sure can't have everything.

Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion

So many great sets coming out this year, and Lego is especially keen on the nerds money. If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, many sets are a dream come true this year: Bennys Spaceship, Mos Isley Cantina, Star Destroyer, Agents Tron vehicle, The Simpsons house, Marvel sets, Hobbit sets, the Turtles lair. But I feel this one here is special, or at least to me it is.
