Like I'm not a fan of the helmet hole clone troopers but at least that has functionality, the stormtrooper helmet was perfect and they changed it for no reason. I'd rather have 2018 rebel helmets back than these. I guess it's a thing where only hardcore fans care, so it doesn't effect sales numbers or anything. Quote

Yeah, I know a lot of people have strong feelings about it, I just mean that clearly those feelings aren't something Lego's going to listen to. If they were going to do something, they would have back when the backlash was strongest, or shortly after. It's been long enough that we can assume they decided the few people actually avoiding sets because of the new helmets aren't statistically significant enough to swap back. 8 hours ago, Llewop said: We moan about the landspeeder and clones and constant x wing and tie but really it’s nothing compared to every Batmobile and version of Batman we don’t really have much to complain compared to DC fans Yup. The way I'd put it is that while we grouse about the X-wing and TIE (And I guess the landspeeder but honestly that one's kind of dropped off frequency wise), the current DC situation would be like if literally every single star wars set this year was an X-wing. Literally all of them, and they only came with specific rebel pilots, no imperials. Or if every single set was a clone battle pack and they didn't even bother to give us jedi generals or battle droids. 1 hour ago, BrickBob Studpants said: For instance, only the Mustafar Duel is currently said to come with an anniversary figure. I'm sure they will to some extent, but at least the way I'm reading that mustafar duel bit it sounds like "this is the only one we know" rather than "we know the others don't". Obviously the super pack shouldn't and I don't think Anakin's fighter has room for one, but the Y-wing has a solid shot, same with Bespin if it's a playset. 43 minutes ago, betaplayer said: I must say, I'm quite excited for the Bespin Duel... Can't imagine those sets would sell less than a maxifig or "Darth Vader Art". Same here! It's weird that we've never actually gotten a dedicated Bespin Duel playset. Cloud City included it 23 years ago, but as a small part of a larger set (and lego's entire design philosophy has changed since then). Similar thing with MBS cloud city- though it's more recent, the duel section is also tiny and MBS style. The only dedicated duel set we've ever had was the incredibly limited-release and aftermarket expensive display set in 2020. The Luke/Vader duel is iconic and has a lot of rooms to it, while the rare times the scene gets represented with lego we just get that final room. I'm interested to see the play features they put here and if they include the carbon-freeze chamber, which if it's an $80 playset there's a good chance of. Of course, it could always be the return of dioramas, which would be a little less exciting for me personally since I was lucky enough to get a copy of bespin duel from the target limited release, but still a welcome addition- I remember how big of an uproar it was that the 2020 set wasn't widely availible. Same here. I've been going back and forth a bit on the ewok, but you're right- if we put the repeatable figs here, they can eschew any commandos or imperials in the village and give us more ewoks there. The 18+ sets are always going to draw flak (often for good reason), but to be honest only two 18+ in this wave is a win in theory. As for the sets themselves.. it's too early to tell for the "darth vader art" given how much that could actually be, but I think there's a chance it ends up being pretty cool. Not that I wouldn't generally rather have a system set than display gimmicks, but I think there's a chance it could be something cool that beats a helmet or bust (watch it be one of those wall painting sets... ugh). The Luke Maxifig on the otherhand is something I think I despise. It may be the worst 18+ star wars subtheme we've had, I don't know the exact term to describe it, but something about a set slot being taken up by something representing lego itself that wouldn't fit in-universe bothers me. It's vaguely contradictory on my part since I love getting stuff like the 2008 battle pack remakes in 2024 and constantly advocate for us to get characters like Rebel Friend as GWPs, but it's just what I think. I don't need to be 100% logically consistent in my feelings about plastic toys. Quote

Kit Figsto Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Funny that there was just a discussion about the lack of Cloud City playsets, and now we're getting a playset based on CC! I'm curious to see how it's done - my hunch is that this is one of those situations where we're getting a description that may or may not actually match what we get ("Bespin duel" but it could include some additional areas, the Carbon Freeze chamber, etc). Assuming the price holds, there's no way that just the catwalk section is $80 (again, assuming the info is right and it's not a diorama), so it would pretty much have to include part of the freezing chamber and/or the room where Vader force throws stuff at Luke. If it's not a diorama, it would pretty much have to have at least 1-2 additional minifigures beyond just Luke and Vader - Lando, an Ugnaught, or an Imperial Officer seem most likely. I'm intrigued by the concept art minifigures. I have to say that the idea of LEGO throwback figures (similar to 2019) appeals more to me, but it makes sense that they're doing something non-LEGO here, as this is the 50th anniversary of SW, not anything LEGO specific, and they'll maybe do something like that again in 2029 for the 30th anniversary of LSW. There's always going to be a divide between people who have very old sets and those who weren't collecting a decade ago. I'm lucky enough to have the 2015 shuttle, so I won't take this particular update, but it's inarguably a nice build for those without one, and good that those who want a lambda now have the ability to get one first-party. And as it turned out, my fears were unfounded for january- no grogus, 501st troopers, or smart bricks in sight. Yup. I'm still a proponent of Lego making a few of the main vehicles (X-wing, TIE, Falcon, Mando's N-1) sets that last for a good 5 years, at least online. They've already done so with Mando's N-1, come to think of it. (I would also say there should always be A jedi starfighter and A clone battle pack on shelves (by which I mean A clone battle pack, not five hundred), but as those have a lot of different options, I would say they're good to just swap out which jedi's starfighter and which legion every 1.5 years) 1 hour ago, Kit Figsto said: Funny that there was just a discussion about the lack of Cloud City playsets, and now we're getting a playset based on CC! We just have to cross our fingers it's not a diorama. I agree with your analysis. It's also important to remember that the carbon freeze chamber is a pretty iconic part of their duel- that opening imagery of Vader standing there is one of the most well-known shots in the saga, as is them igniting their sabers- so while we've been conditioned by lego to think of bespin duel as that final catwalk, an $80 set probably includes the carbon freeze chamber and that middle area between them. Putting cloud city Lando in this set is the type of move that could make this the best 1HY wave of the modern era. I think even if everything ends up on the less exciting/interesting side, just from what we know it's already the best january of the modern era given we're actually getting five whole playsets. But this wave just has so much potential, man. Quote

Precisely. Different courses for different horses. You already own arguably the best play-scale Imperial Shuttle, so if you're not a completionist, Dagobert Duck in disguise, or have no specific minifigure itch to scratch, you're totally fine as is. I on the other hand missed the old one, so getting this one over a decade later on feels exciting and fresh, like a no-brainer. It's basically the same principle for Battle Packs, just for minifigures instead of builds. 22 minutes ago, Mandalorianknight said: And as it turned out, my fears were unfounded for january- no grogus, 501st troopers, or smart bricks in sight. Which is a terrific transition to what I wanted to post next anyways. Even though, I would have been fine with a single ANH wave, which can obviously still happen, I'm somewhat relived that it isn't. The idea of concept art figures, as often speculated in here before, is interesting to me. This ain't no ordinary anniversary, so it might ask for a truly unique way to celebrate it. Unless they're including the wrong version, aka TCW General Skywalker, Anakin's Jedi Starfighter will be an easy purchase to get things started for the new year. A regular Duel of Bespin getting made after all is surprising. Does that mean they're now two of them? The price seems to indicate there's more to it than your usual Duel set. Would be hilarious if Cloud City Lando is right around the corner after recent discussions. Or if it's just a couple of additional rooms the Duel took place in. Or the return of the Diorama Collection. Another Duel of Mustafar sounds nice. But the supposedly included anniversary figure makes me think there won't be another one included at all. Which would be a missed opportunity to finally get pregnant Padmé or like you said... an actual Separatist leader. An actual Endor based Battle Pack again... freaking finally. Now please get the minifigure line-up right. Don't waste any precious slots with Ewoks, those will probably fill up the Village already. At that price the Bespin Duel should be a relatively decent size, and hopefully it will include at least the corridor section in addition to the gantry! Also, the Y-Wing could be on my shopping list if it isn't wrecked by the 'downsizing' that a lot of playscale sets have suffered from in the last few years. It could be something really special if it's done well, especially with all of the new parts that are now available. Quote
Kit Figsto Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I'm also looking forward to seeing what they do for the Mustafar duel. By my count, this'll be the third time we've had it in a set (Anakin's green starfighter that came with the floating platforms doesn't count) and both were fairly different in how they represented the scene, but ultimately had the same idea (dueling platforms controlled by two people). The $20 set from...2019(?) or whenever that was ended up being a pretty cool little set, so I'll be curious if this one expands upon that at all. Quote

I got the last one but I want the figures haven’t decided yet if I’ll take the plunge. in general I’m in a place now where if I’ve got it already the new version has got to be better to justify me buying it. The exception for that rule is a snowspeeder, a Jedi starfighter and apparently now AT-RTs got snowspeeders and AT-RTs in at least 3 different themes/colours. Jedi starfighters I’ve got about a trillion of the buggers. Still buy Anakins one day one as I prefer the ETAs to the others. Lego could easily have a new Jedi starfighter and clone legion bp for 5/6 years before they start running out of ideas can even swap between the ETA and Delta year by year. Unless it's the diorama return, I think it has to be all the rooms, and resultingly I think there's a good chance we do get Lando. I guess yeah, I think we had part leaks from the christmas bespin. But it doesn't really matter- we had the gingerbread AT-AT last year and the big one this year, it's not like Bespin can't do the same. I would love it if they finally managed to sneak Wat Tambor in here, but you're right that at $40 I think 3 figures is probably the max. I can't imagine they're already bumping the normal pack from $23 to $30. The jump to $23 already happened too soon after the $15-20 one- I think we only ever had 4 battlepacks at the $20 price- a total 50% increase over two years is just too little. Yup. Right- and yeah, just keeping one on shelves is fine. I believe right now there's 3 at most retailers, not even counting the super packs. 2 hours ago, Lobot said: It's been quite a while since I've actually looked forward to a new wave of sets, but this sounds very promising! The concern is that since people will want to army-build the endor pack, a bunch of the same ewok would look weird- especially since the way they make them with a single piece for the face/torso fur/hood, you can't really mix and match parts on them. The idea is if the super battle pack has all the generic troopers, space is saved for the village to have a number of unique ewoks filling it out. I think mcquarrie Chewbacca is a given, since the Zeb mold is back. Vader and Luke (the one with the yellow saber and breathing mask) are also safe bets as they're the most common mcquarrie merch. I actually do think the stormtrooper is likely- lego isn't opposed to unique molds for anniversary figures, and this one actually would be re-usable for TK troopers. The final fig(s)- I assume there will be at least five- are less clear to me. I'm 50/50 on boba- on the one hand, he's the only mcquarrie figure lego's made- twice, in fact- so clearly they have an affinity for the design. But on the other, he's not part of the ANH concept art, which I imagine is the inspiration here. Only things that really stand out to me in a bad way are 'Darth Vader Art" and Luke maxifig... why? One of those could have been a Tie avenger Me three on the Battlepack minifigs. 4 imps vs 2 rebels would be the best case scenario imo. Stay strong brother. It’s not over yet. 4 minutes ago, Mandalorianknight said: We know lego looks at secondhand prices, so I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason for Bespin Duel's price point is to include CC Lando. Great. Now I’m hoping they’ll incorporate Lando’s cape closet from the Skywalker Saga level into the build. 16 minutes ago, brimbolet said: I'm astonished that so few care about having an Ewok in the Endor BP; I think their help was absolutely essential for the rebels' success so 1 minifig is an absolute minimum in a BP for that price (should have 6 figs in total). Could be my favorite BP ever if done right. If this was the only Endor set I’d be on board with including an Ewok. But the fact is that both a Ewok Attack and Ewok Village set are supposed to also be coming, so there’ll be no shortage of Ewoks. And another thing is that imps and normal rebels are in desperate need of an army builder currently. I hope we get January fig lists soon. Maxbaut evidently knew about the full Marvel ones so hopefully he can also slip us the Star Wars ones. Quote
Kaijumeister Posted June 12 Posted June 12 (edited) This really is a peak-sounding wave. And just to put things into perspective, we haven’t had a substantial playset-based winter wave since 2020. General thoughts: - Can’t believe the McQuarrie figs are happening. It’s the perfect way to celebrate a 50 year milestone and much, much better than golden minifigures. Shoutout to everyone who first speculated / wished for these in the wishlist thread. As Qui-Gon once said, you guys can see things before they happen. - We have seen since 2024 that the Lego Star Wars Team have truly upped their game when it comes to location-based playsets, my hopes for Duel on Mustafar and Bespin are therefore quite high. Price-point wise, Mustafar seems to be similar to the Paz Viszla vs. Moff Gideon Duel, and this time I’m expecting a combined build of part of the Separatist Command Centre and some lava terrain. Bespin should be a pretty awesome playset with multiple segments. - FINALLY Anakin’s Delta-7b. I don’t have faith that they’ll redo the build from the ground up to be smaller and sleeker, but I’m at least expecting an awesome General Skywalker minifigure. I do think they’ll also include either Dooku, a Magnaguard, or P1 Captain Rex here. - I really hope the RotS Anakin and Obi-Wan figures get updated. A new hair piece for Anakin’s mullet especially would be fantastic. Overall a great sounding wave. I wonder if we’ll get a combined merch push for Ahsoka S2 and Starfighter with another ‘Force Friday’ like we got with Triple Force Friday in 2019 with the release of TRoS, Mandalorian, and Fallen Order. And yes, I would say for sure the best January of the modern era. I hope they at least do something different than the two platforms and lava. 1 hour ago, CloneCommando99 said: If my theory is correct, any predictions for the TPM set? Renny The Spaceman Posted June 13 Posted June 13 So we've got a pretty good chunk of the 2027 spread across these leaks. From the Smart Brick, the ones thought to be this year and this most recent leaked sets. Might not be much more than Starfighter sets left. And do you know what I'm noticing? No clones. Really think 2025 was pretty much doing whatever they had left in the tank and moving on. Quote

Dooku hasn't been around for such a long time that he deserves his own set, so the 3rd figure will probably be on of the McQuarries concepts, I think. Quote
BrickPrick Posted June 13 Posted June 13 18 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: Isn't TCW General Skywalker the only one to fly the Delta? (Not to mention, I think it's the best choice for it. Aside from the fact that a maroon-and-navy TCW robe anakin has been long-requested, we'll be getting his Epll and Eplll sets in 2027 as well, so this would mean instead of a repeat we get all three of his major adult variants.) Unless it's the diorama return, I think it has to be all the rooms, and resultingly I think there's a good chance we do get Lando. Right- and yeah, just keeping one on shelves is fine. I believe right now there's 3 at most retailers, not even counting the super packs. Yeah, that's how I remember it. But speaking from experience, what is accurate in-universe and how Lego actually executes it can be two things entirely. But considering we don't get anything beyond the usual Jedi + R2 Jedi Starfighter combo, I'm cautiously optimistic that they indeed give us the best possible General Skywalker minifigure. I honestly would prefer that over a third figure and a reused Anakin from 2025 Ahsoka's Jedi Interceptor. Of course one doesn't have to rule out the other. It was just to my surprise that we are getting a regular one too after the last one turned out to be themed around Christmas. I just didn't expect this 1-2 punch this close anymore. Yep, I'm getting major Anakin's Podracer 20th anniversary vibes here. Without it's respected anniversary figure, we could have easily gotten a Shmi, Watto or what have you as a third figure back then. And now it could be the same for the Mustafar Duel. Although with likely much more exciting anniversary minifigs this time around. But yeah, how many times do we have to see the perfect opportunity to finally have some named Separatist leaders being included... only for them missing in action. I unfortunately can imagine the 50% price increase, but I don't allow myself to think this way... yet. At the same time, I don't see them course-correcting the Super BP pricing back to it's initial price point. So pretty curious what's it gonna be in the end. Suffice to say, the chance we're finally getting an Endor related BP again excites me. For now, I'm*somehow* relived I don't have to enter bespoken mental meltdown state because of yet another 501st Battle Pack! 18 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: It appears to me that they might do one Anniversary fig set representing each of the 6 movies. Half a year+ from now and we shall have it. With leaks and further confirmation much sooner than that. Quote
