Latest news about Lego animal moulds
BrickBob Studpants replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The first new animal in an AC, but not the first new part in general Last year’s City AC had a new and still-exclusive Xmas tree costume, and the SW one introduced a new piece for Babu Frik that has just been reused in a M&G set ^^ The new reindeer calf is very cute, and I think it can double as a fawn, considering the stag doubles as a reindeer I think I can hear angry biologist noises in the distance.- 6,099 replies

Pictures of the set are out, and there’s no GUN Trooper to be seen. Shadow’s opponent in the set is a robot -

Hey, Timmy and Tommy are in the upcoming set! …NOT LIKE THAT!!! Seriously though, it’s a great-looking set, but I hope we’ll get them as minifigs next year! -

That’s putting it lightly. It was a pretty big flop with grossing only $20 mio on a budget of $30 mio. And even if sets were ever in the cards, they would’ve capitalised on that when the movie came out 1.5 years ago Personally, I liked it, but I’m not sad about not getting sets based on it. No surprise there, as the show’s rights are with Amazon, not WB. I imagine it’d be quite messy if TLG was interested in RoP sets. -
Or they couldn’t reach a deal with the license holder Sometimes, they also run into issues regarding certain actor’s likenesses. Don’t quote me on that, but I believe actors can object to their likeness being used for toys and other merchandise. I wish they’d give us more insight into their decision-making, especially why projects get removed from the parking lot, but I get why they won’t (or even can’t). It would only encourage gaming the system
-
I haven’t seen the movie yet, but in what universe is that an Xmas movie house? It’s a gothic castle, and it doesn’t look like the story is even set in December Or do you classify it as such because the movie came out in December? That’s a stretch and you know it
-
Well, I’ve had two projects on Ideas so far, one got rejected and the other is on the way to 10k, and I do feel insulted when people in ambiguous terms say that the kind of project I’ve been working on is low-effort trash. Of course I know nobody was targetting anyone in particular, but as someone who really wants to see their set on a shelf one day, this kinda hits a nerve Simple, it’s possible to advocate for classic themes without shredding licensed themes to bits at every opportunity. I didn’t say I was revelling in other people’s dissatisfaction, only that the constant bashing makes me less sympathetic to their cause.
-
By that logic, every project based on a classic theme is also the exact same idea then Creating broad categories to make everything sound the same is very easy Again, that’s an insult to everyone who puts hard work into their projects. It’s not less work just because the building/vehicle/object already has an existing design, you still need to translate it into a realistic set, and that’s still a challenge And you can’t tell me that Ideas projects based on something more generic like the A-Frame or the Medieval Blacksmith didn’t use any reference material. The design process isn’t that different overall. And 90% of projects never reach the 10k, no matter whether they’re licensed or not. You still need to create something presentable to get there People don’t vote for actual low-effort slop.
-
Last time I checked, ramen and la catrina weren’t licensed, and what is a hipster set supposed to be exactly?
-
Can you back that up? Last time I checked, the split between licensed and unlicensed Ideas sets was still around 50:50 And how exactly is reimagining a set from the 80/90s a creative masterpiece, but recreating a location from a movie “slop”? Hate to say it, but it’s attitudes like these that make me less inclined to feel bad for fans of classic themes. You can advocate for something without tearing other things down
-
That’s quite an insult to fan designers, you know People obviously put in a lot of effort here. It’s not automatically “slop” just because it’s attached to an IP. By that definition, my projects that I put hours and hours of work into are also just “slop”? There’s nothing stopping you from submitting something “original” to Ideas if IPs offend you that much.
-
Oh? I thought a lof of BDP entries make it to the pre-order phase, but in that case there’s another round before that then I do remember a lot of submissions that never got anywhere, so I suppose there’s a jury that selects the sets that advance to the pre-order stage?
-
The BDP sets are pretty niche in the grand scheme of things with a much lower production capacity. I mean, a lot of sets each round don’t get enough pre-orders to even be produced! Some of them could probably sell well as Ideas sets, but I reckon a lot of them wouldn’t.
-
Looks like we can add “slop” to the pile of words that have lost all meaning
-
3 new Ideas sets have been picked from the crazy second 2025 review period, plus 1 set from the parking lot: Edward Scissorhands Amsterdam houses National Lampoon’s Christmas vacation Old Man and the Sea Good selections I think! The Amsterdam one is my favourite idea out of these 4 ^^

Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
BrickBob Studpants replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Also, it’s funny when the title and thumbnail of the video are already clearly false. Sales and revenue are still going up according to the report, not down, so what does the red Not Stonks downward trend line even mean? I guess the point of the video is probably about price policies and alienating Castle fans or something, and they may even have valid points, but I’m not gonna watch it if blatantly wrong information is the first thing that greets me -

NOT GONNA FIX IT Right?? I’m never gonna complain about getting more obscure characters (or characters from deleted scenes), but it’s kinda ridiculous when you simultaneously have glaring omissions like this The Witch-King is my absolute top pick for missing LotR characters, or in this case variants (since we got his ghostly form in a Hobbit set and we can always pretend one of the Nazgûl was him). I’m pretty sure we’ll get his RotK version sooner or later, either in a Pelennor Fields set (e.g., a diorama depicting the duel between him and Eowyn) or a helmet now that they come with minifigs. -

Now that Faramir finally gets a minifig, I’d say something that features Eowyn, be it Edoras, Helm’s Derp, or the Pelennor Fields -

I don’t see a reason for them to shift to playsets after 4 years. Their strategy has clearly been successful The only thing I could see them do is more Icons sets like helmets, dioramas, and book nooks in addition to the yearly big set ^^ -

Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
BrickBob Studpants replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That’s why I said “tend” Good example though, since we knew about Dreamzzz almost a year beforehand if I recall correctly (codename Titan). We usually know about big bang themes early on because of all the copyright shenanigans (Monkie Kid), tie-in shows etc. It’s harder to keep things a secret the more third parties get involved. In essence, if there’s a new in-house theme to replace Monkie Kid and/or Dreamzzz, we’ll know about well in advance. -

None of it is correct so far. The maxifig Vader has a different set number and Sadie Sink’s character is not included in the BND sets Maybe what carter_bricks meant is that some of these could accidentally be correct, not that some real info was hidden in there on purpose. -
