Not quite cut and dry as you suggest given the Y-Wing is actually from Star Wars and Buildable Jar Jar doesn’t exist. The point is, I’d have much rather those resources be put into something from Star Wars. I want something from Star Wars; anything else is a waste. I have been wondering where “Adults Welcome” goes next. They’re going in on the buildable characters, now it seems crossover is the new thing.

My thoughts are: 1. Waste of a slot, especially as I expect it to be a high price point which could have been something else in an anniversary year 2. My optimism for completely new sets (Episode 1-6) reduces 3. I like the premise of crossover sets and some of the ideas I’ve seen on site over the past few days are great

People such as Coop are referencing the Boba. Admittedly, it seems that upscaled is interpretation as of now. I think a Buildable is a way better, more logical choice than up-scaled…so that means it’s upscaled!

If the rumoured Rex is a buildable figure akin to Boba Fett (2026), I would expect to see the following in the next few years: Darth Vader General Greivous Commander Cody (if Rex is P2, Cody P1 and vice versa) Other options include: Boushh Leia Kylo Ren I don’t think they’ll go with generic troopers, unless the design is very good. For example, Clone/Imperial Commando Royal Guard Senate Commando

Some are saying it’s actually a Buildable Rex like Boba. Now I am excited. Praying it’s P1, but very likely to be P2.

Thank you for sharing. Falcon is no surprise. Let’s hope it’s a P1 Rex, although I really can’t get on board with these up scale figures. I think we can safely assume it’s closer to 4+. Perhaps this indicates that upscaling is back?

Sigh, a 4+ Anakin’s JSF and more Smart Play. God I hope the normal sets are good. Y-Wing piece count sounds very promising, though.

Looking at how good the new AT-AT and Sandcrawler sets are, I desperately want a new Episode 2 Republic Gunship. The Coruscant Guard Gunship was a nice idea, but executed badly. A new Gunship would be larger, with more features, and the preferred colour scheme. Fingers crossed for Summer 2027, but I am not optimistic.

Agreed, the potential was there. If not the best example of a set being phenomenal in principle, atrocious in practice. Whoever signed that bad boy off should not be trusted.

AT-AT reviews are out, terrific set. Gold standard for playsets for me. It’s reasonably priced but I’ll still wait for 25% off (hopefully…)! Let’s hope the Ewok Village is more comprehensive like the AT-AT, rather than Yavin (apologies Yavin lovers).

I think if Vader is in both, id expect to see the Freezing Chamber and the dining room at a minimum.

Plenty to think about for next year! I am feeling way more optimistic now, particularly with the Y-Wing, and the Bespin sets assuming they do connect. I hope we get Leia in her Bespin outfit during the action scenes as we have never gotten that before. I really do like the buildable characters, albeit not at the expense of traditional playscale sets. I was really confident about the Boba, and I am again about Yoda. I personally think the concept Chewbacca is one of the most exciting ones so that’s an added bonus there. At the moment, the Mustafar Duel, Tribute to Lucas, and Buildable Yoda are very likely purchases. I eagerly await the Endor BP, Anakin’s JSF, and the Bespin sets (x2), which I note as of writing are the playscale sets (shock, I have too high a bar). While there are significantly more sets in January-May than the previous years, this is the most sets I have been wanting in the first half of the year for a very long time now. I do also like the sound of the Vader art and I might be tempted with the Cinema, at a discount. Concept Art minifigures, movie posters, and one-off sets (Movie theatre, George Lucas Tribute, art sets - I guess?), is certainly a stacked roster, even before considering the normal sets! I’d love them to do something out that is novel in the second of the year for the Anniversary, even something relating to the movie posters and how they might interact. Naturally they’ve ticked the boxes with the Theatre (which many will utilise and display and change their movie posters throughout the years), and others will collect them and make something themselves, but I’d like to see something at a smaller price point that makes me and others want the Posters. Perhaps a home cinema vignette? There’s a definite theme with Anakin isn’t there, which makes complete sense. Unless, I am mistaken, the only sets from that Jan 26 leak that we don’t know for sure are coming are the Bounty Hunter Pursuit (even more Anakin), Ewok Village, and the smart play sets. I think we can all safely assume that these are coming, though. Intrigued by what comes later on, and what else in store from an Anniversary perspective. The confirmation of Sequel movie posters suggests some stuff from that. I would expect to see a TPM set with Anakin. We also know that Starfighter has 3 sets, so the number of stuff in the summer is always dwindling! I would also expect to see some mid-scale ships and busts, too. I won’t speculate further as that goes into the Wishlist thread. Oh, and just to add - the movie posters are exciting. Let’s hope the quality is good!

Good ideas @Kit Figsto, your ANH ones are really good.The concept art figures work well here. I especially like the idea of a new Tantive IV connecting with an Escape Pod set. Personally, I think I’d like something a little bit more exciting than a Podracer, a TLJ X-Wing, and Solo’s Speeder, although I completely understand why you’ve gone down those routes.

The more I look at the current playscale N1, the more I hate it. I certainly advocate for a new release, one that is more compact. I remember being obsessed with the Lander and Juggernaut ideas back in the day; I was convinced they would happen. The Mando Gauntlet Starfighter needs a remake, and I agree with the scale. It’s like Ahsoka’s shuttle; the downscales made them as single person fighters like an X-Wing, but they’re more than that and always will be.

I’ve been relatively disappointed with the JSF’s recently, they’re too blocky. Anything to make it more streamlined is a win for me.

I really like the buildable boba. I imagine we will see Darth Vader next year. I would love to see General Grievous and a switch around of the clone helmets from a few years back with Phase I Rex and Phase II Cody.

I am looking forward to this too, I own the 2014 version and whenever I see it, it’s fantastic. I regret not buying Anakin’s 2018 JSF, so I am looking forward to this. Slightly worried at the price point, though, for the this rumoured one. I am expecting a phenomenal Anakin minifigure. I thought the same, but then again, for the last 6 years or so, LSW tend to release stuff that features somewhere that year/or the previous year in Star Wars media, but then decide the context which is likely to sell the best. I think the OT will sell better than a Mando and Grogu version, unless they released good figures.

Think there’s a space for all these. It’s really a shame that LSW didn’t go all in on the TV shows, especially the ones tailored to children! I am still at a complete loss why TK troopers have not yet currently appeared.

With the pace of new Star Wars media, in theory it has never been easier to release something completely new. At the same time, as each year passes and with each re-release, it becomes harder to provide something new for “old content”. I’ve always believed LSW will always leave space for improvement on the table otherwise they’ll never have anything old to iterate on. With niche sets, there’s less insensitive to re-release them as there’s less to change and/or less demand. However, if I was a designer and had some strategic say in LSW, I would be pushing for more risk to give the long time collectors incentive to buy newer sets. Realistic expectation is derived entirely from this. If we were in a time where a Coleman Trebor released in an AT-TE or a Neimodian Guard released in a Vulture Droid, then realistic expectations would be more favourable. But the reality is, LSW does not need to do this. It hasn’t been looking to push the boundary on figures for a number of years now; the only thing I can really see that LSW is doing in this regard is the sturdiness of sets. At the end of the day, I have personally felt for several years now that sets in practice haven’t been able to match sets on paper. But, no longer are my expectations mis-managed. Perception of value is a good way of conceptualising why we need more risk in terms of figures. It’s becoming increasingly common for LSW to be well behind on the release of sets. The Mando series sets this summer are a great example of this. Your example of Rotta is another. I can think of Maul: Shadow Lord as another. Figures is the easiest way to give the impression of value, another is sizeable builds. We haven’t got either at the moment, for the most part at least. I don’t think LSW help themselves with this. Most people would appreciate something new in a re-design whether that a completely new technique, design or figures. LSW’s answer to this at the moment is more compact and sturdier but more expensive and smaller-sized. Mon Mothma is a fair point. The 2012 set was almost a combination of two sets, which is why it worked so well and felt refreshing. It sounds like this duel is rather one-dimensional. Even then, Gunray should never have been released which is why it’s amazing it did because it’s what LSW should be. Bespin Duel at the higher price point makes me wish we were getting more. It might be that the set is purely focused on the Duel and the figure would stick out like a sore thumb (especially as they have the anniversary figure).

I’ll refrain from commenting politically, including putting my response into any UK political context. As I said, this is not me saying I like the current state of Star Wars, nor that I love this current wave. Most people here will recognise that I am frequently more negative than positive. Heck, I felt my own pulse at long last when I saw the 14+ sets this summer! In LSW context, this wave in principle is ok, and stands out positively vs some of the more recent ones. But this is because the bar is so low. Some day the pendulum will swing the other way. We’ve all spoken many times about why LSW IS not what or where we want it to be currently. A lack of risk and “nicheness”, particularly in figures, is just another element of this current LSW climate. However, I don’t feel comfortable making that argument whilst we have concept art anniversary figures in the wave, even if they are only in a few sets so far. Realistically, we were never getting a 4th figure in the Duel on Mustafar set at that price point. No obvious figure makes sense in the Bespin Duel, and Yavin gave us a celebratory Leia a few years back negating the need for her inclusion in the Y-Wing. I don’t see any other choice especially as LSW these days is about popular figures and vehicles. The Endor BP is perhaps a little disappointing, but the only comparison is clone wars battle packs with battle droids that are far cheaper to produce. Anakin’s JSF is interesting because it’s a far lower price point than the Interceptor (and seemingly Obi-Wan’s Episode 2 version too) but the expectations of what third figure we could see demonstrated to me that there was no obvious, realistic choice - certainly I am expecting a new Anakin with the republic insignia and if we don’t get that then absolutely it should be hammered. At the rumoured price point, 2 figures should be expected.

I’ll reserve judgement until I know whether an Ewok Village is coming or not. Currently I think it will, and I assume that there will be plentiful Ewoks. I do like the idea and prospect of additional duel sets, I just don’t think it will happen because it will make the year too stagnant imo. However, I do hope it signals the return of duel sets, including the specific ones you mention.

I can understand the current reaction here. Anniversary figures aside, it’s a safe figure lineup to say the least. That being said, it’s the strongest (on paper) January wave we have had for several years. This is not me saying I like the current state, nor that I love this wave. Rather, this wave fits entirely within my expectations and perhaps some here have wished things that were pretty much never going to happen. It is a shame they haven’t pushed the boat a bit more regardless of the anniversary figures.
