Gimme the TIE Avenger

There’s a bunch of factions to pull from for battlepacks and a sheer infinite number of ships they could turn into microfighters, but $10 sets are pretty limited in their options. Small speeders or tiny location sets is the best they could do :snicker:

Regardless, I hope they’ll keep all three around!

Creatures as well! I honestly think a £10 mini set with a small monster build could be our best bet at Jedi game sets.

We’ll probably know if we can look forward to any in the January wave by mid July. (Surely they won’t go beyond a full year between BP releases?)

Oh, of course. Can't forget about that one. Now imagine having the opportunity to make the most sensible decision to include your most detailed version of a main character in the most expensive set there is and then just... don't.

Absolutely. I'm hoping enough BL sellers will try and import some that the price will lower a bit- right now aside from one entry at $15, the cheapest US ones you can get all hover around $20-22, and while that's not the worst thing in the world if it was a single character, it's not something I'd want to buy a squad of. At $6ish, I feel like even with the cost of importing them they should still be able to get the price down a good deal.

I know right... I swear to the maker, if Boss Nass had a prominent role in TCW back in the day, he would have materialized as a minifigure a long time ago.

Yep, I hope their most accessible inclusion  partially for the EU at least) brings down the price considerably for everyone else as well. No army building compatible figure should be that costly. Ideally, a Battle Pack is on the cards and not too far away as well.

Yeah, pretty baffling decision by Lego. I just bought the keychain and switched the arms and legs with my regular one.

I wouldn't characterize that as pretty limited. "Small speeder" has a billion options- pretty much any of the imperial speeder variants with 2 associated troopers would do well, a billion heroes that would sell their own set (Ezra, Sabine, Kanan, any Jedi or Clone on a BARC, etc), any small bit of a larger location, and most of the mid-sized creatures. Cal and any of the billion from his game, luke and a wampa, sabine and a howler, etc. Oh, and the AT-RT.

Speeder, Location, and creature are three archtypes that all have plenty of options.

Probably true, but there's a good chance it would have been in the... interesting style of the TCW figs had it released back then.

I'd be OK with another Galactic Marines battle pack. We've had so many clone battle packs, but the marines are fairly unique.

4 chances eh?

We're doing a sequel

We're back by popular demand
Come on everybody, strike up the band!
We're doing a sequel
That's what we do in Eurobricks
And everybody knows the sequel's never quite as hopeful
A sequel
Another feature attraction
Parts please, light the lights, open the box, action
I thought it was the end
But no my friends this is when we get to do it all again!
Do it all again
Until the wave releases
We get another go to show them we can do it all again!
Bawk, bawk, bawk, begawk!
We're doing a sequel
There's no need to disguise
The studio considers us a gullible fanbase
We're doing a sequel
How hard can it be?
We can't do any worse than the Smart Play 8
We're doing a sequel
The studio wants more
While they wait for Dave Filoni to make Mando S4
I thought it was the end
But no my friends, this is when we get to do it all again
Do it all again
Until the wave releases
We've got another go to show them we can do it all again
Wank, wank, wank, wank
We're doing a sequel
Let's give it a go
With Star Wars stars
And more one liner instructions
We're doing a sequel
I don't mean to be a stickler
But this is the seventh sequel to our original request

I stand corrected:wall: Unless they’re now $30.

Prediction time:

$29.99 set: Anakin’s Jedi Star Fighter (matches rumoured price)

Y-Wing ($79.99): Either Captain Rex’s or ANH based

Mystery $79.99 set #1: TIE Variant of some sort, perhaps of a Marvel namesake? (Lego can’t go through the entire Rebel starfighter corps between dumb TIE releases can they?)

$79.99 sets #2 and 3#: MIDI-scale and/or Buildable droid

$149.99 set: bet you my salt ration this will be Buildable Yoda (matches rumoured price)

Unfortunately the $149.99, a mystery $79.99 and the $29.99 could also be the Smart Play Echo Base, R2 D2 and Ewok Attack respectively as the Echo base was rumoured at $140 and Ewok at $30. But I really hope that isn’t the case here.

So while there is some potential on paper, we’re ultimately limited by the threat of modern Lego being modern Lego.

Edit: 75476 is also $30. This makes me think we are getting the Ewok attack as one of the $30s and by extension the other smart play sets in January. I really hope not though, it’d be better if it was a Battlepack or a dumb set.

Oh, I know what you mean!! A new TIE Striker (named after William Stryker) or a new TIE Defender!! :laugh_hard:

Intriguing list, but as always, pretty useless until we get actual set names :snicker: A new Y-Wing is welcome, but I hope it’s Captain Rex’s.

TIE Punisher was right there.

I just pray that we don’t suffer from smart play in the January wave. Also the lack of a BP makes me think they’re saving it for after/ when Ahsoka S2 releases. So perhaps a march release?

It's the 50th Anniversary of A New Hope next year, likely with a cinema re-release. If those 4 $80 sets aren't Luke's X-Wing, Darth's Tie Fighter, the Y-Wing and a regular Tie Fighter then Lego are missing a trick.

I fully expect the more expensive set to be a new Falcon as well.

Yeah... right. Be careful what you wish for, I guess. In hindsight, making him not at all might have been better this way.

Yep, Clone Extravaganza notwithstanding, it would be one of the more relevant and sensible Battle Packs to deliver.

Okay, that's great news. Finally something more to eat, I'm starving over here. While the list is a little too light of more low priced sets for my taste, the return of a meaty January wave is very welcoming indeed. A new Y-Wing is long overdue. Very hungry now to see the remaining sets of the list. :moar:

Keep in mind that while it says January, some of these could be for March. Remember the SB X-Wing and TIE Advanced that were initially also rumoured to be released in January

Fingers crossed for some variety! The only specific wish I have is a set with Rotta.

My gut feeling is that those sets are the ones that were rumoured for this year. The ewok village, the bounty hunter pursuit, Anakin starfighter. $79 sets aren’t normal so unless the fighter that are normally $69 have been inflated again I’m guessing we’ve got a few ships coming in January. Maybe even a couple of helmets/diroamas they all fall in and around that price point don’t forget they were doing those movie poster sets as well which could be the $79 sets. The two $30 interest me as again more expensive than a normal 4 man battlepack but less than the faction vs faction battlepack as well.

if the 140 one is the ewok village that’s going to be like 5 140 sets in a year my adult money doesn’t stretch that far.  I’m at a point where I’m thinking of just getting the figures for a lot of these sets.

Y-wing, I hope it is somewhat minifig size. Similar to BTL-S3 Y-Wing, aka LEGO 75172 Y-wing Starfighter. The price seem reasonable vs the older set.

Well, three, unless you think they could squeeze it into a $30 vest, but the fact that there's three unknown sets at this price point at the best hypothetical release window besides the show's launch... there is a chance.

Regular TIE at $80 would be brutal. But the $150 being the falcon is a good shout, I hope that's it.

It's if anything the best clone battlepack they could make at this point, since it'd be more unique than "we've gone into MSpaint and changed the color of the stripe on their armor" or "we did the 332nd again"

It could easily be a normal wave, but the fact that big januaries are back when a star wars movie releases in February... and the only normal set on the list we have the name of is the Y-wing... I think there's a good chance we're actually getting a wave for the 50th anniversary of ANH.

It's possible one or two of them are- Anakin's Starfighter and Icons of Star Wars share price points- but unlikely it's Bounty Hunter Pursuit and almost certain it's not Ewok Village. Bounty Hunter Pursuit going up 25% in six months is unheard of inflation, I just don't think that's possible unless the original price was wrong. Ewok Village would have to become $30 cheaper, which is if anything more unlikely.

Agreed. Blue squadron is back in business.

I wonder if the rumored Y-wing is going to be "red-jammer" to round out the squad, I didn't catch it in the movie but apparently the original ILM model was used in M&G that was build way back for ANH. It would be a great way for them to do a set that is both M&G and ANH at the same time and it would look great with the new x-wing, and it's a color wariant we have never gotten before (They always do gold leader, right?). There are a lot of starfighter priced sets rumored to be coming, hopefully one of them is that Tie you have been waiting for.

I am personally hoping for a homestead+downscaled-N1 set with the tiny anzellan speeder and the other 2 anzellans, the razorcrest parked next to the N1 and the homestead was a shot in the movie that immediately made me think LEGO display.

Also, I watched that full UCS N1 designer interview, and he mentions that the playscale N1 has sold really well, and been available for a long time, my hope is that the good sales made it worth their time to do a downscale+bent wing method N1 playset. I have put 0 thought into this theory, if I really cared I supposed I should go into Mecabricks and see if the UCS bent wing technique could even be downscaled. I already wasted too much time already designing a more compact version of Anakins Jedi Starfighter.

Yeah, but that was before the down-scaling that started in 2021  Great model, but it kinda reached the point of absurdity. I doubt they’ll go in that direction again.

There’s a certain awesome TIE variant they could do instead that would make a small cult of well-adjusted and not totally insane manchil… adults very happy :snicker:

A full ANH based wave is honestly more than I anticipated, but given the occasion would be fine by me. That might be the sweet spot between doing just a couple of 18+ nods and making the majority of the year's set coverage revolve around that single movie. You probably won't have that many "Smart Play" and Mando sets to deal with, so they'll be able to accommodate for the 50th Star Wars anniversary and take full advantage of that.

You're making a lot of sense with that point. But does it make enough sense for Lego? Remember when the 2018 X-Wing hit store shelves? Yes, it was also before the downscaling. But while the colour-swapped model was structurally the same as before (besides some improved wing mechanism), the price was certainly not. It was an additional 20€ test balloon to check people's limits. This happens every once in a while independent of actual scale. It could easily happen again with a regular TIE Fighter. Especially when you have a special anniversary to mark the occasion. And theoretically drop a neat bonus figure in that set or something.

Other than that, I don't know what you're talking about. Have I missed something? :head_back:

I might be in the minority on this, but I would NOT fancy a full ANH wave. Like, at all. I’m sick of the same vehicles and especially minifigs getting remade over and over and over again  Sure, they were all SB sets, but we just had a TIE Advanced, X-Wing, Landspeeder, Cantina, and MF with the same boring minifigs as always, and the thought of yet another iteration of the same thing less than a year later, just without the SB integration makes my eyes roll out of my skull.

It’s like clamouring for more Philosopher’s Stone sets :snicker:

The Mando sets at least provided variants like the AT-AT prototype and more interesting minifigs. The only way these sets would be acceptable to me is if they included the McQuarrie designs as bonus minifigs, as was suggested before.

Crucify me, but I’d rather have the entire rainbow of CT variants than more lame OT remakes :laugh_hard:

I would like to throw the Red Jammer as possible Y-Wing candidate into the mix. Was recently used in the Mando movie but dates back to ANH, built as a reference model, but wasn‘t used.

I think Lego will leave they play sets more or less alone and walk the +18 road with already mentioned posters, UCS, starship collection and maybe a diorama. They can also throw in an extra printed brick or figures.

I just watched Solid Brix' review of the Imperial Lambda-Class Shuttle and I am in awe. From a core design standpoint it's very reminiscent of last year's V-19 Torrent, where it looks great during flight mode with superb swooshability, while looking a little too short and chubby in landing mode due to the inproportinal fin in relation to the wingspan. Yet another set that would have greatly benefited from an included display stand, but I really enjoy what else is on offer here.

It looks super sturdy, too! Like woah... he threw the build and made it slide over the table and not a single piece fell off. To me, the raised stability standard is the biggest advantage that comes from the modern Lego Star Wars downsizing; a clear improvement from the last decade when many things were huge yet quite fragile.

The price is obviously a tough pill to swallow. This would be a ~30%+ discounted flagship set like any other to me. But given it'll have fairly limited discounts thanks to exclusivity, I hope next year's May the 4th GWP will be something worthwhile again. So I can make this set my dedicated purchase to nearly break the threshold to receive it.

There's a couple sets like a Y-wing and a UCS Tantive, which I think are due for remakes. Outside of those, there isn't much to be remade. Maybe UCS Vader's tie advanced for May 4th?

The body and cockpit look good but the short wings ruin it. 2015 Imperial Shuttle is still the best play scale one. Similar to the V-19, "We were on the verge of greatness, We were this close!" - Director Krennic.

As @BrickBob Studpants said that TIE was kind of an outlier in terms of cost. They've long since made them smaller, the last ones we got were $45-55.

But $80 is possible if there's a side build or perhaps a large number of figures to account for- some of them, perhaps, being based on a certain Mon Cala ship designer's namesake's art?

Yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with dedicating one wave of the year to THE Star Wars movie, especially when it's getting the truly original version re-released a month later for the first time.

That said there's no indication it necessarily will be the case, it could easily be some smart sets, clone battle packs, and grogus.

I could understand the X-wing since we did just get the NR one, but as for the falcon and TIE advanced, come on. They wouldn't be remotely similar and it's been forever since the last normal ones. Even if you count the sequel falcons we're due for a remake.

That said, if it is an ANH wave, I think there's a good shot it includes special figures.
