Anyways It felt like Star Wars was hugely popular the whole period from the first TFA trailer to TLJ. You had Star Wars Battlefront come out in 2015 which is still the best selling Star Wars game and TFA which is the highest grossing Star Wars movie. Then you had R1 which is still viewed as the best Disney SW movie, Rebels was also airing during this period. The first canon books and comics were pretty well liked too. I'd argue it was one of Star Wars most popular/mainstream eras. It's crazy how TLJ came out and 6 months later no one cared about Star Wars anymore lol. Yup, when it comes down to it you can really see that that's where the cracks started. In a vacuum, where you don't know how the series goes, TFA is pretty solid. 11 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Oh right. I forgot he was in Resistance. In fact I think I just forgot about Resistance. (Except for Commander Pyre, his armour is just too exquisite) I’ve only watched the KOTOR cinematics, but yes a movie just like that would be peak. The only problem would be figuring out an actual plot which doesn’t fall into M&G’s problem of moving locations just to do another CGI fight. If Filoni’s HttE movie goes ahead it has to include the OT. The guy from Solo and Carrie Fisher’s daughter are already in the Lucasfilm contact pool. They just need to get Sebastian Stan for Luke and they might have a winner on their hands. (I could see Mando getting shoehorned in to accompany Lando and Han on the Lady Luck or the Karrde plot line, Carson Teva just being added to part of Wedge’s plot line (or maybe replacing him but hopefully not) and then Ezra doing the intelligence gathering Luke was doing at the start of Last Command and helping in the C’Baoth boss fight. Lucasfilm has made a lot of mistakes in the past decade. Firing those two clowns was not one of them. We do not need the Rebel/ Jedi protagonist to have ‘kinda forgot about the imperial fleet.’ Even TLJ was a fun for me in the Cinema first time, apart from getting a bit upset about Luke’s characterisation. But upon rewatch I noticed the numerous damning flaws. I do at least respect Rian Johnson for daring to try and do something different, but I think he should just stick to making his excellent Knives Out films. (Or a SW murder mystery could be cool as a D+ Special I meant the Poe Dameron comics, he was in resistance? I gave up a few episodes in, it just wasn't for me. Do you mean the SWOTOR cinematics? (Which could be a movie on their own). Kotor's cutscenes are... not quite on that level, but the video game itself is excellent. Being a game with different pathways also gives Lucasfilm a huge adaption advantage- so long as they stay true to the characters, all they have to do is ensure the story follows the general path of the game and they can have some creativity with the film without diverging much from what the game is. The thrawn trilogy is so good that I think what I would prefer most is the movies being as close to straight adaptions as possible whilst Mando is hired by Hera to help them get Ahsoka and Sabine back in a concurrently timed tv show. Make a few small additions where applicable- Carson and Wedge hang out in their scenes, Boba is one of the underworld figures Karrde tries to recruit, all the canon heroes show up at Bilbringi at the end- but keep the main heroes as the main heroes. Oh I don't disagree with firing them, just the idea that firing a writer/director should 100% correlate to also scrapping the project they were working on, which seems to be what Lucasfilm's been up to for the past decade. I didn't dislike it as much the first time, but I was also a lot younger. Looking back I really would consider it what started the downfall of the sequels and the current state of disney star wars: there was no way to make TROS work following TLJ. The halfhearted undoing of TLJ and safety nostalgia moves they made created a nothing movie, but doubling down on TLJ's ... everything would only have made things worse. I like to say that Rian successfully subverted my expectations of making TLJ a good movie. Which is snide, but ultimately is what I think caused it's flaws- he was so focused on being 'different" and "subversive" when star wars isn't a subversive franchise. You can't do that to Luke while maintaining the spirit of the saga. I've heard good things about the Knives Out movies and I'm sure he's skilled at that sort of genre, but he was fundamentally the wrong person to hand the keys to. And I think Disney realizing that after the fact has also caused a lot of the overly safe decisions they've made and all the cancellations when they start getting cold feet about a director. They were little more than Hollywood-approved marketing tools in order to make Star Wars fans lose their minds over two seconds representation in a trailer. Something part of the fanbase is very susceptible to fall for. Yes, if nothing else it has a fun central play feature. Leia made it out mostly unscathed, and while the idea that she and Han split up offscreen isn't something I like, at the very least it's pretty much just a line of dialogue rather than their entire story... like Luke was, which was an issue. 6 hours ago, RyansRebuid said: Bad changes in people's lives can undo or challenge "character development." The issue being that that character development is, you know, the character development. It's the central point of Luke's story and why the galaxy is saved, because he refused to turn to the dark and through his refusal to kill Vader, redeemed the second worst person in the galaxy. You can't just offscreen change him to the level that he prepares to murder his sleeping nephew over a vision. There are so many ways you can make Luke an interesting character with his own struggles post-OT, and many stories have done so, but making him do something like that before anything traumatic even happens, and having him just give up on the galaxy and everyone he loves is what I think can safely be considered a character assassination. 5 hours ago, Kaijumeister said: Luke will always be one of my favourite characters in fiction, but it pains me how much his character direction in the modern canon has been to try and emulate the PT-era Jedi in terms of stoicism and detachment rather than being the ‘first of the new’ Jedi; taking what worked before and building on what didn’t. Legends has a lot of mistakes but Luke was done excellently, accurately realizing that the detachment thing wasn't working for the jedi- and on a pragmatic level would compound the issue of there being so few jedi if they can't have kids- and letting people (including himself) have families. 1 hour ago, Yperio_Bricks said: 4 Imps?? We probably won't get 8 since unlike the TCW super packs, both factions are full minifigures, but $30 is more than $23 (citation needed) so it'll presumably be at least a few more than 4. I'd be fine with either 3 commandos and 3 imps or 2 commandos and 4 imps. Quote

Exactly this. As far as the current canon goes Luke’s segment in the Battlefront 2 campaign was done perfectly at least. His conversations with Del Meeko and their mutual resolve to help each other despite their differences were top tier. Luke’s reception in the ST would have been far different if he would have played a more active role to make up for his exile IMO. It doesn’t help that TRoS showed us he could have resolved to just fix his Red-5 and go help the Resistance (one of the film’s more damaging subversions of TLJ given that TLJ’s ancillary material asserted the X-Wing was permanently damaged after being submerged on Ahch-To). @BrickPrick Nice one on soon scoring the MTT! Bad changes in people's lives can undo or challenge "character development." I think "whiny" Luke was so much more of an interesting choice than some generic Wizened Sage character. The Luke/Rey stuff is the strongest material in that movie, and is in so many ways reminiscent of Yoda/Luke. @Mandalorianknight pretty much covered my thoughts on this. Although I'm curious why you think a more conventional characterization of Luke, like he was in legends, would be boring or less interesting? Quote

Need to manifest MaxBaut divulging some minifigure lists or at least some further details for the winter wave. He’s already done it for Marvel… Honestly, I think outside material has done with with Luke, besides the TLJ and a single moment in TBOBF where he tries to make Grogu choose between him and Mando. Which, unlike the sequels, is easy to soft retcon or headcanon as "Luke was afraid he wouldn't be able to teach Grogu and knew he would choose Mando"- which itself would tie directly into Luke's headspace in the Thrawn trilogy, with his fear about training Leia and her unborn twins (or in this case an unborn Ben Solo). Yeah, I think we'll see those sooner rather than later. I also wonder if we'll get a fig list for the Executor anytime soon- UCS stuff tends to leak later but they also don't typically have very exciting figure selections. While out of my price/space range, anything that could contribute even a little to lowering Zuckuss's secondhand prices would be greatly appreciated by me. (Mist Hunter microfighter in 2027?) All the other bounty hunters are really affordable secondhand (bossk is starting to creep up there, but still nothing particularly high) and then Zuckuss is just stuck at an absurd $40-50 since he had the misfortune of being left out of the battle pack. Yeah, this is where I'm at, too. There wasn't exactly a shortage of Imperial Troopers for the better part of this decade. Some Rebellion representation is much more overdue and would go a long way. So I see no good reason to don't do a 50:50 ratio between both factions. Oh, definitely. (The 327th pack as a notable exception). Of course, we're all going to be sorry when the set comes with two scout troopers and two ewoks and nothing else... (I don't think this will be the case. It's a situation where lego's seeming lack of confidence in rebels as an army will help out- I don't think they'd try something like the 327th with a faction they aren't as confident in) Heeey, whaddya know, lego George is coming. Awesome to hear, it makes sense for the franchise's 50th. He may say a lot of wacky stuff and/or retcon himself often (Though honestly I think he's intentionally trolling with the different and progressively dumber responses every time he's asked what he would have done for the sequels), but he's the father of star wars. Kit Figsto Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Assuming GL comes as an anniversary figure (please please please make it that and not some $250 logo diorama...now that I say this, I'm remembering that there's a rumored mosaic version of the ANH poster ), I'm wondering which of the concept art characters they'd do as figures. Chewbacca is easy enough since they could probably just use the Zeb mold (since he was based off of the Chewie concept art), C-3PO and R2 are probably the most famous of the McQuarrie paintings, and then Luke and Obi-Wan? There's also the Vader vs. Luke (I think it's Luke?) duel image, but Vader looks pretty similar to his actual appearance, so I don't know if that figure would actually be interesting enough to really warrant inclusion. Although the poster set was only $50, I wouldn't mind that being the Lucas set. Presumably he's in "Icons of Star Wars", though. We're 100% seeing chewie, hopefully in brown like some people say but it always did look purple to me. If we get 5, my guess is: Chewie, Stormtrooper, C-3PO (With R2-D2 in the same set), Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader. Admittedly Vader is similar to his actual appearance, but not the same. Especially if we're looking at that hallway art piece, he has a more extended "nose/mouth", more bug-eye lenses, and the actual helm part of the helmet is shaped differently, so there's enough for a new mold. Some figures and statues also use varying amounts of Navy to represent him, and while I wouldn't want one with fully printed navy robes, I think doing the linework in navy instead of grey would work well and add some pop. Totally unrelated and an easy fix if not, but I do hope the anniversary saber-users will have open 1x1 studs placed on the hilt to give them that circular plasma bit right by the emitter in the paintings. An easy and low-budget way to help sell how unique those designs are. 4 hours ago, Yperio_Bricks said: It depends. Personally I have no need for Imperials or Ewoks. The rebel commandos at the worst may repeat some expressions if you buy a bunch of packs, whereas you'd also just have a bunch of the same ewok. Post-Endor a few of them end up with the New Republic, and "Ewok Sliders" are present in the clone wars (though I would just headcanon that as a different thing that happens to also be named Ewok- it would be disturbing if they were made of ewok meat and strange if ewoks were somehow proficient in cooking sliders despite being in the stone age. It is also the worst type of star wars reference, a lazy nameslap that doesn't make sense in-universe and clearly wasn't thought about at all.), but yeah generally not a species that would make sense on most planets... unless you're referencing battlefront 2017. 1 hour ago, Darth_Bane13 said: Maybe the George Lucas Minifig will be the May 4th figure? Force ghosts would also work as anniversary figures, so maybe that'll be 2029 or so, but yes, the village would be a nice spot for them.
