I think my best case scenario would be that the $80 duel is the carbon freeze chamber, middle segment, AND catwalk, and then that the second set is one of those $55 location sets of the dining room and a hallway to re-enact some other scenes. Carbonite Han would imply the second set is probably a more fleshed-out carbon freezing chamber, but it isn't necessarily a 100% gurantee, and I struggle to see how they hit a $80 price point if they're only doing the catwalk. When I was looking at art to see whether a mask or print fits better for the actual mask, I found this image that just came out for a mobile game's Luke. The fact that a mobile game will also be adding the concept art characters makes me wonder if there's a coordinated push for mcquarrie stuff before the anniversary/re-release. All that to say, at the very least this art would trend more towards mask than print+tubes. Mostly- the few things we do know about 2HY are all mouth-wateringly good (Ewok Village and Bounty Hunter Pursuit). If they can throw a sequel bone, something from mando, and hell, even a clone thing, we would quite literally have something for everyone as far as the major factions/parts of the franchise go. And that still would leave some room for Ahsoka, Maul, and/or more excellent OT/PT sets. I agree, it’s quite difficult to anticipate which set the Carbon Freezing Chamber will be allocated to. It’s such an iconic set piece for the both the duel itself and Han getting frozen: - On one hand, including it in the duel to make it a three-segment / stage set would make that set feel complete, and technically the other set can be based on the post-freezing part of the film where Boba is taking Han to the Unpaid Work Experience 1. - On the other, there’s no way they’d miss out on creating a cool mechanism for freezing Han, but it’s pointless including that in a set where Han himself isn’t even included. So I’m leaning towards the duel set focusing on the control room and catwalk areas. I have a feeling Lego will take some inspiration from the old Micro Machines / Kenner Micro World playsets for the Cloud City sets. Great analysis. This is ripe for a cool new headpiece / mask piece for sure. We’ve seen that Lego can make awesome mask pieces that can fit at the front of a minifigure’s neck (like the Oni from this year’s Ninjago Legends sets), that sort of approach could work really well for Star Wars too. Whilst my dream is getting Jedi Survivor / Jedi III coverage next summer if the game releases in 2027, I’d be ecstatic if they finally did a Shadow Lord set for the summer too. The Hex alone could make for a good £90+ set and give the core characters of Maul, the Inquisitors, and Devon. Daki and some TK Troopers would be the cherry on the top, and of course Rook. Now it's been confirmed that Gold Leader is included, and while they could do a Red Jammer anyway, they'll probably play the hit exactly like they have before. (Regardless, it's LEGO, so anyone can rebuild it to match the QT-KT droid for all anyone cares.) I had forgotten that particular set. To my understanding, the RoS Y-Wing was designed in-universe to mimic the rugged Y-Wings of the Rebellion, so that polished-greebling is represented there rather than truly messy mechanics and wires. Oh yeah, Gold Leader it is then. I don't fault them for going with more Yellow theme, the Yellow synergy lately has been awesome. It will probably go well with the new Blue X wing. I am not in a living situation yet where I have time or space to do a Lego shelf but when I do I am going to go all in on the Yellow theme. I want to do the new Crest on the left, then SW Logo set in the middle and upcoming Anakin's Jedi starfighter on the right, and then fill in some favorite figures from Bricklink. I might do a small set or two, I am currently feeling partial to Cobb Vanth's speeder. That set holds up for me over time. The fun thing about the rumor of 3 Starfighter sets is that we will likely guess what those are after the first trailer, because it would have to be stuff LF was willing to send LEGO designers years in advance which is the stuff most likely to be shown in first trailers and stuff in my opinion. I really hope they got a good ship design for that one, I was so bored with ST rehash designs, the Crest has been my favorite SW ship, I feel like that designer outdid the falcon for me, it's all subjective but that TROS porche tri-wing thing was so overbuilt, so I hope they don't make something like that for the new movie. We will see. Quote

Outside of that, I can’t really think of any more concept minifigures they could make. Yeah, that's probably true and I'm just coping that I'll get my $55 dining room set. Whatever it ends up being I'm sure both sets will be great- the figure selection is there for the latter and the former has a huge budget to work with. I didn't realize the Oni were actual masks this time around, that's great. I agree a mask would work better than some sort of dual-molded head here, though off the top of my head I can't think of many other characters that would use a mask over a helmet in this franchise. Mand'alor is the only one I can think of, but it's not like we're gonna see him anytime soon. That would be excellent- I've written it off at this point, but given how great this year is shaping up to be maybe they'll finally pull the trigger. (Though at the same time, I've been steadily ordering parts for my mantis, so if I finish mine only for an official one to release... I mean I'll buy it anyway but I'll be annoyed). The Hex would be a great set. (Actually, I'm working on a traditional gauntlet right now, and coming to realize that you just can't do any sort of real troop rack without making it UCS size or disproportionately tall in the fuselage. Luckily the Hex is never shown to use one- and perhaps doesn't have one given it is a modified variant of a gauntlet- so it'd be easy to ignore.) 39 minutes ago, Alex_South said: The fun thing about the rumor of 3 Starfighter sets is that we will likely guess what those are after the first trailer, because it would have to be stuff LF was willing to send LEGO designers years in advance which is the stuff most likely to be shown in first trailers and stuff in my opinion. What’s interesting about Starfighter is that it’s completely uncharted territory era-wise, so they can really go all out with it. I echo your sentiment that getting a sweet new ship design for the film that’s somewhere between a sleek single-person starfighter and multiple-crew starship / freighter (why not both?.jpg) would be great. Maybe something that balances Doug Chiang’s design language with the practical sensibilities of the OT / ST ships. Ironically we now know the sequel era intentionally took a step back in terms of ‘hero’ starfighter upgrades to maintain the rag-tag dynamic of the Resistance. Case in point, the New Republic were using T-85 X-Wings but the Resistance had to use the T-70s. I understand wishing to honour what works with Star Wars but hopefully Starfighter takes more of a swing with unique vehicle and character designs than the ST did. I think this is what made the initial Ahsoka wave feel so refreshingly new. It was a great mix of long-awaited remakes and ships that had never been done in LEGO before. I hope the Starfighter sets have a similar vibe. 2 hours ago, BrickPrick said: The energy I can definitely see. Both this and the Sandcrawler (hopefully we’ll get reviews for the latter soon) provide a comprehensive play experience that large Star Wars sets have been lacking for a while. We are starting to see more improvements in this area since 2025. You don’t just get the bare minimum of the subject vehicle and some minifigures to populate it - you also get representations of the opposing faction and some good side builds that elevate the play and display experience (INT-4 and Mudhorn in this instance). I would say last year’s MTT gave a similar ‘battle / scenario in a box’. It all hopefully sets a precedent for what we can expect from larger sets moving forward. Ironically I would say Yavin IV was comprehensive, but it tried too hard to be so and we consequently got a set that felt like butter stretched over too much bread. Conversely the Remnant AT-AT and Offworld Sandcrawler show us there’s an art to providing a comprehensive set that still places some boundaries on itself so it doesn’t seem too stretched out. I remember reading about this too, doubtless the public opinion on the PT at the time exacerbated the need for a ‘return to form’ with OT aesthetics. It goes to show what happens when you place what’s come before on a pedestal that cannot be surpassed - that’s why I admired Favreau’s initial approach with the Mandalorian where he looked at what inspired Star Wars rather than simply being inspired by Star Wars. But I agree, the related Lego sets from the ST era largely lack excitement as a result. Can’t wait for August, I’ll finally order the three Star Wars sets that interest me this year; the Remnant AT-AT, Offworld Sandcrawler, and Cobb’s Speeder. I can’t remember the last time there was a year where I’ve bought so few Star Wars sets, but with how good 2027 is sounding I absolutely don’t mind this year being a light one for me. Keep the walls of text coming, because oftentimes they're a lot more eloquently put than whatever I'm trying to sputter out. True- I don't exactly think about acolyte on a daily basis- but it is something that is more memorable than TMAG, a movie I have literally forgotten about multiple times now- I keep thinking the only movie I've seen in theatres this year so far is Project Hail Mary a few times. To be fair, I am totally fine with only getting one pilot if it means the other character is Luke Starkiller. That'd be like if the next TIE unfortunately couldn't include Motti because it instead had MARA JADE. ...say that again? YES. I don't see this brought up nearly enough, but there's no creativity in these titles anymore. Not just the titles themselves, which are all character names, but most of these shows just have title cards rather than actual opening titles. The Ahsoka end credits are amazing, why couldn't we have gotten a title sequence with a similar aesthetic? I cannot describe how happy it makes me that the set I wanted most gets the mcquarrie fig I wanted most. Mon is a nice bonus too- and honestly I don't believe I even have a Dutch Vander figure, so the whole selection is a win for me. I'm a little surprised you don't want bespin duel, but at the very least, it's cheaper than the Luke minifigure statue so it won't be as bad if you try to get him secondhand. With the caveat that I believe it's possible Han is white shirt han. I'm holding out hope that the duel's price is because it includes the freezing chamber, and that the other CC set is a $55 one that's primarily the dining room, but even if the latter is just the carbon freeze chamber it'll still be a solid set. I misread this slightly and thought you were suggesting the TIE Avenger be piloted by Maul: Shadow Lord sets, which would be interesting to see- provided the figure list included Mara Jade. (And Rook Kast) How many sets have you picked up the last few years? It really seems like at least among the more hardcore fans lego's going to be making a lot more next year. (I mean, this january alone I'll either be matching or exceeding my retail lego purchases of the past three years) Why, thank you. Likewise, it's always good to see your posts on Eurobricks. To be fair, Project Hail Mary is a monumental motion picture, and definitely the definitive cinematic highlight of 2026 so far. (Although what else can beat it? Maybe Duuune, but I have yet to see those films.) It's also difficult to distinguish the movie given Disney—in their infinite wisdom—decided to add two words to the series' title and call it a day. If anything, the marketing push leading up to the movie felt like a hype train for the newest season of the Mandalorian. Fair enough, lol. Although I suppose I might be equally as hyped for a Admiral Piett or Pelleaon as I would for Mara; a shulp gitto is a shulp gitto. It's fan4stic, Man. You know, I always think of the Ahsoka end credits as the opening titles. There's been something of a trend in pop culture to cut down on theme songs/opening credits. but those theme songs I have encountered stick with me more than any specific episode of the show—which, in fact helps bring the show to mind more often. (Not to mention that the opening titles of Ahsoka are dreadful; it's 30 seconds of gongs and woodwinds underscoring a pair of fonts in a sequence I could do in iMovie.) At least we got an opening crawl. Wow, you actually managed to Swordy me. There is indeed so much joy in knowing there will be something that's exactly perfect for yourself and your collection. It's the opposite of the feeling I described with Smart Bricks; still, very much a first world problem, lol. I would love to want to the '27 Bespin Duel, but alas! The 2020 Celebration display was my very first set to have Darth Vader (I started collecting LSW at the end of 2019), so not only do I already own those two characters but I have a sentimental basis towards the model too. I hope so too; a bit of Bespin architecture would be more fun than simply another freezing chamber. Although a combination of room where Vader throws Luke out the window and the lead up to the catwalk can easily use up 718 pieces, so I think we are likely to get a souped-up chamber with white shirt Han (again). Either way, though, I'm looking forward to it! Ah… So similar to how Maul's speeder can be rolled into the cockpit of his Infiltrator and the construction-figure Iron Man could be shoved into the Hulkbuster, we'll see a $700 TIE Avenger that can fit Maul's Mandalorian Starfighter into it's canopy (which itself is piloted by Lady Kast and Jade). Brilliant, brilliant… My strategy with purchasing sets is usually to "wait until the last minute to buy or ask for the sets I want," so some of the years are still pending. I could specify between gift or purchases but I suppose it doesn't matter. Let me go from '23 onwards… 2023: the Ghost, E-Wing, T-6, Rex's and Cody's helmet, the Boba Fett mech, Spider-Tank, and 501st Trooper BP 2024: Captain Rex MiFi, Boarding the Tantive, Paz vs Gideon, Jedi Bob's Starfighter, Sith Infiltrator, the Oynx Cinder at 30% off and two of Ambush on Mandalore and Duel on Peridea each; hopefully I can score the Dark Falcon sometime soon 2025: U-Wing and Plo Koon JSF; looking to pick up the V-19, Gingerbread AT-AT, and UCS Slave 1 2026: For now I was gifted the Vader bust; on my wishlist are Cobb Vanth's speeder, Siege of Mandalore BP, NR X-Wing, Imperial Shuttle and the Sandcrawler So it seems that 2027 may be as big of a year as '23 and '24 for me—if not larger, given those Starfighter sets are likely to end up on my radar as well and we have no word about the summer/fall wave. On 7/24/2026 at 4:01 PM, Kaijumeister said: Amen to that. Whenever I see a @Swordy post I know it’s going to make for a good and insightful read. I still remember when they mentioned Lego being a way to connect with the films and shows we love in a more tangible way and how accurate that is. I wonder if a McQuarrie Stormtrooper will be included with the helmet set next year. I know Star Wars helmets don’t include minifigures thus far but that could finally change. Outside of that, I can’t really think of any more concept minifigures they could make. Aww… thank you, you're too kind. I'll do my best to live up to those words. :) Hang on—you just made me realize that we don't have the McQuarrie trooper rumored for next year. Well, that's a blunder if I ever saw one: choosing another alternative Luke over a trooper-type that, outside of it's own novelty, is highly-requested by TBB and MSL fans. So I definitely hope the SW design team finally opens the memos from F1 and LotR and, yes, totally do include a minifigure, as it'd be even more insulting to have a display set but not a figure. Beyond the Stormtrooper, I'm aware of, Yoda who looks like a granny, the Snowtrooper which isn't all that different other than a yellow V, and Boba Fett, which has technically been done before (although there might be a concept of his helmet with exposed tubing that would be interesting). I was just surprised you see it that way, that's it. I want that treaty signed. I swear to the maker, a solid TIE Avenger play set is gonna show up in a couple of years, completely out of the blue. Just like this year's Cobb Vanth's Speeder set wasn't exactly on my Bingo card to get released at all after all this time. 10 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: Thank you, I do appreciate that. I only wish I had the candor of your people (as exhibited by yourself and those I've read on the Stone Wars blog). Perhaps I ought to learn German, lol. Food old, you say? Perhaps you should avoid the expired and moldy delicacies, then… ;) XD Allow me to steal your idea and share my top three for 2027: General Skywalker, Luke Starkiller (Duel), and Zam Wessel (honourable mention to the Maker) Do they, though? In terms of mere length, I do think your postings are second to none. The candor (never heard about this word before) is something that I leaned into for the last decade or so. It's a process. It takes time... and willpower. But when you eventually get there, you will feel like a champion. It's like experiencing a part of yourself that was always there and yet... missing in action. Speaking of process, german is a beautiful tongue to speak, but man... There sure are much easier languages to learn out there. Maybe both of those things go hand in hand. Hahaha, that's gotta be one of the funniest typos I had until now. This is what an unintended lack of sleep gets for you. But thanks for your reply. I otherwise wouldn't have noticed it. You can't steal something from me that was technically never mine to begin with. Oh, I'm eager to see how fancy they go with the concept figures. Edited July 26 by BrickPrick Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted July 26 Posted July 26 (edited) We have no buildup for the villain. All but 2 of our remaining heroes are weak in power set or just bad characters. Our comic department is crap so this is all we have. Ladies and Gentlemen. It’s time for….. @Mandalorianknight I hope I have delivered on your request. Brilliant, brilliant… Eurobricks can be whatever is necessary to achieve the TIE Avenger Couldn’t have thought of a better idea myself. Edited July 26 by CloneCommando99 Quote
Lobot Posted July 26 Posted July 26 I'm really impressed by the new Sandcrawler despite not being 100% sold on the colour scheme! It's clearly a massive improvement on the previous version and includes some really nice little play features. The mechanism to raise and lower the front ramp is excellent and integrated really well into the build - it really does highlight how bad the Smart Play sets have been this year in that respect! It's also so good to see that the recent 'downscaling' trend has finally ended - and it actually looks reasonably decent value at RRP (although it will be even better at 30% off!). Hopefully it's an indication that the 2027 sets will be equally good. My only criticism is that the 'mud' printing on Mando looks a bit odd somehow - perhaps I'll get used to it eventually. It looks a bit too cartoon-like to me, but I guess that shows my age. Quote

Kaijumeister Posted July 26 Posted July 26 (edited) @CloneCommando99 Bravo sir, and now to paraphrase the closing lines of the SDCC Doomsday trailer: John Lego: “I swear you will beg for the TIE Avenger long before I grant it.” CloneCommando99: “The TIE Avenger answers to me. For. I. Am. CloneCommando99.” Apparently Kevin Feige has already watched a cut of Starfighter and was singing its praises during the MCU’s Ghost Rider announcement yesterday. Whilst water is indeed wet, it’s quite cool that the film is apparently looking good enough for Feige to bring Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy (along with Michael Trapper who also wrote Starfighter) on board. Makes me excited for the Lego sets too. @Lobot I agree muddy Mando looks off (plus to be nitpicky, his right pauldron should also be made of beskar), but still a strong figure overall. I do wish he’d have received a new face print to represent the absolute beating he took from the Mudhorn though. Edited July 26 by Kaijumeister Quote

With some of the sequel films they've been based on concept art (Heavy Scout Walker, aforementioned shuttle), but I don't think they've had any issues with that recently. You're right they haven't had any issues with it lately, so hopefully the design is good. On 7/25/2026 at 6:00 PM, Kaijumeister said: What’s interesting about Starfighter is that it’s completely uncharted territory era-wise, so they can really go all out with it. Yes, it's their chance to establish an entirely unique era, the prequel era feels entirely disconnected from the OT, and I agree it would be awesome if this Starfighter is sort of a combo between a fighter and sharship class. Selfishly I hope its also a design that is easily adapted to Lego, I get frustrated when a design has some giant bloated wing structure that you know will never be properly adapted, (looking at you T-6 shuttle) 20 hours ago, Kaijumeister said: Sandcrawler review is also out, and confirms what a brilliant playset it is. The abundance of interior space and its price-point should have afforded another 2-3 jawas, but it really is a magnificent set. About as good as a set can get. I feel like this set goes with so many other sets that came out this year. It's also so good that it almost serves as a location set if you squint, Junk trading Jawa market just feels like an iconic SW location, I think Jedi Survivor had one in the early game, it's a timeless design and I am actually glad they are no longer just on Tattooine, and I do like this color scheme more. I am really tempted to make this the focus of a small non-canon display with Clone Wars and Mando era mashed together. It's also so fun because with some of those superhero stands you could have minifigs fighting all over thing thing and set up some wacky stuff, I am thinking clone wars anakin punting Jawas trying to get up to fight Cad Bane or something. Haven't been this inspired to actually play with a set in YEARS, and the ATAT was already good but this thing is truly where Pile of grey bricks can go toe to toe with other themes in my opinion. Very well done, though I'll admit I spent a few seconds wondering which user the red clone was before I saw the symbol and realized it was you- which of course it would be, doom's the same user, just a different helmet. 22 hours ago, Swordy said: To be fair, Project Hail Mary is a monumental motion picture, and definitely the definitive cinematic highlight of 2026 so far. Brilliant, brilliant… The Dunes are good, but the book series is notorious for dropping off the quality cliff rather quickly into the series, and with most of the good material adapted so far I would say 2026's trilogy-capper is going to be hard-pressed to beat Hail Mary. We already know it starts bringing in some of the ridiculous aspects such as repeatedly cloning one specific guy whenever he dies. Yeah- all the "title sequences" nowadays are just a few seconds of music as the title card appears on a black screen. Glad to finally Swordy back (would that be called Parrying?) Ah, that's an understandable reason. That's possible. Honestly another freezing chamber wouldn't be the worst thing- it has been over a decade, and the build was only about a third of a circle IIRC rather than the full chamber. Exactly. That's a good strategy I wish I had the patience for. Though to be honest the biggest takeaway I got from your list is just more evidence of how much lego dropped the ball in 2025. 21 hours ago, BrickPrick said: Oh, this is something we can easily check for ourselves: 🤔🧐 And it works indeed! 12 hours ago, Darth_Bane13 said: I suspect they figured clone fans would be crazy enough to buy the CTT and MTT despite the sub 1k piece count and $160 retail prices. I think we actually can take a lot from this- this isn't the standard exec going "and then everyone clapped"- Feige says that he decided to let them do Ghost Rider BECAUSE he saw Gosling and Levy's work on Starfighter. Gosling's been pretty transparent about trying to get marvel to make him the Ghost Rider for years, so if this movie was good enough to finally get Marvel Studios to play ball, I think that does mean at the very least the Feige legitimately did think it was a great movie. Not that I would have doubted it after seeing Project Hail Mary. Gosling knows what he's doing and is one of those actors who does really care about the source material- he bought the film rights to project hail mary and pitched ghost rider with a specific run of the comics he wanted to adapt. I can't imagine he'd be treating Starfighter any differently. Edited July 27 by Mandalorianknight Quote

Personal preferences and biases obviously play a role in how art speaks to us, but for me Hail Mary in addition to just being a well-made film is also an incredibly hopeful one - albeit it comes at great cost to our planet first. Stories like that stick with me in a different way to those like the Dune films (and books), which purely in terms of art and production value surpass the likes of Hail Mary, but they also don’t have that ‘feel good’ element to them. Still love both types of stories though. Completely agree, Feige wouldn’t give a shoutout to the film if he didn’t want to. It’s a very different vibe and authenticity than, say, when celebrities and studio execs claimed The Flash was going to be a masterpiece. Leakers and studio insiders have also been saying internal word of mouth for Starfighter has been going strong - the same was not said for TMaG. Conscious I’m going off topic so to reel it in, now that we know we aren’t getting a definitive OT X-Wing in 1HY27, I might spring for the New Republic X-Wing. I appreciate the simplified approach to the post-2021 X-Wing design but at the same time, I still think it peaked in 2018. If we can get an X-Wing with 2018 levels of detail, post-2021 levels of simplified wing mechanisms, and a post-2024 hexagonal fuselage design, that would be perfection. Quote

I've been to 1-2 stores where it was on a solid sale (though unfortunately I was too late and it was just a $75 price tag with no sets left), but most of my local ones still have it at full price, which implies it's at least doing OK.
