I might be in the minority on this, but I would NOT fancy a full ANH wave. Like, at all. I’m sick of the same vehicles and especially minifigs getting remade over and over and over again  Sure, they were all SB sets, but we just had a TIE Advanced, X-Wing, Landspeeder, Cantina, and MF with the same boring minifigs as always, and the thought of yet another iteration of the same thing less than a year later, just without the SB integration makes my eyes roll out of my skull.

Fully agree, though I can’t place exactly why… (day #412).

There are murmurings of a BP happening in January (Clay on Bricktap and others seem to think one’s happening). Please be imperial.

You're making a lot of sense with that point. But does it make enough sense for Lego? Remember when the 2018 X-Wing hit store shelves? Yes, it was also before the downscaling. But while the colour-swapped model was structurally the same as before (besides some improved wing mechanism), the price was certainly not. It was an additional 20€ test balloon to check people's limits. This happens every once in a while independent of actual scale. It could easily happen again with a regular TIE Fighter. Especially when you have a special anniversary to mark the occasion. And theoretically drop a neat bonus figure in that set or something.

Other than that, I don't know what you're talking about. Have I missed something? :head_back:

That downscaling of X-wings and Tie Fighters to minifig size, is what got me interested in getting SW stuff in lego. And that they look better now than before, in my opinion.

It’s like clamouring for more Philosopher’s Stone sets :snicker:

The Mando sets at least provided variants like the AT-AT prototype and more interesting minifigs. The only way these sets would be acceptable to me is if they included the McQuarrie designs as bonus minifigs, as was suggested before.

Crucify me, but I’d rather have the entire rainbow of CT variants than more lame OT remakes :laugh_hard:

I’m not sure if you’re trying to wind people up but I do agree 100% with this. There is an entire OT wave on the shelves in the form of SB. I know it’s not what people want but that’s why Lego chose those sets because even if people hate it people still want the OT. Also what else could they show from ANH? SB sets covered a fair amount, with also Yavin and the tantive boarding set over the past few years. It only leaves like Sandcrawler but then we’ve got the Mando one. Maybe they could be ambitious and do a homestead set?

honestly I don’t really care just want some good system sets on things that haven’t been covered for a while. Y wing fits that.

with a cheap slave 1, a bounty hunter pursuit coming, 2 slaves ones (UCS and Slave 1) I’m going to put money on a Count Dooku coming in 2027 just to fit in with these AoTC sets. I only have one Dooku in my collection and that is the OG from back when AoTC released and my mum bought the Yoda duel set.

It's possible one or two of them are- Anakin's Starfighter and Icons of Star Wars share price points- but unlikely it's Bounty Hunter Pursuit and almost certain it's not Ewok Village. Bounty Hunter Pursuit going up 25% in six months is unheard of inflation, I just don't think that's possible unless the original price was wrong. Ewok Village would have to become $30 cheaper, which is if anything more unlikely.

I forgot/ didn’t realise they came with prices normally $140 is the highest a normal set goes doesn’t it? BHP going up just in modern Lego times two vehicles 3 minifgures sounds like a more pricier set to me. I also think with those rumours coming so early (feb this year) and then them getting delayed normally so far ahead they could have been changed up. Like the prelims for the 327th bp had a small landscape build that got scrapped. When the prelims leaks happened years ago loads of sets got downsized and price changed so it’s not out of the realms of possibility. I’m open to anything really. I’m waiting for so many sales atm think for me it’s a good year but expensive one.

A remnant one would be great. Torn between snowtrooper one or a stormie one with maybe the incinerator trooper that made one appearance in S1 of Mando, I mean if the artillery trooper can get a figure they can to.

although the rumoured price for the sets would mean either the price of a bp has gone up or maybe the super packs have gone down?

As @BrickBob Studpants said that TIE was kind of an outlier in terms of cost.

I mean no, it wasn't.

2012 Tie fighter adjusted for inflation: $80

2015 FO TIE Fighter adjusted for inflation: $98 (basically same as normal TIE just different color way)

And then there's all the other TIE variants released in the 2010s which adjusted for inflation would be around that $80-$100 price point. That's just what it cost to make minifig scale properly detailed Tie Fighters.

Now, I don't mind the downscaled TIE's as they're more affordable for kids, and good for playing, But lets not pretend like an $80 TIE would be completely unprecedented. That was pretty much the norm in the 2010s when you adjust for inflation.

The 2021+ era of TIE's seems to harken back the 2000's era of TIE's but with modern build techniques and detailing. The biggest missed opportunity to me, is that they didn't make them sand blue to lean into that more toyish feel which they already have due to the downscaling.

Also I have to talk about the 2023 TIE interceptor which is scaled to the 2010s era TIE's. Pretty odd choice by Lego to release that in the same year as the Bomber which should be bigger than the interceptor. They kind of screwed up the scale consistency between modern Tie's.

I mean... is there really? That's like saying it's fine that we got so little prequel stuff in the 2015-19 era because they got such a good share of the constraction figs. It's a similar thing as the sequels- sure, they've gotten three sets in the past two years, but not normal lego sets.

There's plenty for them to do. Y-wing, the Droid Escape Pod, any sort of Death Star playset, the Tantive IV and yes, remakes of the OT Falcon and TIE Advanced that aren't severely downscaled and simplified with gaping holes and big uncovered red sections.

This may be a regional price translation issue, but no, normal system sets can and regularly have gone above $140 for at least a decade. I think our current limit is $180, unless we want to count the sandcrawler as our first $200 one. But plenty of sets- the falcons, MTT, Juggernaut, Cad Bane's ship, etc have all been in that range.

I don't think losing the bit of terrain in the 327th pack is equivalent to the set jumping in price 25%/$20 up in 6 months, to be fair, especially if the only other one we've seen is the same price and we're saying Ewok Village for some reason dropped $30.

I would wager the 327th pack was an outlier and our standard "super" pack can still be $30. Maybe they've noticed how well the $30 coruscant pack is doing.

No, you're right. It wasn't an outlier- I should have said rather that it was the zenith (at $110 USD after inflation) before they brought the price back down.

You're right that an $80 normal tie wouldn't be out of the question from lego's history, but I'd mantain that in the modern era I don't think they'd make one at that price without a fairly significant side build.

Also, some more sets:

  • Anakin’s JSF ($30)
  • Mustafar duel ($40)
  • Darth Vader Art ($60)
  • Endor BP ($30)
  • OT Y-Wing ($80)
  • Bespin Duel ($80)
  • Luke maxifig ($100)

I guess you guys will be happy, but this bores me to tears :snicker:

Lend to me the strength of the All-Fathers, so that I might build once more, collect one more wave and return home with Lego Mara Jade. Not as a custom, but as an official figure. Alright so the quote didn't translate to this as well as I hoped it would, but I still think it's funny.

Your memory does not fail you. I'd hoped for a full ANH wave but I don't mind this- Mustafar and Bespin both sound like they'll be larger/more interesting builds than prior versions, and both scenes are overdue for such treatment. There's a good chance I buy every normal set on this list, with the possible exception of the Anakin Starfighter if there's not either Dooku or a Mcquarrie figure.

Most interested in the duel sets, although I have a soft spot for Endor sets. Let’s see how good the Ewok Village is before getting too excited with the Endor Battle Pack. Hoping Anakin’s Jedi SF is decent, never got the previous one. I recently have been looking at my 2014 Interceptor and I have been wanting the JSF counterpart - low piece count, though…eek.

Concept art figures sound interesting but still think it’s a missed opportunity for force ghosts. The HP patronuses look great can’t see it being too much to make it a figure.

Depending on what the Endor BP is I hope it’s not scout troopers and rebel commandos but that’s just my personal preference. But I’d still rather an imperial remnant one.

so with an Endor BP coming when does the ewok village come? Could it be 2026 still

interesting the Luke figure went from a rumored 140 to 100 in like two days.

2027 going to be the year of Anakin. Starfighter (could be anything CW, AoTC, RoTS), bounty hunter pursuit (AoTC) and mustafar duel (RoTS) just hope the starfighter has another figure that makes it more interesting.

wonder what the bespin duel would be for $80 surely there would be another figure apart from Luke and Vader unless it’s the return of the diorama?

So mustafar duel $40 is obviously Anakin and Obi Wan plus an anniversary fig. Just wonder how much the fig adds to the set. is it just a cheap and cheerful set with a premium for the anniversary fig?

think I’d pass on the Ywing if it’s ANH based depends on what figures come with it.

all in all not too bad but $30 for a battle pack now

Could well see an Anakin-themed May UCS then? Similar to the year of Jango Fett last year.

Although the rumour says OT, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a Mando Y-Wing.

The 327th has been on sale in the U.K. constantly since release I bought it at £25 which was the RRP of the shinies one the super pack before it.

with the prelims I was thinking of the Medieval Town Square and the Burrow which got a lot of changes in figure line up and design from prelims to finished product. But either way seems we were all wrong with what’s coming now the details have leaked.

as a Brit I get the prices muddled up most the big sets are £140 over here so in dollars I don’t even have a clue what that would be in £ not like Lego prices things the same for each country anyway makes it hard to compare between countries who gets a good deal or not.

my gut feeling with ANH is even though your list is right of what they could do they still have on the shelves all those characters in different SB sets and it would be silly for them to risk losing sales on the SB sets by releasing normal system scale ones a year later.

I’d hope for Mando/ NR y wing but think we’ve got to give OT fans something :)

village probably is 2027 but normally the BP comes after the big set doesn’t it? I remember the AT-AT came out then the snowtrooper bp. Coruscant guard gunship then the super pack bp to fill it up. Suppose it’s better it’s 2027 especially as July and August is already expensive sets. My wishlist of SW along is pushing £500 now and when you throw in my true love of castles as well when I’ve just dropped £300 on a BDP set Lego is getting a bit pricy atm. Might have to start robbing banks or selling pictures of my feet

wouldn’t be surprised if there is a buildable Anakin at some point.

Day #413 of minor setbacks (a bit in advance but might as well)

Expected

Intriguing

Unnecessary (it could have been a sweet, succulent TIE Avenger instead of another Buildable Vader)

Hell Yeah! (this is assumably different to Ewok attack due to the lack of Smart play in this wave)

Deserved

Overdue

Whyyyyyyyyy?!

With 2 exceptions this might be the strongest/ most balanced on paper wave we’ve had in over 2 years.

56 minutes ago, Llewop said:

I’m really hoping that it’s $30 because: A) it’s a super BP with 6 minifigs or B) there’s a 5th Anniversary minifig included (if so it better be the Mcquarrie Stormtrooper/ TK trooper to allow it to be a Army builder.) The price increase by 50% is unjustifiable.

2 Stormtroopers, Scout Trooper, Navy Trooper and 2 Rebel Commandos would be perfect. Ewok Attack and Ewok village are also coming so there needs to be a empire-dominated counter-set for the Endor wave shaping up.

Isn’t the canon reason (according to Aslum) for the lack of Lego Mara Jade that you already take home all the Mara Jade minifigs before the set can get to stores and be available for the rest of us?

These are clearly for it being ANH's 50th- it would be a little strange to do minfigures that weren't in ANH, especially when this is for the despecialized edition.

My guess is a mix of ewoks and commandos, then the imperial side is one scout trooper and two others- either two stormtroopers or a stormie and navy trooper.

Unlikely. I think we'd know something if it was coming out in a month and a half.

All the prices there were out of sync, they had a $40 set listed as $80. I think that leaker was just wrong- I doubt the Upscaled Luke was ever going to be 50% more than the upscaled vader.

I believe we know Anakin's is the Delta, which means it has to be clone wars. I think we can probably rule AoTC out of the Anakin's Starfighter possibilities regardless.

Unless it's the diorama (honestly EVEN if it's the diorama, putting a diorama base around that already-stretching-it-because-it-was-limited $40 set from a few years ago doesn't put you at $80 even taking into account lego's increases and stuff, I bet it's significantly more than just that final "I am your father" catwalk. If it's a system set my guess is it's a pseudo-cloud city and will at least get us some bespin background characters (like an ugnaught, wing guard, and/or stormtrooper) alongside those two and the anniversary fig, maybe Lando if we're lucky.

Yes. If we're lucky we might get Padme or a separatist leader or something too.

I assume it's a super pack.

Yes. I think it's unfortunately just too late now- we'd know it was coming.

I think an ETA in may and the Tantive in the fall is pretty likely.

Good.

I'm sure there are some examples where that's happened, but like I've been saying I doubt the price changes that dramatically. It's also not really the same situation.

Yeah like I said I suspected it was a regional price translation issue. The Ewok Village is $180/£140, the rumored $150 set would probably be like £110.

I mean... I think we've just seen lego's not exactly worried about having a bunch of sets with the same characters and even outfits on shelves at the same time. Not to mention many of the figures themselves are compromised and that like with mando and grogu it's heavy hitters- I think it's OK if Luke/Han/Leia/Vader are in multiple sets. Plus there are cases like the smart and dumb X-wing releasing within a month of eachother.

Posted

As I said, I’m glad most people seem to like the list, but to me personally this is the most boring-sounding one since 1HY 2021. You know me, I like things I don’t already have 5 times on my shelves :snicker: I hope the anniversary figures can save it for me, but the Mustafar Duel set is allegedly the only one among these to come with one. I guess they’ll spread them out like in 2024?

Have hope- if there's a March wave that would also be a good time for it.

Agreed with your consensus. The two 18+ are weak even for 18+, but the 5 system sets are all excellent. Five hydrogen bombs and two coughing babies (or a coughing baby and the baby of that coughing baby)

That said the Vader art set could be something incredible looking, it's just rough that it didn't initially leak as 18+ and took out one of those sweet, sweet avenger slots.

Agreed, though we may get an ewok instead of the 2nd stormtrooper. Though with Ewok Attack and how weird it'd be to army build one specific ewok I hope it's your suggestion.

Yes, but it's some sort of moon knight situation where Khonshu's commanding a secret mandalorianknight identity to steal them in my sleep, so I don't actually know where any are.

Minifig speculation time!

  • Anakin’s JSF will obviously only include him and R2.
  • Since the Mustafar duel is rumoured to have an anniversary figure, it’s most likely only Obi-Wan and Anakin.
  • For the Endor BP, I’d say 2 Scout Troopers, 1 Stormie, and 3 Rebels.
  • Bespin Duel: Just Vader and Luke for sure.
  • Y-Wing: Gold leader, his astromech, Leia, and probably a Rebel technician.

Agreed. I can already hear the coming complaints of folks wanting the Mustafar and Bespin sets swapped, but neither interest me.

Anakin's jedi starfighter might be interesting if they finally change up or refine the design, they have iterated the same basic JSF design for so many years, if it's just a recolored Obi-Wan JSF with a hole in the hood for R2 I have no interest, and I agree there is no way it gets a 3rd figure

The Y-wing will be so boring if it's gold leader again, I would really hope they do RedJammer as an homage to the first Y wing prop ILM ever made and the colors are more fun Red and Yellow, but I don't like the Y-wing design enough to own one.

This is probably more realistic, but I'll be more optimistic with mine:

Anakin's Delta: Anakin, R2-D2, Count Dooku

Mustafar: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, special anniversary figure Mcquarrie Luke Starkiller. I'll also say it's possible we get a separatist leader depending on what part/how much of Mustafar is represented at $40.

Endor BP: 1x Scout Trooper, 2x Stormtrooper, 2x Rebel Commando, 1x Ewok. I will guess the builds are a speeder bike, tree, and ewok glider.

Bespin Duel: If it's not a diorama, Luke, Vader, Lando, perhaps an Ugnaught or Wing Guard, and special anniversary Mcquarrie Kenobi. Unless it's a diorama, I think we're gonna see multiple rooms.

Y-wing: Dutch Vander, Rebel Astromech, Moff Tarkin, and special anniversary Mcquarrie Zeb.

(We're assuming Mcquarrie Vader, Stormtrooper, and potentially other figures come later)

Maybe 2027 will be the year they finally redesign the godawful family guy stormtrooper helmets?

Mcquarrie troopers won't work with that helmet.... and they could always find re-use in TK troopers given that's what they're inspired by...

But no the normal trooper helmet will probably continue. If they wanted to get rid of it they would have done so early on like those rebel helmets. Clearly lego does not see issue with the 2019 helmet style.
