  1. Lego should make a Slave Leia bust as part of their new line.
  2. Even as a licensed theme fan (mainly Star Wars from 1999-2014), I think the critiques towards licensed themes are very valid. It's perfectly reasonable to dislike a product that morphed into something completely different to what it was originally.
  3. I don't think it's nostalgia, it was great time for fans of all different kinds of Lego. You had unlicensed themes like Fantasy era Castle, Pirates 2009, Space police 3, Power Miners, Agents, Bionicle, all existing alongside the licensed themes I previously mentioned. I don't how a Lego fan wouldn't be pleased with the selection of sets in the late 2000s, unless you're some purist classic fan of Lego. I do think the acquiring of more licenses eventually led to downfall of the unlicensed themes, I just think the 2000s were a sweet spot where they had some licenses but not too many. Nowadays it seems like literally every somewhat popular movie/show gets a Lego set, it has turned into an overpriced pop culture collector brand. I can't deny that acquiring Star Wars in 1999 did start a chain reaction that eventually led to modern day Lego.
  4. I think the 2000s licensed themes like Star Wars, Harry Potter, SpongeBob, Batman, and Indiana jones, coexisted very well alongside the unlicensed stuff. In my opinion, they were just as good toys as the classic themes. It really only became a problem in the 2010s when licensed stuff essentially replaced the classic themes.
  5. I don't know, I didn't claim they were. @Karalora did. There are many historical accounts of cannibalism, here's one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boyd_massacre The old pirates sets were before my time so I don't have much knowledge of them, I only remember 2009 pirates. I'm just saying these cannibal stereotypes are based in truth, even if not every islander was a cannibal. Never thought I'd be talking about cannibalism on a Lego forum Exactly.
  6. The stereotypes exist for a reason, cannibalism happened and is well reported throughout history.
  7. Not funny. This is literal cultural appropriation.
  8. I literally would not care at all if a Chinese toymaker did that, it actually sounds pretty funny. There is literally nothing I'd object to being made into a toy, unless it was sexually explicit or something. If a toy company wants to make caricature of Americans then they should. I doubt most Maori people actually cared about this.
  9. Well, he certainly acts like one Imagine being offended over Bionicle's. Honestly I don't even care if people are offended, I think kids having a fun toy is more important than a few Karen complaints.
  10. Actually the burden of proof falls on the people making the claim that people are offended by being represented in LEGO. As @SpacePolice89 said, the only people who are offended are white liberal women such as yourself. Do you even live in the real world? Native Americans and pacific islanders aren't sitting around getting angry about being portrayed as a Lego. This is just absolutely ridiculous. I swear you people have not faced any real problems in life.
  11. It's probably just a reddit thing haha. I saw a post about bringing back Lego Western and all the comments complained about it not being Politically correct, hence why I no longer use reddit. I'm just annoyed we haven't even gotten an icons set, I know bringing back the full theme is totally unrealistic because modern Lego sucks. I liked them too, although I didn't care much for the movie and would've preferred yellow figs.
  12. I'm nitpicking here, but two of them were on the cheaper side and quite good value. Anyways my unpopular opinion is that I want Lego Western back over any other classic theme. I don't care that it's "offensive" or whatever, as I've heard some people claim.
  13. I've heard people say that Smart figures will be similar to how light up lightsaber figs are viewed nowadays. I'm not sure though considering the poor sales of smart brick sets, and the fact that they have trashcans on them.
  14. This and the R1 wave were peak movie waves. The prequels waves were good too. I feel the same way, I just wanted a 20th anniversary slave 1 in Jango colors. A lot of playsets feel dumbed down these days, back in the day almost all play sets looked good on a shelf. Many modern playsets are so ugly with the downsizing and stud shooters/spring loaded missiles.
  15. I do think there is a bit more substance in 03 Clone Wars than you give credit. Mainly Anakin's character, we see him go from a whiny padawan, to the Jedi knight we see in ROTS. He has much better character development in 03 then 08 Clone Wars. 03 Clone wars is more limited by it's length but I think it still hits all the important parts of the clone wars in a couple hours.
  16. Ideally they'd just remake the $13 wizard battle set.
  17. My ranking of all the Star Wars shows I've seen: 1. 03 Clone Wars 2. 08 Clone Wars 3. Andor 4. Mandalorian 5. Rebels 6. TBoBF 7. Kenobi Note: I haven't watched Mando s3 so that might affect the ranking.
  18. To make you guys feel old, I was born the year they switched the greys and browns.
  19. That's me, my first set was in 2007-08. I never even knew old grey and brown existed for a long time.
  20. That's a pretty common sentiment here. Sith you say? My apprentice Darth Zannah and I are the only ones left.
  21. That was a great battle pack, I always liked how the rebel trooper had indiana jones head.
  22. Personally I think Star Wars works better as film medium, for TV shows they should've just stuck to animated stuff. Most of the Disney shows don't even feel like Star Wars to me.
  23. I think the countless shows have made SW as a whole feel less special. I do think a movie every year from 2015-2019 was too much though. A movie every 3 years plus animated shows, comics, books, games is the ideal amount for Star Wars content.
  24. Am I the only one who likes to space out larger sets? For 1000+ piece sets I'll build a couple bags in the morning or night over multiple days.
  25. The 2006 X-wing has got to be up there in terms of longest shelf life.
