In my restless dreams, I see that set. The 2027 Bounty Hunter Pursuit. Has there ever been an easier time for Lego to make some money by revisiting a set at all? I mean, is there really anything that can turn out awfully wrong with this one? Sure, 25 years is a rather long time. That feels like a lifetime for a Lego Star Wars set. It might as well be one of the most requested Remakes for a reason.

But for a 2002 release, I think the original holds up rather well. Of course they can and will modernize the asthetics across the board and may apply some neat building techniques with all those new pieces. Those Speeders are on the smaller side to begin with, so we won't be having a debate about downscaling. If anything, the builds might end up being too big, if Lego is yet again trying too hard to fit a certain price point determined beforehand.

Zam Wesell will definitely be the star of the show and get a huge upgrade. Probably no physical waist cape, but that's to be expected at this point. Contrary to a new moulded helmet element and the no-brainer alternative face print. While Anakin and Obi-Wan will probably only be slightly updated. Those three figures are obviously a lock. Anything beyond that, except maybe Jango or an anniversary figure, would surprise me. So again, it will be very difficult for me to be disappointed in the minifigure line-up.

Honestly, other than the likely off-coloured stickers, I'm having a tough time how the set can't deliver in all aspects.

The old one is $53 adjusted for inflation so there shouldn't be much downsizing.

...yes, right? Like fairly often, I assume. Don't get me wrong- I'm glad we're getting it and will probably pick it up, albeit moreso because I fondly remember playing with my older cousins' non-lego toy of that speeder as a kid than anything else. But it's definitely a set that's for the lego fans- Zam is not a very popular character and this really is just the Zam set. Nobody's going nuts over the speeder anakin commandeers.

I agree that if anything they could end up slightly oversized. If you think about it as two $30 sets each with two figs (we'll assume Jango or an anniversary fig) it gives you a good idea at the size, which should be solid.

Zam should be excellent, and I assume will have a new helmet mold. One thing that's less likely but would be awesome is if they included a full alternate Clawdite head. Zam has 3 major face prints needed- her human face, the veiled human face, and the Clawdite face. That said, it would look just fine for them to use a Ninjago bandana as her veil as well which would get rid of the need for that print.

A solid anniversary fig could really help out the figure selection, not that it's weak by any means, with two major heroes and a long-awaited remake. Jango probably wouldn't be as much of a draw, given he's in a set of comparable cost at the moment already, though for people like me that don't want the miniscaled Slave One it would be a nice bonus.

Getting a new Zam is also somewhat of a milestone in LEGO history. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think she’s the only licensed minifig from the yellow skintone era that hasn’t been remade since.

Granted, there were only a handful of licenses back then (SW, HP, JP3, and Spider-Man), so the list of characters is pretty short anyway, but it’s still quite an achievement! Also, I’m ignoring the generic nameless characters from the Spider-Man and JP3 sets

Yeah, we won't be discussing these builds for being too small.

Yes, that's right. Some selected Battle Packs alone will see to that. I just meant "easier time" in the context of how overdue this set is and how little can actually go wrong here. I get this is a set for more seasoned fans first and probably won't be instantly recognizable by the broad public. Like many kids, I already said this about the Kaminoans, won't know who Zam Wesell is or where she's coming from. What I'm trying to convey is... this is a huge deal and Lego has, different to other popular returning sets, little room to screw this one up.

Yep, the XJ-6 Airspeeder might end up a tad oversized, in the same vein as Cobb Vanth's Speeder was. Although I'm very curious to see to what extent the *final* price point will reflect that.

Oh, she absolutely has to! Don't just put some goggles on her or something. No shortcuts, except the expected printed waist cape. An additional head would be fitting and nice, but that's just the stuff I think Lego doesn't even consider to do. However, a recoulered bandana piece should make up for that and could be included. Unless it's printed on already for her human face, which also wouldn't surprise me.

Yes, that's the mismatch you can have with some Lego Star Wars sets. On one hand, every noteworthy character of a scene the set is depicting is on board and it's enough in that sense. But considering the price point of said set, it doesn't always necessarily feel like enough... even if it does make perfect sense in the context of the souce material. I agree that Jango's appeal would be fairly limited due to his renewed high availability, but if we're talking about an additional figure, it would still be the most logical inclusion.

If Anakin’s yellow speeder is styled as an 8-wide Speed Champions vehicle, that would honestly be so cool. Both that and Zam’s Speeder should be small and swooshable so I hope they don’t fall into the usual Lego Star Wars trap of being oversized. I would rather excess pieces be used to sculpt a sleek and aerodynamic profile for both vehicles rather than just beefing them up.

Two other things that could make this set a standout would be:

1) The Assassin Droid (on a transparent stand) with grips for Obi-Wan to hold onto after defenestrating himself from Padme’s apartment.

2) A new Padawan hair mould for Anakin. The classic hair piece they’ve used since the original TPM sets for padawan hair has served its purpose now IMO.

Just throwing it out there but with how big of a year 2027 seems to be, I wouldn’t mind us finally seeing a new Lightsaber-related mould too. Either a new piece for the hilt, the blade, or both.

I asked the same question in here and came to the same conclusion. There's nothing else like it un the Lego Star Wars theme. As I refuse to count some Aldar Beedo abomination that doesn't even resemble a minifigure except for the head. And got remade with a much more appropriate mould anyways.

That's a neat idea for a small side-build. Can't imagine Lego giving us a bunch of Kouhuns, since we almost definitely won't be getting Pijama Padmé in our Lego bed.

Yep, that hair piece is actually overdue for an overhaul. Quite similar to how ROTS Luke got upgraded. You could even go home and rethink Obi-Wan's hair colour, but after doing so many ginger ones for so long, it may be best to leave it as is.

Yeah, I mean while Zam is the undisputed highlight of the minifigure line-up, I wouldn't consider this the only reason to purchase this set. I am also excited for both of those colourful Speeders. And AOTC Anakin has been absent from my collection ever since. Will feel good to finally get him.

I respectfully disagree. The current one has a classic charm to it and has been a very prominent staple of the theme far too long for it to be replaced at this point.

Aldar Beedo and Gasgano would be the only others- they aren't exactly standard minifigs but Aldar does at the least use a yellow-tone minifigure head, and Gasgano a white one.

I was thinking Droid Brain as well, but the first Falcon with flesh-toned figs came out like two months before.

Oh, that makes sense. Yes, I don't think this is one with much stuff that can go wrong.

I still think it'll be $60 if for no other reason than that I don't see lego being confident in a price point much higher than that.

Yeah, I think printed or part veils could both work. We have gotten alternate heads a fair bit in the superhero theme, but I think you're right that it's unlikely lego would do it for Zam in star wars.

Yup, and it's one I'd personally like since I haven't gotten that figure yet. Though an anniversary fig would be the best choice this year- I want as many sets as possible to have those.

Given they've just been using the Jyn head for her, and it's just plain white pajamas, I think another Jango or an anniversary fig would have more pull. Padme has a lot of outfits we need- somehow we've never had an unripped version of the white jumpsuit with the cape- but I wouldn't consider this one one of them.

Aldar Beedo did get a more accurate remake shortly thereafter. Technically still from the yellow-tone era, but I don’t count him since he’s not yellow, and neither is Gasgano :snicker: Of course they should get new versions at some point, as they’re both horrifically outdated.

Wakey wakey! It's yet again time to get up extra early for a few pieces of precious plastic. I'm on the noble mission to receive just a couple of them Galactic Marine's from the brand new Magazine, potentially breaking some poor kids heart (not really) later on in the process. This one will obviously prove to be rather popular, so I leave nothing to chance. Having just consumed my cup of Jawa Juice, only a short trip for some Republic Credits and half an hour of walking to the nearest Toshi Station, while enduring the Twin Suns of Tatooine, may stand between me and my bounty. Which me luck.. or don't! :moar:

I’ve seen TikTok’s where people have got like 30/40 of the galactic marine. It’s crazy. What annoys me is the magazines all having different figures depending on what country your in. Like the U.K. we’ve got the commando droid this month and a gunship next month. We haven’t had the other clone figure yet from last years BP plus the marine to come

Yeah, even though I can think of like ~37 other Padmé variants as well. To this day, Lego barely scratched the surface there.

I would like the set to stay at this price point. But I will by no means expect it to stay at 60 bucks. Even when the set is officially revealed at a certain price tag, you may be surprised to find an additional 5/10€ in the Lego store before it even released. So yeah, I'm... interested to see how things shape up.

Yep, I don't think Lego will go the extra mile for a Zam minifigure. Including a second head, as nice as that would be, is exactly that. However, what I would expect to see are no shortcuts, like getting a new helmet element should be there. Basically, give me peak Lego Star Wars, not necessarily peak, well, existence. It will have areas where you could obviously improve upon, yes. But what's there should be rock solid.

You know, I would have given you a Jango Fett minifigure, if you weren't exactly based on the other side of the "galaxy". But if that wasn't the case, you would probably received it yourself already.

If we're getting any new Padmé outfit next year at all, I would say the Theed one is the most likely.

Yep, I thought I was too late at first... There were no Lego Star Wars Magazines to be seen. Only the usual subjects (Ninjago, City, Jurassic World etc.) that are just not nearly enough as sought after as Star Wars is. They had just opened store for like 15 minutes, mind you, but with the mere army building aspect of the Galactic Marines in mind, I was expecting the worst for a moment. But it turned out they just hadn't unpacked the newest edition yet, so I got a pair of them.

And yep 2.0, the output varies greatly by region. Germany, I have to say, is absolutely among the upper end of the food chain. We got nothing but bangers all year, in chronological order as follows: Phase 1 Clone Pilot, Night Trooper, Phase 2 Clone Pilot, Anakin Skywalker (TCW), Commando Droid, Jango Fett, now the Galactic Marine and next up is the 327th Clone Trooper. That's the biggest minifigure streak ever and it's still kicking. It's insane.

Often it is possible to preorder magazines in numbers at kiosks and bookshops, etc., so that is one way to get large numbers of minifigs. Though I don't know if it is possible to preorder 30+ at one shop.

Wait, the different countries get different mags? This is wild. I'm going to Europe (Spain & UK) in August and was wondering if I could casually pick up a Lego magazine for the figure and as a fun souvenir. But it sounds like the competition is a bit more intense than "tourist wanders into convenience store."

Yeah, they definitely got the memo by now. I think the annual polls about the best extras included in each Magazine helped them to steer in the right direction. I mean, how many kids in their right mind would prefer those micro-builds over actual minifigures?

At least on the official distribution website, Blue Ocean, you are able to order 20 units per Magazine.

Oh, I see. I'm generally not that well aware when Lego retired which piece, but having just looked at it, I can totally understand why they did. What the heck, it looks super funky on the minifigure you mentioned. Definitely getting something brand new, then. Although the concept art also shows a physical waist cape that I'm not too sure will be there, so yeah... I take it with a tiny grain of salt, but I'm much more confident after your informative posting. :classic:

Yep, that's actually a thing. You may be lucky and still end up getting a minifigure in August when they catch-up for certain characters that have already been available in other EU countries, but the ratio between getting desirable minifigs versus mini-builds generally depends on the time and place you're currently in. Making the whole thing indeed not as convenient as you would think it is.

But they are technically from that era.

They are a weird vestige of the start of the franchise when they weren't really sure how to handle aliens- both Gasgano and both versions of Aldar Beedo- a character who's ability to get two minifigures within the first few years of the theme cements him as one of the strongest Glup Shittos (We got two Gasganos before our first Yoda, Lando, Sandtrooper, Snowtrooper, ewok, tusken raider, etc). The statue feels decidedly non-lego, and the minifig/droid attempt shows the issue with making something that small with limbs that thin brick-built.

It's also funny to see that the Aldar Beedo minifigure in the US will run you about $12, despite being made up of one $1 head and a few extremely common pieces. The one piece one will run you about $75, which is more understandable given it's a rare fig that I'm sure has been thrown out of plenty of collections by parents assuming it wasn't a lego piece.

It's a reference to the movie Fight Club. I can't say any more without spoiling the movie, unless there's a more obvious/literal reference to a scene in it that I'm missing.

That's amazing news. Full-on retail sets almost never retire in less than 18 months, that means they're doing REALLY poorly. That puts it into play that they might cancel or de-smart the remaining ones we know about. It doesn't mean it'll for sure happen, but it definitely makes it possible. (And man, while another R2 would be a waste of a slot- not that a smart one wouldn't also- the other two would be huge wins. Ewok Attack would go perfectly with the village and battle pack, and Echo Base is long overdue in any form.)

Does that happen over there? I know in the US since around 2022 we've had prices jump up on existing sets midway through their lifespan, or prices increase between a set leaking and officially being revealed, but I don't believe we've ever had a set that's price increased between the official reveal and release.

I think we can say a new helmet is almost certain, but yeah, an extra head is unlikely.

That's very nice of you- but yeah, if I lived in germany, I'd be getting those magazine figs regularly. At the very least I'd have gotten Jango and some clone pilots for my gunship.

Provided we get a TPM set. It's funny that her battle dress from Theed and pre-torn Geonosis outfit are probably her two most iconic ones that we haven't gotten yet, but the two sets that we know are coming that could hypothetically include padme would include her two least interesting outfits. (Plain pajamas and mustafar dress- which aside from being a less intersting outfit is also unfortunate because in the concept art of that scene she had a sick robe and hood instead and was going to try to stab Anakin)

Pardon me but I did not get that reference.

Hiding your crusade for the Tie Avenger in another text reminded me of a context in the movie Fight Club. There you also find hidden messages.

Eurghhhh, my manifestation powers are at it again, but this time not in a good way :hmpf_bad: The minifig selection is extremely boring, beside the concept art minifigs, and even those sound rather unexciting too tho. Luke Starkiller must come in a later wave then. Why did I have to be right??

  • Mustafar Duel: Anakin, Obi-Wan, concept art Han
  • Y-Wing: Leia, 2 pilots, astromech
  • JSF: Anakin, R2
  • Endor BP: Stormie, Scout Trooper, 2 Rebels
  • Bespin Duel: Vader, Luke, concept art Vader

Yeah no, this definitely takes the cake as the most boring SW wave ever. 2021 1HY at least had Dodonna
