It’s one of the huge droids seen in the trailers, and it comes with Embo and his new companion Keibu! It all makes sense now, I think its a cool playset. I am not the biggest fan of the mech build but star wars rarely gets a chance to do a big mech build, plus it has a door, and doors are iconic for Lego SW. Quote
TeufelHund Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Hutt droid set is pretty ordinary - underwhelming mech and a weird rock door build. Unless you really want Embo & his dog it's an easy pass. Quote
Llewop Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Was this embo set known about rumor wise or did it just like sneak past everyone? Or were people not really hyped about this set and just never spoke about it? also when does it come out? Kind of disappointed with the advent calendar after last years droid themed one was hoping they’d continue the kind of theme, I know they are all figures from Mandolorian but the builds have gone back to ships whereas last year they all were connected to make a mini droid workshop which thought was clever. also filoni slipping in another wolf like creature that man is a bit obsessed. Clone OPatra Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Love that we have a second SW-specific doggo, but that's about where my love for that set ends. It gives me vibes of that spider tank thing from the Mandalorian show - good figures, average forgettable set, bad price. Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 AC and Hutt Droid look great! Though I’m now left wondering how many sets actually include Mando and/or Grogu this year. I swear the only Movie set without either of them is the X-Wing. Bring on the AT AT! Please! And please let the AT RT be a companion set to it so we don’t get another Mando and Grogu repeat. 4 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: I'm gonna give a shoutout to the voice actress again because she's delivered a couple of screams of rage now that I'd put on the level of Steven Yuen's acting in Invincible, like you can feel their vocal chords shredding in the audio. Tariq j Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) The Hutt droid looks like a Boba Fett mech. The Embo figure and the dog look good. The advent calendar looks awesome and a big upgrade from last years. I’d honestly buy it just for the IG droid! Edited May 1 by Tariq j Quote
MKJoshA Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 I need that Embo and wolf to show up in a magazine. No way am I buying that set just for them at full price. And how weird is it that the Hutts build a droid that has the same color scheme as Boba Fett? Are they obsessed? Also, you all get to hear it first. Yperio_Bricks Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Love the Offworld Jawa I really hope the Jawa shows up in the magazine at some point. SInce it also comes with the Sandcrawler there should be plenty Jawas in production, right?! Embo and Keibu look good, but the mech - yikes. Looks like hundreds of small and smallest leftover parts they found on the factory floor Quote
Kaijumeister Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) Embo and not-Marrok look really good! It’s so nice to see a new creature mould in this theme given their relative rarity. The reused Mando and Grogu were to be expected (nice touch that Grogu can ‘sabotage’ the guard droid just like in the trailers and TV spots), however adding a Mercenary Droid to this is a missed opportunity. The build is fine, it fails to capture the ramshackle and gangly nature of the source material but it’s a good attempt. It’ll be funny having this and a big Boba Fett statue on shelves at the same time given the similarities in colour schemes, but I’m really glad to see a set that isn’t yet more grey. Given that the advent calendar has also been revealed and that’s a September release, I wish they’d just reveal the August sets already! @Mandalorianknight Totally agree that it’s unwise pumping out multiple sets for every new piece of content, I just meant that one set per new media would be a good metric for Lego to try and hit, and naturally more than that if they have faith in whatever is coming out. As an example, they did one throwaway set based on Andor S1 with Ambush on Ferrix; a fantastic set both build and minifigure-wise. I wouldn’t mind that sort of approach with each game or show that releases - heck they can just make a set smaller and relegate it to a £35 price point or whatever if they don’t have too much faith in the source material, but at least they’d be trying. Meaf Posted May 1 Posted May 1 The Hutt Droid set looks neat, very cool to get a new Embo fig. I am a little disappointed Rotta isn't in it though, it probably doesn't make sense within the context of the movie but unless I'm misremembering, this was the last M&G set we didn't know much about right? So it doesn't seem too likely we're getting a Rotta fig... Quote

It was ~$25 for it, I got it in a $50 lot with AT-ST™ Walker 75153 (Rogue One AT-ST), #75301 Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter™, and some other minifigs. I'd say I'm perfectly satisfied with the 2020 version of the ship and not looking to get the new one. It would be a much bigger expense! I haven't watched Rebels and have no personal fondness for Zeb. 11 hours ago, Darth_Bane13 said: This may be unpopular but I often think more minimalist displays look better. Too many sets together just look like clutter. Yeah this is my personal goal for some kind of eventual display as well. I would like to have a few sets built and around, the rest deconstructed and in storage. (Of course, some of the older sets I have are rather resistant to being deconstructed and rebuilt [glares at 2007 MTT] so that's a problem I will have to solve.) I think the Hutt Droid set looks neat, but it is (as always with Lego) a bit expensive-seeming to me. The droid looks like a nice toy to have your minifigures fight. As a kid I would have been happy to receive it, although it probably would not have been the first set I asked for. Edited May 1 by RyansRebuid Quote

There was a brief, beautiful month or so where it looked like Smart Play would be something that, while not what we wanted, didn't take away from the sets we'd normally get. And then leakers started saying the august wave was actually "a lot of" 2027 stuff. I still hold out a bit of hope- "a lot of" and "literally all but one of the sets on the list" aren't exactly the same. But it's definitely a darned fool idealistic cruscade. Well, it never was said to be the August wave, right? We just assumed as much. A pretty logical conclusion, of course. After all, we ever so rarely get to know so much stuff over a year in advance. It was obviously a controlled leak to smooth out the rough Smart Play edges. It's just they went to even greater lengths than we could have possibly known at the time. I actually don't at this point. I think what we already know is pretty much all we get. I'm always open to be pleasantly surprised, but as far as this Summer wave goes, I basically don't allow myself to be overly optimistic. 17 hours ago, Swordy said: Likely the worst offense about smart bricks to me. I remember listening to a Star Wars podcast (who are of the Kenner generation rather than LEGO) interviewing someone about Smart Play. The interviewee made the statement, "Well, add least Smart Play is adding to the portfolio as opposed to taking away." Immediately I thought, No, I got a bad feeling about this. Because shelf space is an issue; because the design and research into these sets are still a factor; factories around the world still have to produce these "smart" sets in addition to the others on the market. It makes a lot more sense that Smart Play would eat into this year's lineup. I still hold out hope for an adequate summer wave, but to say that Smart Play wouldn't take away from this year's lineup does, as you say, sound like a fever dream looking back. Oh man, I had a bad feeling about "Smart Play" ever since we first heard about it. That might be the worst part of it all... how predictable all this stuff truly is. For this instance, it's not exactly a Jedi trait to see things before they happen. And no, it absolutely doesn't add anything of value whatsoever. It's neither collectible nor displayable. There's not a whole lot of playable going on either. It's a failed Frankenstein experiment on every conceivable level that I hope I never have to talk about again as early as next year. Kaijumeister Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) Given how early the ‘2027’ set list leaked out, is it reasonable to expect these could all be 1HY 2027 sets as opposed to summer ones? It was absurdly early either way, so it’s possible this is a new kind of leak. Usually our main source is retail listings, but these sound like they came from an inside source, hence the lack of set numbers. Or maybe someone stole a napkin from a pub in Billund on which the designers scribbled down some set ideas As for the release dates: To me, a $180 set in the 1HY that’s not based on a new movie or show doesn’t sound plausible, so it could well be a mixture of 1HY and 2HY sets. Yes, exactly. A little better sense of forward thinking would have, well, gone a long way. But maybe they did think things through? Part of me still finds it odd they're releasing so many Smart Play sets all at once instead of just releasing a couple of them to see the reception. Are they overly confident internally or more like the exact opposite and just want to get rid of them after long development? But then again, these sets are only available in a selected few countries, giving away that impression of testing the waters. 1 hour ago, Kaijumeister said: Given how early the ‘2027’ set list leaked out, is it reasonable to expect these could all be 1HY 2027 sets as opposed to summer ones? The new SW dog mold in itself seems very interesting to me, and is enough to make me happy about the set. More new molds bring my own moc universe all the more alive. The mecha then didn't really struck me as the most successful build. The color scheme is so irregular that it effectively hides the "eye" part, and as the thing really does not have a head, and apparently has three arms, it does not build up complete in the viewers mind. In this case, the all gray color scheme might have actually helped a little. Embo seems very good, though. Ps. I am not new on EuroBricks, I just cannot access my old account (Samppu) and since I had to make a new one, I might just as well change my nick to not be remiscient of my actual name. Quote
