  1. I agree it feels like they might have the angled pieces needed to really nail the design. that would be amazing, the interceptor didn't really need a new cockpit piece but this one could use it, or at the very least a print for the existing piece.
  2. I learned about it from the behind the scenes stuff after seeing the M&G movie and it's a very cool tribute to an obscure model that was never used in ANH, but finding out it was never used in ANH and the recent figure rumors has me a little worried they are just going to do gold leader again. I was looking at the color scheme, and it seems like a toy version of the color scheme would be a really interesting mix of reds/greys/yellow/white and then copper greebling, it would look amazing in my opinion. I thought the Y-wing for TROS looked cool, but I am also wondering how this new one's build will look. I can't wait to see the build on Anakin's Jedi Starfighter, as a kid I loved the interceptor version but after clone wars I think the 7B looks like a sword and it's really cool, anakin's in particular has a wonderful color scheme and I think it would look amazing across from the new Razorcrest.
  3. Agreed. I can already hear the coming complaints of folks wanting the Mustafar and Bespin sets swapped, but neither interest me. Anakin's jedi starfighter might be interesting if they finally change up or refine the design, they have iterated the same basic JSF design for so many years, if it's just a recolored Obi-Wan JSF with a hole in the hood for R2 I have no interest, and I agree there is no way it gets a 3rd figure The Y-wing will be so boring if it's gold leader again, I would really hope they do RedJammer as an homage to the first Y wing prop ILM ever made and the colors are more fun Red and Yellow, but I don't like the Y-wing design enough to own one.
  4. I wonder if the rumored Y-wing is going to be "red-jammer" to round out the squad, I didn't catch it in the movie but apparently the original ILM model was used in M&G that was build way back for ANH. It would be a great way for them to do a set that is both M&G and ANH at the same time and it would look great with the new x-wing, and it's a color wariant we have never gotten before (They always do gold leader, right?). There are a lot of starfighter priced sets rumored to be coming, hopefully one of them is that Tie you have been waiting for. I am personally hoping for a homestead+downscaled-N1 set with the tiny anzellan speeder and the other 2 anzellans, the razorcrest parked next to the N1 and the homestead was a shot in the movie that immediately made me think LEGO display. Also, I watched that full UCS N1 designer interview, and he mentions that the playscale N1 has sold really well, and been available for a long time, my hope is that the good sales made it worth their time to do a downscale+bent wing method N1 playset. I have put 0 thought into this theory, if I really cared I supposed I should go into Mecabricks and see if the UCS bent wing technique could even be downscaled. I already wasted too much time already designing a more compact version of Anakins Jedi Starfighter.
  5. Color blocking on the Sandcrawler looks really good to me. I really appreciate the mudhorn, but the inclusion of Mando's rifle is a reminder they didn't include it in the obvious Hutt Droid set or the spear in the Shuttle. They had to know folks were going to be complaining about Mando overload, and it would have taken them two seconds to accessorize most of the Mando's slightly different in each set. The Sandcrawler is a perfect example, the rifle and the dagger are great attention to detail. I think this set could be the cornerstone of a display, you can basically set up a trading post with all the jawa crap, get the freaky little guys (anzellans) in there with all their gear and the two junky looking speeders from january and this could be a fun trading outpost display. I do really like the mudhorn, I think they did a great job on it. I am still not sure what set I will get to go with the Razorcrest but this could be a fun one, I see the potential. I have never owned an AT-AT. I always thought I was more of a prequels guy, but in recent years the clone bro crew became so insufferable I think I leaned away from it, Mando has somehow become my favorite era in terms of owning vehicle related merch. I think the time they spend with the vehicles and the way all the gear in mando has such practical care and attention to detail is what grabs at me, and this ATAT is a big part of that. In 1 scene I feel like i know the interior of an ATAT better than ever before. It's also one of those lego sets where a lot of cool little things fit neatly into the bigger thing, which is so amazing. I think any kid that grows up owning this set is going to look back on it the way clone bros look back on their LAATs from childhood. Being able to launch the minirig and the speeder from the walker is so cool, its a little mini imp faction army in 1 set. I understand everyone whining about too much mando stuff, but I couldn't disagree more, luckily it's too late and it already happened so I am stoked, I don't really think mando will be an era they go back to but these sets in my opinion dwarf the mando sets that they dripfed out through the years of the show. The only final set I am crossing my fingers about is a set with the Homestead + N-1. After seeing the movie I do understand why they didn't do other things, I take back my desire for hutt faction stuff. I think if they want to bookend the mando era with 1 more definitive set it would be the homestead and a downscaled N-1. I think it would be the perfect place to do 2 anzellans with their little speeder and a Rotta. It would be the perfect display to go with the new razorcrest. I do really love how the U-wing fits with the new x-wing. It passes as one of the Ranger's ships and it's the perfect ship for the new Zeb. The last ship they would need to do for the Adelphi Rangers would be a Y-wing. I didn't get a good look at them in the movie but I think they have that same color scheme, I just have no idea where we would get one of those in the future. The ahsoka show is going to be the best candidate, but at this point I have no idea how much coverage that show will get. I also think the new imp shuttle looks fantastic. I think all the new remnant stuff will look very good together. The shuttle is my current top pick to display next to the crest but I am going to wait and see what next year brings just in case they have Mando's Homestead in the pipeline, I figure if it's not next spring then they have no plans to do it.
  6. The guns on the ATAT head aren't very big, but that might be accurate for this variant. I think the tile vs brick ratio looks great, and the shaping they did on the legs and joints looks clean. I wonder how different the interior will be. The 2020 one had the visual dictionary accurate interior with the chairs and the speeder bike + e-web storage, but I wonder what they did with the interior of this one. In the video we can see there is a hatch on the top of it, I am assuming that's for mando to fly out of. The color blocking looks good, I dislike how lego cheaps out on doing metallic silver, it was nice to see Jang rip into them on that with the N-1 but I do appreciate how the designers have been mixing different greys, I especially like it on the new Razorcrest, and it breaks up the light grey on this version of the ATAT The feet look like they might articulate a bit more than usual, they look perfect. I want to see them do a snowspeeder with the new canopy piece.
  7. i feel like the hutt droid has the same design aesthetic as cobb vanth's speeder, you buy both those sets and you sort of have a bounty hunter squad
  8. i get where you're coming from, hopefully other folks like the build more than me, i wish they had done that big robot instead of a giant vader minifig. The real stop-motion miniature looks cool but this just looks like a mech + gorbage to me. I would just bricklink embo and the dog. The build isn't worth shelf-space imo. I think the new shuttle looks really good. I can't wait to see reviewers get a hold of that one. I wonder how sturdy it is, some of those flat 4x4 pieces above the gears look like they might move a bit.
  9. absolutely, lego is big corpo and they are always gonna play the profit game, and yeah I think the clone bro army builder mentality escalated things lego plays dumb about it, but a significant appeal of their product is "stylized action figure" and not so much a system model kit, this set is a perfect example it's just a 50$ Embo and Marrok black series combo pack. We are likely going to see Embo's ship and all those Hutt cartel ships in the movie, and most of us would have preferred a playset around those builds, the mech is fine, it's just the most boring choice. But even though i disagree with the playset overall there were still so many easy ways to polish it off with just a few more parts, the backside of the door should have a bunch of clips to store embo's gear, maybe even a net, whatever, this is a straight to bricklink set for Embo and Kiba The shuttle is interesting, again my complaint stands with Mando, where is his spear? It's 1 piece but it would at least make him a "variant" in terms of included accessories. The shuttle build looks like the interior is more narrow, but potentially taller, i am wondering if they somehow managed to make a continuous stand-able interior from back to front with a slight opening connecting the two areas and then 1 seat up front, it looks like it may be possible, that would be amazing. 2015 looked like a perched pterodactyl when landed, which was awesome, this one I think has more accurate landing gear but it lacks the cool stance. Some of the design looks a little cleaner, some stuff looks a bit more awkward, the wings are too wide, which i am assuming was intentional to give more access to the interior through the side panels which also look like they will open cleaner on this one. I am most interested in the interior, if they managed to make it standing height throughout i will be impressed.
  10. I think it's fair for folks to be disappointed in the hutt sentry droid. It currently looks like the only shot at getting a Hutt Cartel set, and there were far better options than a 15$ mech build + junk tacked on. Overall, the star wars line has become a victim of it's own success in that lego feels confident doing the bare minimum they can possibly get away with while still selling max price, the UCS N-1 is a great example IMO but this set is also another good example: There are numerous tiny little details that could have improved the set, look at the trailers and other toys embo wields dual scythes in the trailer and in toys, you're telling me LEGO didn't have some random ninjago scythes laying around to include as additional accessories from trailers we suspect these tunnels feature mando riding on a STAP, it's like 5 extra pieces to include that build mando is seen in trailers fighting these droids with an Amban Rifle, that's an additional accessory that could also have been included for the high price of 3 pieces this palace is where we see Din not wearing a helmet, seems like a great set to provide a hairpiece for a helmetless "captured" Din I feel like they could have added a lot of polish with just a few extra pieces.
  11. It all makes sense now, I think its a cool playset. I am not the biggest fan of the mech build but star wars rarely gets a chance to do a big mech build, plus it has a door, and doors are iconic for Lego SW.
  12. in unrelated news, how do folks feel about the old marrok figure? i kinda wish they would have done arm printing instead of that pauldron piece.
  13. ah yes, I mistakenly said minifig scale, I should have said micro-fig, and relative to available parts that can't be negotiated in terms of size like the canopy and stuff, this is about as close as they could possibly get to proper scale I think. It's a wonderful little set, because of the wacky tiny scale I don't think it displays well with other playsets but this has always seemed like an incredibly desk set. It's really cool, and I am glad to see it's going to play a significant role in the movie.
  14. I know right, it's so funny that it's basically 1:1 minifig scale if not a bit oversized, it's the UCS Anzellan Starship.
  15. the N-1 is fine but frustrating, i don't buy UCS but i was curious to see how premium LEGO would go with this set as a litmus test. The designer in the recent youtube video has a moment where he acknowledges the whole thing is supposed to be silver, and yes I am aware the metal under the yellow paint isn't the same as the metal under the chrome, but lets be real, light grey doesn't do it justice, ideally there would have been a lot more silver metallic or flat silver pieces instead of light gray, maybe some dark grey metallic, and then the drum lacquer up front, but it's clear they were barely willing to do the drum lacquer front, you can see on the playset that there are a few random pieces in the colors i mentioned, dark metallic on engines and some flat silver on the cannons, they know what the darn color is supposed to be, but they will never approve it in the budget. i think that sinks my hope for them doing an improved playset, it's just not in the cards for that ship. complaining aside, the model looks pretty good, but UCS is not my thing.
