At the end of the day if you have the money, and it's worth it to you, go for it. My walmart overcharged me for the stormtrooper mech back in 2023 then. Oh, no, it is, I just meant they definitely weren't on Mandalore. I think they were on kashyyyk? There are so many republic and separatist vehicles that show up for 0.5s in the background of ROTS, really the only reason a lot of these are known at all ARE the lego sets or if they managed to get into TCW. If it was a battle pack of only supercommandos I'd have bought two on release day, even with how overpriced that $23 tag feels. As the username may imply, I'm a sucker for mandalorians (but honestly not the biggest fan of their portrayal in THE mandalorian, funnily enough. I always preferred the disparate factions and noble houses of TCW/Rebels) Yup. Though I did give in and buy the new one at full price- I had an amazon gift card and after MSL ended I just really wanted the parts for a Rook Kast figure, which pushed me over the edge of "I want the mandos and speeder but not the clones"- honestly I really do like the speeder, though obviously I've already put the clone barricade parts into the bin. Last time I checked it depends between his original 2010 TCW appearance and his Season 4 2013 version. With the latter being considerably more affordable than the former. And this will be my next stop as well. Otherwise I'm not really into getting individual minifigs. TBB Bane was the only one I ever ever got on Bricklink. Everything else, exclusives from Calendars/CMF Series/Polybags, I got from Ebay for much more reasonable prices. That being said, no I don't have money to do this at all. Hence why it's more of an exception when it occasionally does happen; with Bane being one of them. Back when they still tried to charge extra for Star Wars, I guess. Yes, exactly, had me confused there for a minute. I solely knew it from Kashyyyk. To be more particular, from that great 2014 Battle Pack. And I think there was a regular one beforehand, too. And yes, the fact that you're sometimes only made aware of some things via merch, in this case a specific vehicle, is fascinating to me. Yeah, I don't know, there is this specific spark, something magical about Mandos in the TCW era or before that's hard to replicate beyond that. I grew up with the classics like the Bounty Hunter game and some Jango Comics as well. That's a rather sleek looking side-build, isn't it? I honestly don't know when I will have the motivation to integrate the pair of 332nd Troopers to the rest of my Clones. At this point, it makes me honestly sick to even looking at them. If Lego rehashes one more Legion for next year's Battle Pack, I'm personally entering into a mental meltdown state. 2 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Smart Play still isn’t really moving anything extra on Amazon despite all the May 4th discounts. No recruitment or life support systems required so they are cheaper to make and virtually unlimited due to lack of needed manpower (aside from maintenance) Thrawn I imagine is going to have a cache of TIE Defenders waiting for him back in the main Galaxy for offensive operations. (It was established in TOTE that Morgan was producing some and her factory was still in operation during Mando S2, assumably batches were probably picked up frequently and ASAP by Pellaeon or Faro in case similar events to those in that episode transpired) My one very minor gripe with a INT-4 being the next imp BP build is that the last 2 imp BPs (Dropship v Speeder and Night Troopers) also had air based patrol ships as the build. Granted the INT-4 is much more the empire’s equivalent of the T-47, but still imperial troops are in dire need of reinforcements in both infantry and ground support systems currently. Smart Play still isn’t really moving anything extra on Amazon despite all the May 4th discounts. Everyday I am thankful that there wasn’t a Smart Play Wolfpack Gunship in the March wave. Then the theme would truly have been cooked by clone bros who would have been too short-sighted and single-minded to understand what they’d be unleashing. Couldn't have said it better myself. We'll see. I wouldn't mind seeing Defenders return, but I never liked the TOTE idea that places other than Lothal were making them, it kind of takes away from Rebels. This is true, but the dropship is a non-canon build from a limited-release anniversary celebration set that didn't quite have the numbers for an imperial battle pack. And while I'm the strongest defender of that the little beetle gunship in the Night Trooper pack, it is in essence a microfighter as opposed to something that you could properly put in a full army. Alright, here's the US numbers/analysis. Worst month yet for smart play, they're getting absolutely mollywopped by so many sets. Presumably there were some deals on a few of the larger ones that I missed out on :(. It's not so much that smart play sales are worse than last month, but that the sales of "dumb" sets drastically spiked. The best selling smart set remains the Advanced at 2k, which is demolished by: 7k: Mando and Grogu speeder (This was on sale at a target I visited in an urban area. I have no idea why, it appears to be doing massive numbers everywhere else.) 6k: Coruscant Guard Gunship 5k: The Ghost, STAP, 4k: midi falcon, rex microfighter, 3k: midi AT-AT, Ahsoka's Starfighter, R2-D2, Coruscant BP, BF2 501st BP, 2k, alongside the SMART TIE, also contains the 332nd/mando BP, TIE Bomber, Evil Falcon, obi-wan's starfighter, 327th BP, plo's microfighter, 1k has the smart X-wing, but also the star destroyer, Jango's Slave One, V-19 Torrent, Logo, AT-TE, midi acclamator, night trooper BP, ARC-170, mando's helmet, mandalore BP, U-wing, maul mech, Every other Smart set lies in the hundreds, alongside multi-year old sets, extremely expensive price points, or sets that have only been out for a week. On Amazon at least, it's really not looking good. TLDR: On Amazon US, the smart sets are doing really, really poorly. Their bestselling smart sets can barely keep pace with sets from years ago, and a number of them are somehow selling less than overpriced retired sets and/or overpriced foil packs amazon imported. 1 hour ago, BrickPrick said: Last time I checked it depends between his original 2010 TCW appearance and his Season 4 2013 version. He's actually not nearly as bad as I remembered, I guess the speeder must have driven his price down. In the US, it's "only" $25 for an undamaged 2010 one- not something I'd pay for a minifigure normally, but not nearly as bad as I feel like it used to be. The 2013 one is actually slightly more expensive in the states at around $26, but it looks like it's significantly cheaper in your Germany at the moment. It is a really interesting cultural thing. Lego has the power to make some of those vehicles popular- they're pretty much the only reason the Swamp Speeder is alive, and I'd say they've contributed heavily to the TX-130's longevity as well. Yes- I personally prefer the royal houses of Rebels the most for general mandalorian society, or the Republic Commando games' honor and langauge, but all the pre-"The" mandalorian stuff is excellent. Yeah, I think you actually remembered the post TCW timeline when there wasn't a new Cad Bane for nine years. He was like upwards of 50 bucks in mint condition back then. But he got much more affordable starting with his TBB release. Trust me, the aforementioned price is neither something I can afford nor would want to. The 2013 version can be bought new around 20€. Don't get me wrong... that's still a lot of money for a tiny piece of plastic. But that's no amount of money you get a bad conscience over. That's something you can do every once in a while without thinking about too hard. I agree. Not many people would recognize the Republic Fighter Tank if it wasn't for Lego Star Wars and some videogame representation. The same can be said about certain characters. Though some of them were never canon to begin with and otherwise wouldn't exist. Yep, to be fair, not to stray too much from the topic, I think this is less a "Mando" problem per se and more a "Disney" thing. Like I can understand George saying this is not representative of his vision of Star Wars. The feel to it just hits different. That's technically true, but on account of the 332nd being their respective sub-division, it has still been four 501st themed Battle Packs since then. I see it less like "six years since the last pure 501st Battle Pack" and more like "look how much longer other stuff hasn't made an appearance instead" kinda way. You know what would have been a solid choice for another 2026BP? Imperial Remnant Troopers. Three of the new Snow Troopers and one of those AT-RT drivers. You would have still taken advantage on the Mando hype and provided amassable and desirable armoured Troopers. The latter could have been used to fill the upcoming play set AT-AT. It would have sold really well. Nobody can convince me otherwise. 6 minutes ago, Darth_Bane13 said: I have a bit of a soft spot for them since I grew up with a lot of the Clone Wars faces but they do look really bad next to modern normal figures. I know I'd checked after his appearance in the Justifier, but I'm sure between that set having been around long enough for used copies to start popping up, and of course him now being readily availible in a $35 set, It was always going to end up such that his price thankfully decreased greatly. Take the imperial dropship, which we've now seen three times despite only appearing in lego content. (Though that and the rebel speeder are soft spots of mine.) In terms of mandalorian culture it's largely only Mando itself- Shadow Lord I think did an excellent job showing us both the loyal mandalorian warriors and their mercenary counterparts. Really it all comes down to season 3- I just have issue with the whole of the retaking of mandalore, but major parts of it include that Bo-Katan just does the same exact thing regarding the darksaber that caused her to lose her followers last time and it just works out, or that aside from Bo-Katan, there appear to be no mandalorian nobles or houses anymore. Oh, don't misunderstand me, we absolutely do not need another and I'll be the first to point out how many subsets of the 501st or semi-501st battle packs we've had since. I'm just saying I could easily see lego releasing another basic one- not that it would be in any way something I'd want to see. Agreed - though given our last standard imperial BP was snowtroopers, I wouldn't mind if this one was stormtroopers instead. Quote

Ha, for a hot second, you thought I would be willing to pay a small fortune for a single minifig (). There are obviously minifigs that I'd love to add to my collection. Take TC-14 for example. To me, one of the best May the 4th figures ever made. It's awesome, but it's not ~100€ awesome. So these kinda things remain a pipe dream for me at best. Yeah, that's yet another good example. Yes, of course. One thing doesn't have to rule out the other. We fans can state facts and what we want to see next all day long, reasonably so, but this doesn't change Lego probably isn't going to see it that way. Especially in the Battle Pack department. Where they became really weird lately. Again, to me it's weird. To them, it may make perfect business sense. Though I still think they could release two regular Battle Packs instead of a single bigger one and essentially make at least the same amount of money as they're doing now. That's correct. Though it would still be nice to get the new Snowtroopers in a much more affordable set. New Troopers often have the tendency to show up in a big set first, only to reappear in cheaper stuff later. So I wouldn't be exactly opposed to that in this case, too. But yeah, my number #1 requested Battle Pack is still Battle of Endor-related. Quote

I think it's due to the AT-TE consistently selling well enough to stay on shelves, seemingly like it might retire soon so they'll be fair game. There's a push from 2019 onwards I've seen not talked about enough where the LEGO Movie 2 aesthetic became the go to for every lego theme. The evolution of CMFs shows it neatly where in 2010 they all had a weird unique artstyle to their prints that was more in keeping with late 2000s graphic design. Thicker lines, angular designs, blacks being used for face contours and such. Then in the rest of the 2010s CMFs had a slightly one step removed from general lego themes aesthetic where their expressions were more exaggerated than the figures in City and such. But come the 2020s they're all completely unified. A generic city head looks the same as the CMF big smiley costume heads to the point the CMFs just use City heads now. Also why pupils are a big nono now. More consistent which has benefits but not my preference The Mandos looking the same was the reason they were like a weird ethnostate when I played with them as a kid. Weird freaks convinced that they were the apex of Minifiganity (like the Royal Family) Quote

It makes sense, P2 also has a lot more variety so a bunch of different color legions don't look as good compared to the unified P1 look. Quote

Also the Night of a Thousand Tears is established to have wiped out all of Clan Wren (except Sabine) P2 Clones for me have always seemed to work better as squads- platoons of army building/ mission teams. While P1 have always struck me as working for both missions and mass parade formation. I don’t know if that makes sense? We have a chance that it'll be even sooner than that. Their bestselling smart sets are mediocre sales for "dumb" sets. Most of their dumb sets are at the bottom of the barrel and being beaten by retired sets. Unless the amazon sales are wildly different than lego.com sales or other retailers (which, anecdotally they're doing terrible at every retailer I've been to), I think the 2027 smart sets may be in question. If sales don't pick up, and if those sets weren't meant for January 2027, I think there's a chance lego pulls the plug. Not a huge chance given they've invested so much into this, but I don't think they're guaranteed by any means- I could also see one or two of them getting retooled into "dumb" sets, which would be a massive win for Echo Base. I mean... one guy and his kid, I guess, but even then, that's one Kryze and two Vizslas (I would assume none of Bo's people were House Kryze given they literally all abandon her despite her seemingly still being clan head). I can get that the night of a thousand tears was devastating, but I don't see it being order 66 level destructive. The mandalorians were a regional power, they lived on a variety of planets in multiple systems, I can't believe their numbers were reduced to some post-apocalyptic survivors, a group of Bo's mercenaries, and a single small covert. (I also have larger issues with the whole of the retaking of mandalore and how small-scale it was. Seemingly less than a hundred mandalorians.) This was intentional- Lucas based the P2 clones' style off american soldiers and their customization in vietnam. The P1 soldiers were meant as a much more uniformly costumed and amassable group, in part because of the technology limits at the time. Early republic commando-looking concept art shows a more customizable design for them before the rocketeer-esque finned helmets were chosen. Quote

I agree, P1 is more distinct and I think more charming of a design. But P2 actually got to have unique designs in the flims so they'll always be the "main" ones. 16 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Yes but that’s now irrelevant because… A) My Commando Corps claimed it by right of conquest B) Luigi controls all markets and industry with his pizzeria C) Brickheadz Joker is coming Well Dummy beat them numerous times back in the day, I don't think they were ever successful. I think that Lucas hadn't settled on the Clones being individuals until after AotC, there's the lore explanation of them not getting any nurture to become that until the war starts though so it works out. TCW bridges the gap with Clones customising their armour while P1. Quote

Ragebaiting is an artform. I think it's due to the AT-TE consistently selling well enough to stay on shelves, seemingly like it might retire soon so they'll be fair game. Knowing LEGO it'll be a pack with 2 501st and 2 ashoka troopers though. That's a pretty amusing way to put it. Yeah, the AT-TE performing this well for this long on the market may be the deciding factor on this. Other than that, I don't wanna see 332nd Troopers for the foreseeable future at all. So let's make it five plus years, please. On 5/10/2026 at 5:06 PM, Darth_Bane13 said: I think Lego needs to go back to phase 1 clones next. No one has problems with the P1 design, and we haven't gotten a proper amount of them since 2013. We had the clone command station but that was a Lego store exclusive which was hard to get, it also came with a commander so you couldn't really army build it. Definitely. They are still to bestow those precious helmet holes upon the aforementioned 41th Troopers. And they may make those Wolf Troopers after all. But after that, it should be Phase 1 full steam ahead. We only got the Shinies and Commander in the new style. No Captains, no Sergeants, no Lieutenants, let alone any named characters. Clone Extravaganza be damned, this one just feels incomplete. @Mandalorianknight We just ordered another (Cad) Bane of my existence for the most reasonable price possible. Fingers crossed everything goes down smoothly. Quote

LEGO is surely aware they can have another Rex and Cody to insanely boost any set with the phase 1 versions. I expect they will at some point do more Phase 1s. Maybe this year not introducing any new clones could be a sign it's the end of the road for the P2 domination Quote

A lot better than Commander Doom who’s a bit over designed imo. 2 hours ago, Renny The Spaceman said: LEGO is surely aware they can have another Rex and Cody to insanely boost any set with the phase 1 versions. If we have to have the SB then at least do something that makes sense. Oh. So that’s why the war crimes increased exponentially from season 4 onwards /s If at first you don’t succeed. TIE, TIE again. I just wanted to give Karen Traviss some credit as I do believe it's the first time we really see any individuality in clones in the book hard contact, published in 2004. 1 hour ago, CloneCommando99 said: And even when some P1s do have customisation there’s something charming about the simplistic/ more angled patterns. The biggest downfall of the smart brick IMO is that you have to move it around for each individual bit. A normal boost/mindstorms/whatever it's called now R2 would work a lot better. Given the P1 clones used a lot of nazi march imagery in AOTC I wouldn't say that the historical influences are proportional to war crimes shown onscreen. (Also, you joke, but the Umbara atmosphere in S4 was very much vietnam based with the clones dealing with the constant traps and guerilla attacks, which from what I've heard from those involved was pretty accurate.) 4 hours ago, BrickPrick said: @Mandalorianknight We just ordered another (Cad) Bane of my existence for the most reasonable price possible. (With exception of Vader’s TIE) Despite all the May 4th promotion, since my last report the only sale number which has bumped up is the Falcon to 200+. On 5/9/2026 at 7:57 PM, Mandalorianknight said: Alright, here's the US numbers/analysis. Worst month yet for smart play, they're getting absolutely mollywopped by so many sets. Not that I mind, but I sure am really curious why; I suppose 95% of parents don't read AFOL reviews anyway, so know nothing of how bad the figures sound - though perhaps most even don't care for accuracy for that matter. The price for the TIE seems quite reasonable compared to other new sets, people buy overpriced sets all the time, I'd even argue they are better than the 4+ sets, so why? Lego claimed that Smart Play is so versatile and yet no other theme will get one in 2026. City should have a few sets too by now... On 5/6/2026 at 2:16 AM, Darth_Bane13 said: You can buy it sealed for around what it retailed for on eBay or BL. I just checked BL and you can get it for $75, at least in the US. I haven't bought anything on BL for such a long time that I've completely forgotten about it; thanks to reminding. Quote
