Usually our main source is retail listings, but these sound like they came from an inside source, hence the lack of set numbers. I don't think they were all that early had they been august 2026 sets, getting early names/descriptions for the august stuff early in the year isn't anything new. 5 hours ago, BrickPrick said: Yes, exactly. A little better sense of forward thinking would have, well, gone a long way. But maybe they did think things through? Part of me still finds it odd they're releasing so many Smart Play sets all at once instead of just releasing a couple of them to see the reception. Are they overly confident internally or more like the exact opposite and just want to get rid of them after long development? But then again, these sets are only available in a selected few countries, giving away that impression of testing the waters. I imagine if they weren't confident going in they wouldn't have made so many. They may have been in development for awhile, but if they were worried about it I could easily have seen them starting with just the three sets that actually include smart bricks. Making so many and having all the ones that don't even include smart bricks makes me think they were very confident these would perform well. 10 minutes ago, PrinceLucius said: Ps. Alex_South Posted May 2 Posted May 2 I think it's fair for folks to be disappointed in the hutt sentry droid. It currently looks like the only shot at getting a Hutt Cartel set, and there were far better options than a 15$ mech build + junk tacked on. Overall, the star wars line has become a victim of it's own success in that lego feels confident doing the bare minimum they can possibly get away with while still selling max price, the UCS N-1 is a great example IMO but this set is also another good example: There are numerous tiny little details that could have improved the set, look at the trailers and other toys embo wields dual scythes in the trailer and in toys, you're telling me LEGO didn't have some random ninjago scythes laying around to include as additional accessories from trailers we suspect these tunnels feature mando riding on a STAP, it's like 5 extra pieces to include that build mando is seen in trailers fighting these droids with an Amban Rifle, that's an additional accessory that could also have been included for the high price of 3 pieces this palace is where we see Din not wearing a helmet, seems like a great set to provide a hairpiece for a helmetless "captured" Din I feel like they could have added a lot of polish with just a few extra pieces. Smart Play is still selling abysmally on Amazon. (With exception of Vader’s TIE) Despite all the May 4th promotion, since my last report the only sale number which has bumped up is the Falcon to 200+. They are also now all already on discounts ranging from £5-10. And since Amazon is the largest online retailer and the most widely known one with the discounts… I don’t imagine that things are doing so well on Lego.com at full price. And all but Vader’s TIE are getting outpaced by the 4 year old AT TE (actually good set before clone slop started) which has 300+ sales. Really should have just released the 3 Smart Brick sets to see whether there was actually a market. Instead of comprising the entire year. At this rate i’m not even sure if they’ll make back the extraordinary marketing budget. We’ll get that TIE Avenger in no time /s (Day #372) 15 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: Two Boots: "Lawson, I made a steak" Lawson, who within 15 minutes has gone from law enforcement officer to mass murder of TK Troopers and who's son's life is in imminent danger: "A STEAK?" I know people dislike her choices in Ahsoka but I also think that was entirely the point- she makes an Anakin style decision to save her loved on at the expense of the wider galaxy) As much as I'd love them to, they've dug somewhat of a hole. The High Republic retcons a lot of tech, so unless they want to drastically change a lot of aspects of the era, or create a dark age that sets tech back thousands of years (which would retcon the time of peace thing but TBH I think High Republic already escalated conflict beyond what you could call generally peacetime), they can't do it right. Of course, they could also just generally retcon out chunks of the high republic, which would be my preferred option. I suppose they're generally functional- unless you look at them from the back, or try to take their legs apart from the torso, or vader. But I agree the builds and prices are the bigger issues. It's an excellent point at the end there, and one that has wider usage with lego's tech integration attempts- lego is very focused on creating a bridge between ipads and physical toys, when kids are either using the physical toys as breaks from or instead of ipads. If a kid gets unlimited Ipad time legos that beep at him aren't going to draw his attention anymore than normal legos. That child is lost to the tablet. And a kid who's already eschewing tech or being made to partially eschew it by good parents probably isn't going to want his legos to beep at him. It's the closest we could get, but the blackout mandos not having black helmets would be frustrating to me. The issue with Syril for Janix police is that as an army-buildable figure who appeared once in a $70 set, he's now around $13-15 each in the US, and only his torso would really be usable- with no helmets that fit at all. And as you say Devon just doesn't work. True, but he's also somehow significantly cheaper than Syril- I may pick a few up since the one copy of his head I have from back then keeps getting shunted between a number of characters in my collection, and it never hurts to have more of those trenchcoats or commando torsos. True about Maul, though I'd say he's unquestionably a villain. He may be a protagonist and a villain, but he's 100% an evil character- sort of like what they've allegedly done with Bullseye in the daredevil reboot I refuse to watch- he may be trying to ally himself with the protagonists, but he's also just a mentally unstable mass murderer in it because he has a personal grudge against other villains. I think Lawson's unquestionably a protagonist through and through. There was a big leak around the time the first episode aired with some major spoilers, so I won't speak on anything relating to how Devon ends the season. Absolutely agree on the latter part, and it's part of why my only major complaint with the show is that they don't extend that exploration to the empire, or characters like Kebris. But it's nice to see so much development for characters like Maul, Rook, Vario, etc. Even Daki, Lawson, Two-Boots, etc, while not antagonists, are characters given greater ambiguity and depth than you'd typically see from star wars. I don't know how to feel about the new IG unit head- it looks nice, but was it necessary? I'm unsure. Correct… and that choice requires a consequence, and that consequence requires a weapon: Thrawn. (Maul quotes aside, I'm still holding out hope for S2 to redeem my opinion of S1. I definitely prefer enjoying Star Wars, truly.) I can see a dark ages between the Old and High Republics being in order. Speaking as far as real world precedent, there's been several very ancient civilizations with tech that competed with Roman era technology (the name of the one escapes me… somewhere in India, I believe). Let's be real here too; the only media the High Republic claims are books, comics, and a show that felt more like the Prequel era than anything prior. There wouldn't need to be much retconning in my eyes. My personal thought–similar to what you said—is to explain the "modern" tech away with a Sith-induced dark age. Maybe there's an aspect of peacetime dismantlement too. Exactly, it's an issue with LEGO's core tech philosophy. I certainly shied away from beeping toys as a youngling. To be honest, I'm not sure what kid—old enough for LEGO, that is— enjoys toys with lights and sounds. So the solution to me, a complete unprofessional of course, would be for LEGO to stand out stronger and bolder with the audience that doesn't like tech during playtime. The adage "If you can't beat them, join them," doesn't ring true in this case; the one about water and oil does. It is fascinating that LEGO's "Adults Welcome" promises an escape from technology, while LEGO increasingly pushes technology into children's hands. True about the blackout Mandos. That's a fair callout about Syril too—I hadn't realized how expensive he had gotten. Still, the parts for Janix cops do exists, even if they are rarer than even the parts I had called unobtainable. He's an undeniably cool fig. It seems like the majority of Overwatch characters got a whole lotta love; I'll need to pay more attention the next time I visit my second-hand LEGO stores. Right on. I do agree he's a villain in the show, even more so in Star Wars as a whole. I was trying to speak from a literary standpoint, which speaks more to who is driving/opposing the plot than who should be considered an ethical and moral hero. This is one of the few cases where a main character in a SW is presented as evil and not already mired in tragedy from his actions. (Before anyone asks, no, I won't let this devolve into another "Rebels are or aren't terrorists" argument, lol.) So I agree; just trying to explain my point better. Huh. I thought you meant one leak that I saw accidentally, but now I'm not too sure, lol. All I've got to say is that I've got major hype for the finale. It's true what's been said; this show just gets better and better each episode. I really do appreciate the efficient pacing this show has; every scene services the fleshing out of these characters while never failing the plot's momentum. I can't help but agree about Kebris, though. It was frustrating his only development took place came when he had a role to play in the plot. This show's writing is simply spot on, and after binging (wait for it…) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I couldn't accept any less. The IG head looks like an action figure head or something from M*g*bl**ks. While I appreciate the effort into upgrading the IG look, I would've taken anything else. The worst part is the self-congratulatory attitude they seem to have about it too. That's true as well. Now, if the Smart Brick actually blows up a LEGO TIE, I'd be equally excited as horrified. Lol, I appreciate it. I do dislike the term "clone slop," since LEGO has never been great at action figures—aside from Galidor. However, after seeing what Ninjago can cook up with their not-18+ sets, I'm finding myself disgruntled with the basic dioramas and repetitive helmet sets. It's all tacky to me. (I want to see if I can replace the black border of the Dagobah diorama with an organic base.) To be fair, most of these marketing decisions seem planned far out in advance. I haven't watched Rebels and have no personal fondness for Zeb. Oh, really nice deal, man. I'm one of those bozos who purchased the RC at $130, lol. ALONG WITH THE BOUNTY HUNTER PURSUIT? AND A TIE AVENGER? I was gonna say I was conflicted about the advent calendars… then I saw the price. Shockingly, City beats out the Star Wars and Marvel calendars for me by a mile; better price, and better bang for my personal collection. That said, I am a Fandalorian at heart, and it's gratifying to see Moff Gideon return and Din receive an ugly sweater finally (because a sweater can't fit over Mandalorian armor while it could easily go over Vader's). Pretty sure if I would be uninterested otherwise. Depending on how the scene plays in the movie will determine my final opinion on the Hutt Droid Sentry (Bob?). In addition to the Star Wars brand name being used as an excuse to not make the best sets anymore, the theme is generally WAY too spread out for its own good. You can roughly categorise Lego's current Star Wars portfolio as: 4+ / Juniors Playscale (including Microfighters, Battle Packs, and useless gimmicks like mechs) Smart Play Buildable Characters Buildable Statues (18+) Starship Collection (18+) Busts (18+) Helmets (18+) UCS (18+) I think this is a fairly accurate way to break down the theme as a whole given each of the above categories is its own thing, with different design philosophies, build compositions etc. But yeah, that's nine different sublines under LEGO Star Wars. There is no way to maintain that many different types of sets without heavily beginning to compromise on them, and unfortunately playscale is the biggest victim of that. No other theme is as vastly spread out as Star Wars is, which deprives this theme of a core identity as well as a growing impression of throwing bantha poodoo at the wall and just seeing what sticks. And agree, the Guard Droid set really is the bare minimum, and you can tell they're relying on Embo and not-Marrok to sell the set. 5 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Yeah. This year, despite the number of TMaG sets we've currently seen, the only set I'm planning to get so far are Cobb Vanth's Speeder and maybe the NR X-Wing. For me personally there's a lot riding on the Sandcrawler, AT-AT, and Imperial Shuttle being good sets which I'm sure they will be, because past that we now have 90% certainty that's basically it in terms of playscale for 2026. Swordy Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) Yep, Lamda is an instant must-have. Moff Gideon looks even better than in the Light Cruiser, Pershing and the pilot are great figs, but that shuttle looks gorgeous. The only concern I have is that the top fin and wings are too short, but besides that the layering and detail is immaculate. As I said, I'd need to sunbake the AT-RT Driver helmet to perfection first. Shaping looks spot on. Maxi-Vader is fine. I think the lens reflection on the helmet is a bit too cute, but a worthy effort on avoiding a soulless look. As for the shaping of the helmet… I may be too picky, but I feel like they never get it exactly right. This time the helmet looks like it lacks width for how tall it is, making Vader look like nothin' but a hound dog. The brickbuilt lightsaber is fun; I want a trans-neon green one next. Edited May 2 by Swordy Quote
Calanon Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Light grey arms & legs for the shuttle is a weird choice. The pilots wear black flightsuits, like TIE pilots. It's a faded black so I could see using dark grey like they did for Bodhi Rook but light grey? Really? Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) I’m very conflicted. Exterior is the best a play-scale shuttle has ever been. It even has fully retractable landing gear and the ramp is in the right place this time. Interior appears to be inferior to 2015. It looks like it’s only 6 studs wide. And the top fin isn’t as tall as it should be, but I don’t mind that. Would have also preferred Elia Kane to kriffing Mando again. I’ll need to see more before I decide if I should upgrade my 2015 model. Edited May 2 by CloneCommando99 Quote

Yup- which is what I choose to do, unless the material just has no redeeming qualities in my eyes. I know Ahsoka's not Andor, but it's fun. It feels like star wars. I can look aside some of the points I dislike (Sabine using the force, Filoni turning Ahsoka into an actual demigod) in favor of all the good it has. They can definitely do it if they soft-retcon or at least handwave some high republic stuff, but a galaxy-wide civilization losing all that tech would have to mean not just a dark age but galaxy-wide cataclysm to cap off the old republic. Which now that I say it, could actually be pretty sick and lead to a really impactful finale. (Though I'm also one of those weirdos who thinks TROS should have ended with the Force ascending from the living to the unifying force, so force users can no longer directly wield it and the galaxy is freed from the struggles of jedi and sith- Jedi becoming a philosophy rather than a powerset.) Yup. I think it's simply a case of competing marketing strategies- they've realized how to market to adults, but still are trying to use tech to draw away Ipad kids. The torsos at least- do you have a helmet you'd suggest. If you're in an area that receives bricklink, it's often much cheaper than secondhand stores even with shipping, since most of them don't require brick-and-mortar stores or paid front desk employees. The Overwatch figures are definitely all great, I say as someone who's never played the games or really seen anything of them besides the lego sets. Lots of good new parts. I see, and agree. (Though I will say Saw for sure falls into the latter category- the Inferno Squad book describes some activity of his that doesn't even need to be removed from SW phrasing to mirror some tragic real-world attacks. And on a less objective level he's directly responsible for Tech's death.) I can't say what format the leak is because it would sort of imply one of the major things from it, but we've only a few days to wait anyway. Agreed that the show is extremely good- I'll say again probably minute-for-minute on par with or even exceeding Andor. And yes, Kebris feels uncharacteristically one-dimensional for this show. (And what, Agents of Shield? You've never mentioned watching that before, - I should probably give it a try at this point.) Quote

We are likely going to see Embo's ship and all those Hutt cartel ships in the movie, and most of us would have preferred a playset around those builds, the mech is fine, it's just the most boring choice. But even though i disagree with the playset overall there were still so many easy ways to polish it off with just a few more parts, the backside of the door should have a bunch of clips to store embo's gear, maybe even a net, whatever, this is a straight to bricklink set for Embo and Kiba The shuttle is interesting, again my complaint stands with Mando, where is his spear? It's 1 piece but it would at least make him a "variant" in terms of included accessories. The shuttle build looks like the interior is more narrow, but potentially taller, i am wondering if they somehow managed to make a continuous stand-able interior from back to front with a slight opening connecting the two areas and then 1 seat up front, it looks like it may be possible, that would be amazing. 2015 looked like a perched pterodactyl when landed, which was awesome, this one I think has more accurate landing gear but it lacks the cool stance. Some of the design looks a little cleaner, some stuff looks a bit more awkward, the wings are too wide, which i am assuming was intentional to give more access to the interior through the side panels which also look like they will open cleaner on this one. I am most interested in the interior, if they managed to make it standing height throughout i will be impressed. Quote
Kaijumeister Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Very impressed with the Imperial Shuttle, with the exception of the wing sizing it looks like a good upgrade over the 2015 version and I’ll definitely be buying it! Whilst it’s great to finally get characters like Pershing, I feel the minifigure selection is quite drab, but it’s a strong set all in all. Keen to see the interior. Saying that, with Mando pretty much being the sole focus for playscale this year and them going through the effort of producing an updated Season 1/2 Moff Gideon, it would have been the perfect opportunity for Lego to finally introduce an Outland TIE. I have a sneaking suspicion that we can expect to see one sooner rather than later given Gideon’s Christmas sweater featuring one, and it’ll be a reason to reuse the IG-11 head too. The Remnant AT-RT Driver helmet is perfection, the proportions and angles are so geometrically satisfying to look at. It’s a set I’d love to build at some point but not necessarily keep. And finally, the Vader maxifig is mostly awesome. I’m getting a kick out of the upscaled lightsaber build and how accurate it looks, plus it looks like they’re continuing to refine the accuracy of the minifigure silhouette with these maxifig builds. The helmet is the one thing that doesn’t look quite right to me, it looks too tall and not wide enough. Overall, it’s strong lineup of sets. I do think there’s a little too much overlap with the non-playscale stuff this year (e.g., Vader Bust AND Maxifig, Buildable Grogu AND Yoda Bust despite being different characters etc.) but we’ll see how that pans out for Lego. I’m starting to worry Lego will put off the AT-AT, Sandcrawler, and Boba statue reveals for another month or two despite revealing 75451 which is literally from the same wave. Wish they’d stop doing piecemeal reveals for sets that release at the same time. Edited May 3 by Kaijumeister Quote
BrickPrick Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Okay, some of my thoughts about the latest and greatest in the Lego Star Wars world: 2026 Advent Calendar: It's nice. That's it. No more, no less. Thanks to a third ugly sweater figure it's basically a better overall package than the 2021 Mando one. Not including another Christmas rendition of the holy GONK droid, I would consider to be a critical sin but to be fair, they weren't featured that prominently in the show. The new moulds for IG are awesome, though. Will pick it up at the usual discounts. Hutt Palace Sentry Droid Showdown: It's certainly nice to have Embo back after all this time. We also don't get a whole lot of new moulded creatures at all, so that's appreciated as well. However, the same can not be said about the set itself. I just don't associate Star Wars with Mechs that much, even if its present in-universe this time around, not merely a fantasy byproduct. Even then, in terms of colour sheme, it looks nothing like the source material. Is this yet another case of Lego not getting the memo in time? And they just said to themself "eh, lets just make a beefed up Boba Fett Mech, can't go wrong with that!". Either way, would luckily get Embo elsewhere. If not, this set screams deep discount to me at best. Imperial Lambda-Class Shuttle: My most exciting new set right now. Seems to be a clear improvement over the 2021 version, rightfully so. Of course, it won't exactly be 140€ cool, so it will be the usual ~30% off for bigger sets. The minifig selection is solid as well. Will be good to get Season 2 Moff Gideon after all. Would have happily traded the standard Stormie for another one of those cool looking pilots, but yeah... you obviously just get one. Lego gotta be Lego. Scaled Up Darth Vader Minifigure: I dunno... I kinda like it. Looks appealing. But at the end of the day, it's yet another new sub-theme, let alone an additional expensive set in a year already chock-full of them, I have zero interest in. Imperial Remnant AT-RT Driver: Well, it's another helmet. Edited May 3 by BrickPrick Quote
ArrowBricks Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I guess a lot of this year depends if The Mandalorian is your thing or not. Next year will have the 50th Anniversary etc, so should be packed with classic Star Wars. The Remnant AT-RT Driver Helmet is really well done, I am just not sure enough people are going to care about it. There’s so many better options. It feels like Mando-inspired stuff had to be released across all the different sub-themes. God knows why a Mid-Scale RazorCrest has not been chosen. Imperial Shuttle looks pretty good, need to see the interior. Figures are ok, but they do feel underwhelming. Up-Scaled Vader is a baffling choice personally, I can’t see this doing well. It’s just ANOTHER sub theme. The Embo set is naff, I do feel like those figures should have just been released in the RazorCrest or something. A quiet May 4th on the LEGO front. For me, this has been a really good lens to show how little value is on offer currently from LEGO directly. It’s all over-priced, downscaled, corner-cutting, and certainly uninspiring. Maybe LSW just isn’t for me currently, and I think I am willing to accept it. Quote
brimbolet Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Really torn on the shuttle; Cons: don't like the downscaled wing size, the cockpit (I think the 2021 version looks better) and the minifigs; Pros: size and shaping are good, working landing gear and hopefully a good interior. The Scythe was great in that respect. Prices for old used shuttles are pretty high so I guess I'll get this one on sale later and buy a TIE bomber in the following days instead. Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I had a nightmare last night. It went something like this. Just to be clear this is day #373 of asking for a dumb play-scale TIE Avenger Shuttle should have included another Pilot and Elia Kane instead of Mando. He’s in too many sets already. Really interested to see how/ if they manage a decent troop bay in the shuttles. I could see benches being used. Quote

Lego certainly uses desirable characters to sell sets, but we're calling the hutt droid set of all things a minifigure pack? Something like Peridea I could maybe see, but no, I think if you look at a $50, 415 piece set and think the only value is a minifigure and small molded animal, I think there's an element of projection going on. Disliking the build doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And to that point, if you think the only value in lego sets are the minifigures and that it's basically just tiny black series with pieces thrown in... why not just buy black series? 5 hours ago, BrickPrick said: I just don't associate Star Wars with Mechs that much, even if its present in-universe this time around, not merely a fantasy byproduct. Even then, in terms of colour sheme, it looks nothing like the source material. There's a lot of misunderstandings going around with the sentry droid, I think: 1. The sentry droid is not a mech. I don't really understand where people are getting that one from- it's not the first big droid we've seen in star wars. There's a shot implying Grogu can get into the wiring like Ant-Man sneaks into Iron Man's suit, so maybe in the movie he's able to control it somehow (like jedi have controlled droids before), but it's stated in the name of the set that it's a sentry droid. It's an autonomous robotic intelligence, not a piloted vehicle. 2. The color scheme does appear to be accurate. We've only seen it in very drab lighting so far, but even in those shots you can make out a lot of details present on the mech. Not just the bandolier or the third arm, but specific patches of dark green and dark red. (Not to mention that were this grey, everyone would be complaining about another big grey star wars set.) 59 minutes ago, CloneCommando99 said: I had a nightmare last night. It's a weird mix of figures to be sure, with aspects of both the 2x7 pershing capture and just generic imperial shuttle loadout. If it's based on the Pershing capture, it wouldn't need Kane, but neither would it need the stormtrooper or Gideon- it should have been another pilot and Cara. If it's a generic imperial shuttle loadout, like you say, why are we throwing Din in here? It's not like LSW lacks the budget and needed to re-use him, especially when they could have simply re-used a pilot or stormtrooper. It is also not as if pretty much anyone will have this $140 imperial shuttle as their only set featuring Din. Quote
Llewop Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I’ve gone and done something I didn’t think I would do but I’ve gone and bought a load of SW sets to get the GWP and cash in on the double points. What got me in the end is I want the shuttle and I’ll probs want the AT-AT and so I’ve bought a bunch of the smaller sets. Got the new X wing, the AT-RT attack (can’t believe I’ve paid full price for it) and some of the smaller sets that all come out this year. My thinking was in the end the razor crest, AT-AT and shuttle will all go on big 25%-30% discounts at some point and they’ll save me more money than buying them at rrp and buying all the smaller sets on 25-30% sales. Good news is all these Mando and Grogu figures I’ve got 2 kids who one is getting in to Lego and SW and the other one day might so a lot of the smaller cheaper sets I will keep for them when they are older. I do have one question about the AT-AT is it supposed to be a June set or an August set? If it’s June I’m guessing the reveal is imminent. I’m also guessing if we are getting stuff in August that’ll be coming soon seeing as other themes have had leaks for August release. Quote

AT-AT releases in AugusT-AugusT. (Though I remember hearing May/June early on, I believe that was a misattribution of the $130 set that turned out to be another buildable grogu.) I agree that a reveal, or at least leak, should be any day now, especially since lego's already revealed at least one of their august TMAG sets with the Hutt Sentry Droid. Quote
