I'm not complaining (well, maybe I am- I guess I should say I'm not saying lego should start trying to sell these in the US because those sort of activity magazines aren't as big here) but man, the ability to get figures like that so cheap is awesome.

With the tin box it's more like 8 or 9 Euros for Jango and that is not different from the Bricklink price. Personally I never bought any of the magazines that comes with a tin box because I have no use for it and it makes the minifigure too expensive. The tin box is just a expensive way to produce a tiny bit of scrap metal  

The Commando Droid - this month's magazine gift - is much cheaper on Bricklink.

But generally the magazines are a great way to get minifigs. Especially when I was new into Lego after my Dark Ages I bought every magazine to build a little collection of minifigs and most important to me, get some more fleshies (from other themes as well - I am looking at you Owen Grady !)

No, no need. I feel that the less that film is mentioned, the better, lol. Although if you're in need of some wait time after Waiting Game, you could always do a retrospective Iron Man 2 parody featuring yourself, Mara Jade, @BrickPrick, Mara Jade, @BrickPrickagain (because he plays both Nick Fury and War Machine I now realize), and of course the lovely Mara Jade.

I do believe it must be said once again: Congrats on one year of TIE Avenging! Why, last year feels like a lifetime ago, yet it's hard to believe you've crossed such a major threshold with this campaign.
Of course, it goes without saying that if the LEGO Group doesn't immediately announce a TIE Avenger now, I say the might of Blacktron finishes… whatever war between England and Dane you like to reference so much, lol.

Thanks. Honestly TIE microfighters are pretty easy for me to pump out since I've got the core "ball" designed, so I usually just have to throw on some ~50 piece wings and make a few small changes.

Ah. I mean that is rougher but still a marked improvement over the BL prices if we take into account that you can just pop over at the store to grab it instead of paying the figure's cost again in shipping.

But it is very surprising lego did nothing. It's such a toyetic show, as you point out. Major kid-favorite villain, cool masked force users, plenty of troopers, mandalorians, spaceships, etc.

I think both should be excellent builds if the sandcrawler is any indication.

I second this concern for those two sets. As well as for an A-Wing. An a Mos Eisley Cantina. And the rumoured Hoth Echo Base.

They may still surprise us with a set or two later down the road. But as of right now, this is as classy Lego as it gets. I'm not even surprised anymore.

I've been following his content for quite a while now. He seems to be a genuinely good guy, but he doesn't strike me as one of the insiders putting out those leaks in the first place. It's more like another person catching up to the stuff that's already known and available to read elsewhere. To be fair, he never claims these leaks to be his own. So yeah, I would take this rumour with a grain of salt, without accusing him of any ill intent or something.

Five Lonely Clones is one of my favorite low-key Youtubers to watch, but I agree I don't think he has access to any more insider info than you or I. (Nor does he claim to.) I enjoy talking about Lego and his channel is pretty much just somebody talking about Lego. Plus it feels like every other Youtube video is an hour long nowadays and he does not generally do that.

He’s alright and his videos are pretty decent. I’ve been paying attention to the recent run of best minifig polls he’s been doing. I will say that the Clone glaze in them is abysmally shocking half the time. 

I’m a Jang, Brick Yoda and Solid Brix guy myself. But I’d definitely take Lonely over Brickreporter or JediBricks any day of the week even despite the latter arguably now being a reliable leaker. I just really dislike their click bait, it’s way worse than most YouTubers.

 

Herbie leaked. So surely the AT AT and Shuttle are a matter of time?

Sucks because First Brother, Eleventh Brother, Devon, a hooded / cloaked Maul, and some TK Troopers (not to mention the Mauldos) would IMO make for some awesome and fresh new minifigures compared to mostly rehashes from the Mandalorian, but alas that’s what Lego has chosen to go for.

@CloneCommando99 I think they’ll drag out the Star Wars reveals unfortunately. I’d be surprised if they get revealed soon.

I can’t help but wonder what the ‘Hutt Droid’ set will involve, and I’m 99% sure it will include a main build of one of the stop motion droids guarding the Hutt twins and maybe 3 minifigures? Mando for sure (hopefully not Grogu because he’s already in e^x other sets this year) and 2 unique mercenary droids would be my guess. Maybe a STAP build too.

I know things can change as we still haven’t seen the full lineup this year, but I’m again surprised at the lack of brand new minifigure moulds thus far, discounting Grogu, Zeb’s head, and the AT-RT driver reintroducing the shore trooper helmet.

I know there is no logic to leaks. But August sets leaking before June/July is very weird we must be due something more from them soon. also if there is anything coming in August then that might be due soon even though we might know somethings but nothing is certain. 
 

I do think the MSL set is a wishful thinking set a Chinese whispers set. 
 

I am longing for these pics just to see if there is anything I want otherwise it’s back to my castle sets.

Shadow Lord, you may have forgotten me, but I have not forgotten you! You cannot imagine the depths I would go to to stay alive, fueled by my singular desire to have sets of you!

(Though the Mauldos are just being paid ATP, not like the ones who see him as the true leader of mandalore in TCW, hence the blackout armor and lack of horns- and while Rook has red on her armor still I get the sense she's not a diehard for Maul's vision either. I've been using Blackout Mandos to refer to them)

The good news there is the smart X-wing and NR X-wing released a month apart. It's possible that disney wanted them to make an NR X-wing and it just so happened that the timelines for TMAG and Smart Brick matched up (which I think is totally possible), but there is a real chance that lego understands smart brick sets to be different enough from normal lego sets that we can have both versions on shelves at the same time. (Though if the august rumors are true it seems it'll still cut into our total sets)

We said this last year and it turned out to not be true, but I don't know what we could even get with the two remaining sets. 2 molds for the snowtrooper, maybe one or two in the hutt and droid set? 

Unless the mythical august (I'll clarify full lest I incur the correction of the resident bob le'sponge) wave materializes, I do think we end up with significantly fewer molds this year than in previous ones.

But at the same time, Ewok Village and Zam's Speeder alone could more than double the number of molds we currently have.

Tell me about it. One of the recent polls put Commander Bly over Lama Su. I could not believe it. Like I knew the Clone craze to be very strong at this point, but woah... this one doesn't sit right with me whatsoever. Would it have been a solidly executed Clone by modern standards, sure... I could get behind the holy Clone Trooper™ getting that extra edge over some more obscure characters.  But Bly of all things? Just disgusting.

Fair. I've been trying to be charitable and not assume negatives when we don't know, but the smart bricks definitely have a habit of taxing that philosophy.

 

Watched the new Maul Episodes, I think they picked back up a bit. I still think that for an otherwise very morally complex show the empire's a little simplistic, but we got a LOT of focus and depth on Maul and his henchmen, Lady Kast, Devon, and even some on Daki.

First the mandalorians, for no particular reason. I would like a better number of how many blackout mandos there were- it seems now like there were ten but I swear we never saw more than two at a time until now. I loved the complexity we got with some of the Mandalorians being like "eh, this is a little much for us we wanna cash out" with others staying alongside Maul. And it was cool to see that while some of them snaked out, a number of them retained their honor and stood by Lady Kast. After these two episodes I absolutely love Rook herself. I'm starting to think she's not a bad person, she's just stuck with loyalty to Maul since he is, legally, the king of Mandalore. I mourn the loss of the Aka'jor and the Blackout Mando killed by the LAAT at the start of the fight. (Not the slimes who stole the shuttle from Lady Kast, they deserved their fates)

Maul backstory/hallucinations are all great, he's extremely unstable in rebels and while much of that is assumably due to isolation, it's nice to see the cracks showing.

Spybot and Vario are both extremely good comic relief characters who don't overstay their welcomes screen-time wise. I like what they're leaning into with Spybot basically being Maul's dog. Vario continues to inexplicably have just as much aura as maul's other units.

They've finally cracked the code with Devon, she's the first kid jedi protagonist who doesn't start out as annoying. I think part of it is the voice actress, she's got good range between being comforting and some SAVAGE screams.

Daki is another great archetype. He's another one of many SW character types that's been flawed in the past but perfected here- the frustrating Jedi. Daki isn't over the top stubborn, he's not weirdly aloof, but he is stuck into Obi-Wan's final message. He can't comprehend a long term plan. And his failure to do so is what will drive Devon to Maul.

The inquisitors are also awesome, I think this is the first time since early rebels that they've actually felt like a threat. Having them wipe the floor with maul was a great choice for the story. Also cool to see the scythe again, and presumably get confirmation that it's not a unique ship. (Unless The Crow, like, checked it out of the inquisitorial car pool)

My one complaint is that the empire's still lacking the depth every other group has. I now fully believe the first officer should have been a more amenable guy, with generic officer sneer guy showing up after the first is killed by Sul.

That works pretty well. I was going to suggest her descendent Shatele since that shot of her blocking a lightsaber with her palm was burned into my young mind as the coolest jedi move ever, but she technically has a minifigure. Bastila fits much better as a sick force-user lady who's never gotten a minifig.

Looking at the site UI, it is always funny to see how lego splits stuff up. The options here being (aside from the pretty generic "toys" and "starships") being smart brick, clone troopers, and droids (as statues) fits pretty well. Though it is unfortunate OT is listed when aside from smart brick and UCS, there's a whopping two OT sets availible on the website- the 2024 ISD and 2023 bomber. Hopefully August can change that for us. I don't see any deals, though, where did you find those?

In engineering we call this Design for Failure. First set that you have to let cure.

Thank you! It's good to be back. This community here on Eurobricks is a rare breed of decency and civility on the internet, and I wouldn't trade it for nothin'.

Trust me, when I think of one, I immediately remember the other. They both even out in terms of coolness factor for myself; one worked with Revan, the other fought Malgus, and both of them stand out regardless. But yeah, ultimately it came down to whichever one lacked a minifig.

Lol, it's true. TLG have never been renowned for their tech, which may clue into why they're marketing Smart Play so much.
Seeing but two OT playsets on LEGO.com just brings to mind all those mini-essays I wrote last year, lol, and the discussions we had then as well. For what they're worth, I'm glad the Smart Play sets have brought the OT trio back into sub-$100 sets—although there's nary a sub-$30 option in sight, which is still a shame since kid-Swordy could never afford most sets northward of $50.  I don't know how kids make it these days.
At least there's an easily accessible set for kids to buy immediately after seeing Mando & Grogu; my top wish for 2027 is for the same to be true of Starfighter and even the original Star Wars.
The list of deals I found were at the usual place. Which I assume is understood as r/Legoleaks? (Rancor don't eat me.) 

My cynical heart can't wait for resellers in 10 years to upcharge sun-damaged versions of the AT-RT driver helmet, saying it's the "UNRELEASED 2026 LSW Shore Trooper helmet".

Seriously though, physical merchandise helps me connect to new Star Wars in ways the actual show/movie sometimes cannot, so the lack thereof does sting. I'm so glad that we've had TCW Maul and Marrok in the past few years, because that does help tide me over; I can't imagine being a fan who missed out on those two figures. Even purist customs can't work completely here, since we've never had a pink/red Twi'lek headpiece, and pieces for yellow-skinned Zabraks and all-black Mandos are hard to obtain.

But yeah, this year introduces a surprisingly low number of new pieces compared to previous years, given there’s a new movie which is usually the source for a whole bunch of new parts! 

Maybe there will be a couple more in the remaining sets, but I’m not expecting much here. I guess we can also blame the SB sets for that one  Their budget has to come from somewhere, after all!

And to tie it back to SpongeBob, all is forgiven if the upcoming Icons set introduces updated pieces for all the characters  Entirely separate budget, I know, but this would balance the scales in my book!
