LEGO Ninjago Ongoing Rumours and Discussion

If the trends of the last few years hold then we should be due for another Ninjago City set next year (they've doing one every other year for a while). Even if they end that line, I imagine they'd keep doing sets in the same vein since they seem to be pretty popular.- 795 replies

New official images for the Legends sets are out, my thoughts haven't changed much from my initial appraisal but I do think it's neat that you can remove the Ultra Dragon from the stand.- 795 replies

A new Helms Deep would be interesting but I don't think it seems too likely for next year. I agree with the suggestion that it'll probably be something smaller, not sure what but hopefully it can cover some of them big gaps we've still got.

Ah gotcha, well at least we won't have to wait too long regardless since they're out fairly soon (except in the US, from what I hear).- 795 replies

Been looking at the sets some more and I think the Wyldfire dragon mech is definitely my favorite DR set, might end up getting that one depending on what my Lego budget for the year looks like. I think both forms look great and the minifigure selection is pretty great too (interesting that it doesn't include any og ninja considering the minifigure count but idr if this is the first time that's happened for a set with three heroes). Also has anyone seen higher quality images of the Ultra Dragon? That's the one I'm most interested in but it didn't have HD pictures on the usual place I go for leaks.- 795 replies

It's definitely not bad as one, I was just kind of expecting something bigger based on the last few years. I think shifting the largest price point sets to be purely legends makes a lot more sense though, cause like how many kids were getting the Temple Bounty or the Tournament Temple City anyway?- 795 replies

Are we missing any? Feels like the wave is still kind of missing a flagship set at the very least. That said, what's here is pretty great! I am a little confused as to what's going on in 71871 but it's a very interesting idea at least. Getting a sort of new take on the Land Bounty is awesome, it doesn't look as big but I don't think that's strictly an issue. And the Ultra Dragon looks absolutely awesome, there's a pretty good chance I'll end up getting that one.- 795 replies

Haven't seen the Wyldfire dragon yet but the Twin Titan mechs look very cool. I do find it a little weird that they didn't make the Kai Legends mech from last year part of the titan mech line (and that we're now getting another big Kai mech again), but they both look quite awesome and I appreciate how you can customize them a bit by mixing around the removable sections around the shoulders. Also interesting that the Kai and Nya minifigs have swappable heads to make them different characters?- 795 replies

Oh cool, I thought it was weird that there wasn't one but I didn't there actually was one. I'll just cross post it there.

Picked up the Ocarina of Time Final Battle set, all around very happy with it. Minifigures are great, Ganon is fantastic, and even the scenery looks pretty good (which is impressive considering how barren that arena is in-game). I was thinking about building Ganondorf a sword based on the OoT concept art that went on to be used in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to make one I'd be interested to hear them! I suppose I could always just give him an Uruk-hai sword but that seems a little smaller than ideal.

Wow that's a pretty disappointing way to end the anniversary sets haha (unless there's another coming that I'm not aware of). In fairness, it definitely doesn't look like a bad build, but I'm not super interested in the oversized vehicles personally and even at that size I think the price is comically bad. What is this, Star Wars??? And the minifigure selection is also shockingly paltry, the new elemental master is nice but then you get a repeat Kai and a nindroid. I'm pretty sure it's technically a new version of the nindroid (unless I'm forgetting some other recent set that comes with one) but I don't really get who this is for. If you've been into Ninjago for years then you probably have a million of them already since they've been brought back so many times, and if you don't have any then one generic nindroid is just going to be kinda pathetic on its own. Like even if they just threw in another repeat Ninja and another Nindroid (maybe Cryptor if they could afford a unique torso print), that would go such a long way in making the set feel like a better value. $90 for an overpriced car and only three minifigures, two of which are not exciting in the least, just feels bad. Ultimately I don't care that much (idk why I even wrote so much about this set lmao) since this isn't the kind of thing I would buy regardless, but I will say that I am not a fan of this price. I know there have still been a lot of decently affordable sets in recent years but I feel like some of the options this year are testing the boundaries in a bad way.- 795 replies

Yeah I think it's just to make him sound cool and relatively unique, it helps set him apart from your more standard "Lloyd" or "Green Ninja."- 795 replies

Pretty sure that's his symbol on the back, so I'd assume so (although who knows, maybe the reason it's partly covered by the cloth print is to leave it up in the air). I guess we'll probably get explicit confirmation once we see the head.- 795 replies

I feel like Portal is enough of a classic that it could happen, but I do agree it seems a little more likely to be something more relevant.

Looks like I missed it, still have only seen a super low res pic so far. I like what I've heard though, definitely interested (assuming I end up having that much money to drop on a Lego this year, which is a very big assumption haha). I think ideally we'd just get another set to bulk up the roster, but yeah, if this is all that we're getting (which seems likely going by precedent), then I do wish it would have included a few more minifigures.
