New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Bricktrain replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I see the free shipping at S@H is now only for orders over $300. -
I guess you are qualified to comment on that but not really very constructive. In the posters opinion it is better, maybe not in your opinion, I dont have either so I have no opinion on these. I hope that my mobile when completed is the best ever, however in a few years I expect I will no longer think it is.

I have received one and have another on the way, I think it is worldwide. I am adding the cycle to my modded 60026 cycle shop. -

It does give me that message also but still adds it to the cart, then automatically sets shipping at express, there doesnt seem to be anyway not to pay the express shipping and just get the free shipping. It is working now, it wasnt giving me the dropdown box to choose shipping options, but all good now. I have been spending a small fortune on baseplates for my city layout recently. -
Not always, often a heavy load is picked up on the luff with a mobile as it compensates for the deflection of the boom, picking up on the hook will result in overluffing and the load will swing away, which can cause the crane to topple. Also the boom still has to be able to luff up with the load suspended so the load can be placed where required. Though the boom angle shown is far too low for a heavy lift. Max lift is over the rear of the crane, in as close as possible.

I guess mine is not reliable and senseful then, it is about 1.2m long, boom extends to 2.4m high with 32 pneumatic rams to luff the boom, 12 power puller wheels, pneumatic suspension, pneumatically lifted counterweights, 12 wheel steering and 8 wheel drive. Outriggers are each powered seperately and jacks are independantly pneumatically operated. The winch will not be synchronised with the telescoping of the boom as that is not a normal function of a real mobile crane. Hopefully it will be completed by the end of the year, everytime something has to be modified it is a major event to dismantle it and then there is the delay in waiting for Bricklink orders to arrive. Anyone else having problems with the S@H website, it will only give me express shipping, I am not intending to pay $120 for express shipping but I cant seem to get out of that option -
I only have a high school education, though I do have trade qualifications also. (Technician) We were discussing education relevance at work a while ago, my best subjects were technical subjects and I failed Geography in the final exam, yet I am now employed as a truck driver. Though I do drive for a crane company so most of our work is transporting and assembling cranes. Cranes have always been a favorite of mine, its not surprising I always have technic cranes as projects.

Definitely none on the shelves tonight when I went in. Ended up buying more city sets as I wont get to Toyworlds sale on Thursday. -
I like lego physics, it works for all sorts of things. Have you thought about making ramps at the front of the hoist instead of the tiles with handles, might not be as much fun as leapfrogging over the handles though.

I have built this this week also, it is a nice addition but not as inspired as the GG, FB or GE though in my opinion.

The warehouse had a few sets marked down and all city at 20% off on the weekend. Last week I saw a girl putting the Lone Ranger sets on the shelves but they must have pulled them as they werent there on the weekend, I guess they are meant to go out after the movie opens here, I think next month? -
Nice work. How hard is it to get the car through the door onto the hoist?
-
I have a few city sets not yet opened but all my technic are opened, but there are a few older technic sets I have downloaded instructions for that I havent got around to building yet. My big crane is a project I have sitting around, I get some inspiration sometimes and do some more work on it but it is something that needs the right frame of mind. Getting closer though, hopefully will have it finished this year.

Whenever I display my modified ones they always get plenty of attention, they look even better with the Metallic parts replaced with chrome. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5725691 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5725696 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5725707

Outrigger questions

As others have said, you can lift the crane when retracted but when extended they will only flex not support the crane. If you are only using a single acting cylinder how will you raise the feet once lowered?
