  1. I guess you are talking a hydraulic boom rather than a lattice boom like the LG1550 at work, though the LG is also available with a hydraulic boom but still uses the luffing winch and derrick like the lattice boom.
  2. This is how I did mine, http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3909612 hard to get the cylinder brackets cheaply now though, fortunately I have over 70 of them, though I could do with a few more
  3. nice mods, especially liking your handler
  4. Awesome, I need to build a fullsize one of those
  5. I would use one of these http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=61905 to join a large LA with an M motor, should work well for what you want. If you need one to try give me a PM
  6. 30% off a 42009 and 25% off a 42025 last week was my best deal in a while.
  7. Lovely build and nice photo presentation also.
  8. Nice starting collection, now you need to add buildings and trains, it just keeps growing ;-)
  9. One of the reasons for using a crawler over a mobile is its ability to track with a suspended load.
  10. I have used the large pumps to build compressors for that reason, they work better if you take the spring off when driving them with a motor.
  11. I use the color section of the catalog http://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp
  12. I havent used peeron for quite some time, the stone colours are the bluish greys, light and dark. you can also use the BL inventory http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=8275-1
  13. Great model. Having just completed assembly of a real one for a 14m diameter tunnel here I dont think I would be keen to build a model one.Nice to see some of the features that they have included like the segment feeder, though the one here is slightly different.

  15. The two on positions are for different directions if a motor is directly connected, it doesnt alter the direction if a receiver is used though
  16. Then I would hate to tell how many I do have. My new crane uses 32. They should be available, it wasnt that long ago they last used them, otherwise they are easy enough to get on Bricklink.
  17. each has its merits, I mostly enjoy Pneumatics, thats what got me back into Technic,LAs have benefits too, but try doing this with LAs
  18. If you can afford to buy another and are happy with used then buy them and keep the sealed set. I like to have built sets but I also like to keep sealed sets and some for resale later, so if I can afford to buy 3 then I have all bases covered. Sometimes I get one for parting out too.
  19. I think you need to rename this thread as it is nearly all your own collection
  20. Welcome. Sounds a very interesting crane. I have been working for a crane company for 2 years now and have still not completed my six axle model I was building before I started there. I have added several new features though that are found on real cranes. I wish I was at home more so I can do more building, working 80+ hours a week and being away for six months of the year doesnt help my building progress. I look forward to seeing how you cope with some of the difficulties that I have struck. Paul.
  21. The big difference is real cranes use electrically controlled hydraulics for steering not full mechanical systems. For my six axle crane I am using individual steering motors for each axle group but wont have any ackerman angle possible.
  22. Is the 8275 bulldozer complete, that would be a good buy in itself.
  23. Last new year I had a display with some of my trains running http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=519857
  24. Another shock is the transparent clear damped shock, it is stiffer than most of the other shocks and has greater travel 32181c02 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32181c02
