looks great. I have done some of my tracks mostly with greyish colourings, but am going to remove it all so I can build all my bases with one brick height below the building platform so they can be transported as modules.

42009 Owners ... Speak Up!

not as boring as red cars -
Most of my chrome is done by Auri, Chrome Block City http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Aurimax what he doesnt have available in his store I sometimes send to him to get done.Other parts have been from Chromebricks and Bricks4all. As far as I know it was only the wheels and pin joiners that were changed, they were the changes I found, and reported by others, they are shown in the BL inventory. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=8285-1 I still have most of the original silver parts and still a couple of sticker sets, they are getting rare now.

4512 is one of the sets I used to own, great set, it was the inspiration for me to build a grey and green version of 3677 loco. 4565 is my faovorite 9v set, I would like to have a PF version but havent yet worked out how to fit the battery box in.

rebrickable puts me at about 230,000 but that is not including all loose parts. Still never have what I need for the next build.

The color red
Bricktrain replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There is no shortage of #3 red connectors, different story with #4 in yellow though. Still too much red. -
To me from the box picture it is more like a Riley Elf. Shame they couldnt make 1x6 or 1x8 bricks again for this model. Still a cute little model though.

I cant think offhand of any other part with three axle holes in line, all the others have a pinhole or two.
-
Personally I would try to offset the two pumps on different crank throws to reduce the pulsing pressure waves, although an air tank will help reduce that. If the servos were proportional they would be a lot better for controlling air valves, When my new spring loaded connectors arrive I will be experimenting with some valves myself.

I just ordered all the arctic sets from S@H the icebreaker as well, was tempted by the freight train too but not today.
-
All on S@H for NZ now, the freight set is cheaper than the last one, $379NZ

New Technic Part?
Bricktrain replied to Zimix's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
needed one yesterday. I almost made one but managed to find an alternative. Could be usefull for lattice booms for cranes too. -
The steering in most large mobiles is computer controlled, in road mode they will all pivot around a central point so if you drew a line perpendicular to each wheel all the lines would cross at the same point. In other modes they can all be steered independantly to manouvre around obstacles. I dont worry about the geometry too much in my cranes when I am adding other steering modes, I have crab steer and road mode in mine.
-
No idea where in the world you are but here the last freight train is being sold for $399

No doubt one of the moderators will combine this with the other thread, but it is entirely your choice, which is going to give you the most enjoyment, do you intend just to play with them or are they for parts for other builds, which has the most parts that you think you may use?
