Why do you say that, I have bought dozens of pneumatic parts from Bricklink and never had any problems, I do buy new though. My crane project currently has 48 cylinders and 32 cylinder brackets and will use 12 small pumps and 6 air tanks, all came from bricklink, (unless I had some left from 8049s that I parted myself, but I most likely have used them already on other mmodels). My unimog was built from parts, not a set.

Looks excellent. Surely no Mr Ryan here would criticise anything? -

like this suspension but when built does still stress the parts, but what you are trying to achieve is a load sharing between the axles much like the Renault Kerax rear axle, though that uses rubber mounts to the chassis, and wasnt great for travel anyway. -

Live axle is not a suspension type but is really from the action of a beam axle, when one wheel hits an object then the movement is also transmited to the opposite wheel, creating movement at that wheel even though nothing has contacted that wheel, like it is live itself. The suspension that smyrf has designed will use the 3 long axles that locate the differential axles as torsion bars, but not really a good thing especially with such short axles. To make a more flexible mounting it needs to be able to rotate each mounting on the diff. Maybe an axle and pin conector perpendicular fixed with an axle pin thru the hole in the 5x7 liftarm so the 3l axles can rotate in them instead of being fixed with the #1 connectors to the axle shafts? You would need to remove the stop bushes from between the 2 3l axle and pin connectors to make the height the same as present. -

Incorrect, a solid or live axle (beam axle, same thing, different names) can be suspended or fixed to the chassis. Pendular is a suspension type used on solid (live, beam) axles. Indenpendant is where each wheel on the same axle line is suspended independantly of the opposing wheel. The axle is seperate on each side of the vehicle. -

welcome. I would guess that with version one you are making solid axles pivoting around the driveshafts, whereas version two would use independant suspension at each wheel. By using solid axles you will be able to get more wheel travel than with independant suspension due to the limits of lego suspension parts. There are quite a few model designs on the forum at present so have a browse of those designs and maybe look at more on brickshelf.com for more ideas. -
What to buy?
Bricktrain replied to Chugglet's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
9395 would be my pick, I have just bought the quad, but dont normally get the small sets except just for a specific part I may need. -
When I have finished the first version I will probably take it apart for building the new version. I like the orange but white also looks good, be interesting to see if it looks as good in white when built, I dont have many white panels so will stick to the orange. I still think the steering will be hard and may do some experimenting to get a better kingpin angle to reduce the scrub radius. That is the reason I didnt use the portal hubs in the ATcrane I am building. Another mod I would like would be two steering motors with their own remote channels so you can steer the front and rear seperately, then you could crab steer also.

It looks good, I would be interested in building it, we have a lug 4x2 offroad challenge coming up it might be worth building it for. I think the suspension under load would settle enough to lower the camber angle anyway, it would still have plenty of droop travel, still it wouldnt be hard to fine tune the suspension, I have a selection of springs/shocks to test it with.

Mindstorms RCX 2.0 with PF?
Bricktrain replied to Nazgarot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
is using the RCX remote a possibility, that can control all 3 outputs http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=x124&in=S -
very helpfull...not. I cant see if you have more links behind the wheels only the top links, maybe a pic without the wheels would be usefull. Is there any free play in the length of the steering shaft, that could be binding. Moving the shocks more vertical will effectively make them stiffer so probably wont be a good thing.

Studless vs. Studful

Using the 5x7 and 5x11 frames you can build a stiff chassis easily. -
Do they understand you?
Bricktrain replied to Foggy's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Two weekends ago our new Lug had its first public display. My technic collection covered about 20% of the display tables. On the first day there was quite a bit of interest but on the second day I spent more time displaying the working features of the models and there was much more interest. People were amazed when they saw working engines and gearboxes in Lego models. A common comment was do you import these because we hardly ever see Technic in the shops. Some of course had never seen Technic before. I felt the public probably responded better to the Technic than many of the other exhibitors. I dont recall anyone who has seen my collection ever saying anything bad about it. http://lug4x2.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Screen-Shot-2012-07-15-at-6.53.43-AM.png -
Well done. I would not be too concerned with the c pillars or b pillars as with landrovers there are many options of bodystyle and wndows, some even have full panels, my hardtop only has small side windows so your pillars would be correct for representing that. The thing I consider the definitive representation of a series/ defender though is the waistline of the body, maybe you could include that?

Hi Matt, I am mostly technic oriented, though I have been building trains again lately, and I do agree on the prices here now, one of the reasons I have closed my bricklink store is because it is getting too expensive to purchase stock here and have been buying more than selling. There are at least a few other Technic fans that I have sold to in NZ. I am in Chch, Rangiora.

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Bricktrain replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
No Idea of how many were sold here but I parted two sets into my BL store which is now added to my personal collection. I have used the boom lattice parts for the base of a modified 7905 tower crane. I now work for NZs largest crane company so wanted it to be more realistic.
