I am a fan of trucks that are bright and shiny as anyone who has seen my 8285 collection will know, and the reaction of most people who see these actual models is firstly "is that really lego", of course I have to tell them most of the chrome is aftermarket just like on real trucks, but all the parts were original Lego pieces. It is a shame that Lego cant do more but if it is at the expense of developing the many new parts we have seen lately then it is best left for the other parties. There will always be the problem of distinguishing the Lego chrome parts for collectors of only genuine ones but unfortunately that is something that happens in most things not just Lego, and especially on BL that is policy that non genuine parts can not be listed if genuine chrome are made. Nice trucks Oran, I might have to build some for my train layout/town.

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Bricktrain replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
April in the catalog, but they are often late. -
I am also in the process of collecting bley parts to build these locos since I have decided not to open my MISB copy. My intention was to add a second motor in the front making room to route the pf leads thru the front of the engine under the cab and thus being able to operate the two motors directly together.
-
the black ones, they are also used with the motor so you will be needing to get some replacements
-
yes the pf will replace most of the wheel assembly as posted in the instructions at the end of book two, you still need a few parts of the buffer assembly though. Maybe you can borrow a couple from somewhere else. Are they just to hold the 4x6 plate on top, you should be able to use almost anything to replace those, even the spare 1x1 transparent round plates should be enough just to hold it in place.

Now everyone is mad because of the massive train crash you just caused. But Brickshelf has also crashed so I cant post a pic anyway
-
I would think you could use ten for each part circle then two reversed on each side in between giving a sort of squashed oval
-
I do find it a very basic set, but for someone building a layout from scratch it is usefull and especially the 4 straight track sections. That is the main reason I bought two, and I will find a place for the vehicles also. I do agree though that if you had an existing layout this set isnt one you would probably want.

Good to hear, I wonder why they took it off the website though. Still I think I will stick to BL as it seems to work out the same or cheaper anyway. -
RCX firmware problem
Bricktrain replied to rjk1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think that Vista is the problem, I (and others) seem to have a lot of problems with programs on vista, like LDD also. (both dual core, desktop pentium D 3.0g with XP, laptop centrino 2.2g with vista) -
Buying second hand may be an option, but personally I only buy new, as I hate pieces that smell of smoke or damaged pieces, you never know what you may get unless you can see it before you buy. I usually keep an eye on store sales for sets with larger part counts even if I dont particularly like the set, or already have one, one of the best in the last few years was the Telescopic handler, also the tractor with log loader is well priced with pneumatic parts.

RCX firmware problem
Bricktrain replied to rjk1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I couldnt get the RCX to work on my laptop on Vista so use it on my desktop on XP. I have a couple of patches, one for XP and the other for the tower. -
After the great disappointment of 9v trains being discontinued I sold my complete train collection, all my SF's and BNSF's amongst others and actually everything Lego, but soon again got hooked again on Technic when I discovered 8285 towtruck. Although I have had an EN on my shelf for a year or so I have only just started again collecting trains again, waiting for the local boxing day sales to pick up the two current PF sets, (3677 not yet available in NZ), and ordering a couple of Maersks and a 10020 SF from Bricklink along with a few extra wagons and tracks, and parts to build another 10 or so wagons, so my collection is going to grow again.

8466 parts!
Bricktrain replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
hub they are expensive as they were only released in 8466 in that colour and are thus relatively rare -
Small suspension

It looks to me like it could be a Lego tyre turned inside out -

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Bricktrain replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I have found a few 20% sale items at Toyworld and Warehouse which is the only time I have bought any large sets, farmers at Rangiora dont have a lot and last time I went to Kmart Riccarton they had a very small selection. I havent been able to find on Lego S@H where it says GST is included in the price which it used to say, now I can only find where it says customs duties are the buyers responsibility. It makes me a bit dubious about making a large order. -
New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Bricktrain replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Hi Allan, not sure if the sale is continued, but sometimes if you ask in the store they may give you a discount anyway. I felt a bit that way about the trains, I was reluctant to spend the full retail but at sale price it was more acceptable, but that is the way it is with nearly all Lego in NZ now, one of the reasons I probably wont be restocking my BL store again. Now I have started getting trains again I do have a little withdrawal from some of the pieces I sold you, but at least I can have the fun of building them again. I have bought the Maersks now from BL, it ended up cheper than S@H -

After a few years without trains I finally gave in with Toyworlds 20% sale today and bought both the current train sets. Waiting to see if Lego S@H has a sale before I order the Maersk and new Cargo train sets.
