  1. Thanks everyone. Anyone want to help with the sorting, maybe it wasnt as small as I thought, my next landscape is meant to be much bigger.
  2. Someone has decided to move this from Technic, so I guess I should link to the folder with some of the non-technic displays as well. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=545760 Hi Jason, welcome to EB. Unfortunately some of us arent FB members so cant see your video, I have seen it in action though.
  3. Hopefully Cristoph or one of the others can add some more, I only have one pic of it when it wasn't working http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130081.jpg

  5. Sorry I dont, but I will ask Jason, it was his model.
  6. I put together a small display for our LUGs annual show last weekend, just a bit of a background to display the series of sets from 2012. I didnt get any other pics and had to dismantle it completely to get it home. It was quite popular with the kids.
  7. Last weekend LUG 4/2 held the annual brick show at the airforce museum in Christchurch. In previous shows there had been a lot of duplication of models displayed so for this years show 6 of us pooled our sets for a big combined display. We had 117 different models on the display, winning the largest collection award. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130060.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130061.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130062.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130063.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130064.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130069.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130070.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130071.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130072.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130073.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130074.jpg I also displayed my collection of trucks derived from the 8285 set and the 42030 loader copy with a modified 8275 dozer. My Rough Terrain Crane also. Henrik was a big truck fan and really enjoyed the trucks, I think that helped with the second place award. He was surprised how big Technic is in NZ. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130065.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130066.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130067.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130068.jpg
  8. The old gear rack was used for grilles many times, 42000, 8386 for examples I was actually hoping it was the old type rather than the new one, the black racks are getting expensive.
  9. From my experience with it, on small gears it is okay but on larger gears like the 24t it doesnt make enough contact and it clicks as the ends of the screw contact the teeth on the gear and can lock up. It is a shame hopefully they can improve it and rerelease it, it is useful.
  10. I am not sure what you mean, These are sets I got from S@H, except the small plane polybag set which I got from BL. Personally I think it is a great theme that could have just as easily been a standalone series. It wsnt much of a display, just a few spare parts to highlight the sets, but thanks.
  11. you can use the catalog on BL to view the parts families to identify the part http://www.bricklink.com/catalogTree.asp?itemType=P
  12. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=48496 I think
  13. the #2 connector is the one I have used on the front leg. You could use 2 long axles and half stop bushes for the pins thru the toggle joints rather than the frictionless pins I have shown. You could change all the bricks with pins to the type with axle holes and just use as many friction pins as neede to get enough strength to stay in position and use frictionless pins in the others. or else just use one link to the front Spaceship%20stands3.lxf
  14. I love the colours also, another of my favorites was Mars mission, with the same colours. Not a lot about these sets in particular, he did explain to the AFOL group how the sets progress from ideas to the finished set, which was very interesting. Also new part design and the process of getting them into production was interesting. We talked a lot about real and model trucks and a bit about skiing. I did ask if he looked at brickshelf or other sites, which he said he doesnt but some of the designers do but it can cause problems as people can accuse them of stealing ideas. Personally I wish they would steal some of mine. I did ask why we havent had train doors in LBG yet, they do check BL prices on rare items and see which they can use. Thanks. The plane is the set, the base is the only part of mine.
  15. Last weekend we had a brickshow in Christchurch, one of my displays was the Arctic sets for 2014. The highlight for me of the show was being able to meet the designer of these sets, Henrik. I also displayed the Dino sets, the display is to the right, and the Lone Ranger sets as well as Technic.
  16. I have mixed my new and used dishes together but even the used ones are as new if you are interested. I am happy tonight, my lowbed semi with the 42030 loaded won second place for best display at the Christchurch Brick show tonight. It was a real pleasure to meet the judges, one was Henrik Anderson, Lego Senior Designer. Prize I won was a new 42025. I have to take pictures in the morning, today was a bit too busy.
  17. Well done Matt. It was a shame about the roof not being high enough, maybe a slight downsize for next year so you can fit it all in. Adding a lift would be great too, though would be hard to get it to scale.
  18. To fit power puller tyres the front guards will have to be modded, they do fit but make contact with the bottom edge of the guard. The gap in the front near the pivot isnt as bad in the flesh as it looks in the pics, I just added a 1x9 yellow liftarm down each side of the front section and it does improve it. What I liked less was the 5x7 LBG frame showing, so have covered that with a yellow tile.
  19. It will take a bit to do, lengthening the bed is going to be some work, download the instructions and have a look. Great review Jim, but it still doesnt capture the greatness until you actually build it, cant wait to get the bucket for it.
  20. Just downloaded the instructions, will build it in the morning. Then will look at modding it, see how I go for time, the LUG has a show this weekend
  21. When I did mine where I added the level crossing I made an automatic rerailer, I have tried most wagons on it and it has put them all back on the rails
  22. Some nice ideas there. I like 5 alot, but 7 gives even more building space.
