First I saw the intro picture on YT and my instant thought was "Is this really Lego??" Second look at the channel - "Aha - everything clear" . Amazing functionality, self-evident of course.

I´m always very pleased to digest those sweet renders from you . There is much to learn from the accurately thought out concept, at least in theory. Having big doubts about the gearbox working well under stress & in rough terrain though. I guess the differentials will slip anyway, even more if not being secured from both sides. Good luck however with this journey .

Thanks, I´m always happy to know that some people valuate my work (e.g. most of my relatives don´t, they´re just "normal" people ). I don´t fall for the flattery for multiple reasons, let me explain a bit. First of all: these models can´t be as beautifull as the original counterparts are – they´re only more or less successfull replicas of some really beautiful cars! It´s like „the moon is shining so bright“ - it doesn´t at all, but only reflects small portions of the sunlight. So most of the glory already should go to the designers who managed to implement there visions and create the greatest looking, most spectacular vehicles in history regarding looks and performance (nobody must agree of course). I personally agree that the real McLaren P1 kind of „pales“ in comparison to the LaFerrari, at least regarding aesthetics. But it´s not valid about my Technic models. There are years of development between them regarding correct propoportions, gaining building skills, used techniques and improvement of the rational/technical approach. Big differences also regarding the priorities in design which I tried to describe in honest manner. The experience from the Ferrari was usefull to learn many things for future projects. The P1 was a further development of some ideas, but nowhere perfect in any terms. Of course it´s my intention to catch the eyes of people and trigger some recognition effect, but there is more about the whole thing. Sounds philosophical, but it´s true: under the shiny surface is the science and joy of discovery which you can figure out only by doing something yourself. As well a lot of sweat and tears, up and downs. Trying to find solutions for technical problems on your own, create functional working mechanisms, extend personal limits and the satisfaction of playing.

+1 Suggestion: it would be nice to have a side by side comparison with the original model to be able to figure some of the major changes. Probably the easiest way would be to show the excerpt of that particular stage from the official instructions (pdf available). That way you would need to formulate a bit less of explanatoty text which may overstrain some younger people nowadays .

42096 Porsche 911 RSR
brunojj1 replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The 42056 Porsche GT3 RS was much more accurate (scale 1/8). Check out the review on brickset: https://brickset.com/article/21572/review-42056-porsche-911-gt3-rs -
42096 Porsche 911 RSR
brunojj1 replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The model´s lenght is totally out of scale. Especially the front is too long (4 studs) and too high and bulky. The other dimensions suit the real counterpart pretty well though. dimensions scale in cm theor. In Lego model Lego model deviations in cm 1:10 studs in cm in studs in studs Length 455,7 45,6 57 50,0 63 6 Width 204,8 20,5 26 20,0 25 -1 Height 126,4 12,6 16 13,0 15 -1 Wheelbase 251,6 25,2 31 24,8 31 0 -
The availability of the exhaust part #6797 is literally exhausted. Fun fact: the green variant was used as trash bin in the Lego Scala series in 1997. I was totally unaware about the existence of such a product line from TLG some 20 years ago . 3D printed substitute in neutral black is in progress and probably will be released together with the RC instructions by end of the year. Apologies in advance if it will not happen in time or not at all in worst case – I can´t do it myself and have to rely on others, same with the instructions. But we are not in a hurry with anything, it´s still a hobby for all participants. In the meanwhile one can consider the following brick built options, the best possible alternatives I managed to come up with. Check out the LDD file as well.

42093 Corvette ZR-1
brunojj1 replied to letsbuild's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Let´s break a lance for this nice little supercar set. I like: - the new versatile unspoiled wheel arches - the innovative piston engine - HOG steering - the clever designed inclined rear body part - the appearance of the #3 connectors Well done, TLG - my kids will love it and me too ! -
Technic 2019 Set Discussion
brunojj1 replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I totally agree, thank you for pointing it out clearly! Considering the set labeled as 10+, claiming to provide such great building experience for kids, diving into all that interesting automotive "technology" and such.. It´s ridiculous! Where is the learning factor if there is no gearbox or any other mechanisms other than a flat 6-cylinder which we are tired of for a long time? Where is the playability without HOG steering? Where is the versatility of the printed wheel arches if you can´t do anything else with them? This set rather will be bought by the UCS models collectors types - means AFOLs! So why not put in at least a battery box + 2 pairs of LEDs for display?? Even Playmobil understands that you have to go with time and delivers such little nice features in almost any sets in the meantime (for kids!), such as: motors, underwater motors, RC packs, LED kits, Light & Sound (!!) and other supplements / modules. Something positive to add, to be fair: this examples show how easy and straightforward bodyworking can be, maybe that will inspire some kids to build their own supercar, no matter what. And wonderfull usefull white parts package btw. I have a dream .... -
@bodmin: However I´m feeling sorry for all those who can´t buy the pieces which simply are no longer on the market. I just want to see everybody be happy and enjoy the model as I do myself. And you don´t need to call me great or feel humbled, I´m a normal average person however . I will keep you updated about the progress of the exhaust substitute. If printed in 3D, the part can be done in black which would match some original cars versions pretty good. Your statement about the rare parts being not listed on rebrickable must be corrected a bit: these parts aren´t available on the free bricklink market anymore (any lots for sale), but they are still listed in the models rebrickable partslist. Orange connectors will be available in 2019. Ribbed hoses - issue not as important. If you can wait till Christmas - I´m planning to release the RC version in WHITE color, using some of the new Porsche parts there + new exhaust whatever it will be.

Where to get blueprints?
brunojj1 replied to Lego2016Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So I realise I misinterpreted your question as well, so we´re all good. Yeah, I guess he asked which sources you have to look for. Cheapest but not the best way we forgot to mention: Google can help you out sometimes too . -
All I can say is: sorry for the inconvenience! I´m working on alternative(s) - both brick built / out of Technic parts, which can´t be perfect of course, but I will present it here very soon. I really hope that the #42093 Corvette will stay orange and not be changed into yellow (which would be great too from another perspective) I´ve been thinking about that too - we have some experienced guys around. The problem could be that not many buyers would opt for a 3D printed alternative for various reasons, such price incl. shippping, rough surface, colouring required and so on. Anyway, I will discuss it with @SevenStuds tomorrow. And thanks for coming around! Thanks for your moral support, always apreciated, my friend! The use of that specific part was mandatory for me. It wasn´t my idea - this part was used in an earlier P1 model created by TheMatiss56: https://vid-moon.com/video/QBH0jCfwgDBd0dbZgE I didn´t expect the vast demand for my MOC, but I really can see the need and will work on this issue.

Where to get blueprints?
brunojj1 replied to Lego2016Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Today I got perfect high quality 2D blueprints for my next MOC from https://squir.com/ , one day after having contacted this guy. They cost me some 20,00 EUR, not bad compared to the other mentionned websites. Of course I don´t know if he has available the specific vehicle you are looking for, maybe worth to check this option. IMHO your definition of what a so called MOC might be is just fine and perfectly accurate. But we could define it even closer - you should create your own bricks either to come up with that term "legally". I think no matter what you´re building - the particular desing itself is important, which requires creativity and solutions / compositions which make your creation unique. -
Technic 2019 Set Discussion
brunojj1 replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Considering the "2 in 1" label we probably have to expect more from the set which could justify the price, other than the "license". Would be cool to have something similar like this: -
Technic 2019 Set Discussion
brunojj1 replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Despite the design being not finished yet (different variations on the sides of the bonnets), I see various details which tune me positively: the fact that the 1:12 scale niche finally is being filled; #3 connectors in orange (hopefully not a new orange!), the mentionned wheel arches which probably will suit 1/10 scale as well. 42096: I can spot some kind of "antenna" on top of the shadow . No speculation of course, just a "fact" ... Edit: it´s much smaller than that, being only13 studs wide. -
Thanks, I understand. It was simply my personal feel of disappointment while assembling the Bugatti, even worse than with the Porsche. But I have made my peace with it now. I don´t blame the designer, because I have no idea what restrictions within which boundaries they have to follow which "free" artists even don´t think of. But I think they definitely should (re-)hire you for the next one . So this will be a nice warmup for greater things to come from you, can´t wait it . Yeah, all that is a science in itself and has to be dealt very pragmatically. I´ve been following your Greyhound project and apreciated all the development a lot. I think making such a robust, well performing outdoor offroad vehicle like yours requires all these specific adaptations. Solutions for a supercar driving only on flat surface, probably don´t need to be as sophisticated IMO. Of course the slack, given naturally by the wheel hubs, results in some unwanted effects, but you can´t do anything about it. A model of the size of the Chiron or my P1 is happy if being able to drive at all . E.g. I´m driving my car (2XL + 2L) on the table (!) from time to time, just to be satisfied about the good acceleration and hearing no "clicking" gears which is an achievement for me, even if nobody would care. So the "maximum performance" philosophy is moving into abstract with the pure weight of the model. However, it shouldn´t discourage us to do more research.
-
As technic_addict pointed out already, there is no need to use 8 x XL motors, especially if you are afraid to damage gears. You should engage the differentials at the axles from BOTH sides - that will reduce a lot of slack and allow much more torque to be transferred to the drivetrain. Then try out the max possible ratio. Please post some video once having figured out the optimum, I´d be very curious about the performance, for me this is still unexplored territory (BuWizz, AWD and such). The idea with the radio is good however (joking)

Technic 2019 Set Discussion
brunojj1 replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Really?? IMO you should be banned just for making that outrageous accusation. I´m sick of that kind of blatantly bashing people for just being sincere and straightforward. He is the moderator and simply doing his not easy job. If rules don´t mean anything to you, not to speak about polite mature behavior, has nothing to do with your origin. -
Great to know about that and curious about the outcome. There is a lot of room to reduce material. May I ask you 2 things: - It could be possible that the marketing strategy was to satisfy as many customers as possible of all sort - new unbiased clients who don´t care as well as more experienced builders who cannot be satisfied with any level of design quality anyway. Do you personally think the model has been designed deliberately "imperfect" to this extent, at least the chassis, to let room for everybody to improve anything and get a deeper satisfaction on the long term (same as with the Porsche)? - What´s your motivation to do this instead of e.g. designing a proper B-model which IMO everybody would anticipate much more?
-
Being a McLaren fan myself, I must honestly say: it´s horrible! Supposing you being a builder of younger age, capable to anticipate advice, I don´t apologize but rather want to encourage you to spend another 3 months for a proper redesign and then call it McLaren XYZ. Keep going, nobody is perfect, I´m not either, we all started somewhere . Why that?? Try to get as compact as you can. As far as I´m concerned you want to have fun with your BuWizz and drive at max speed. One good example I consider worth studying: http://www.nico71.fr/small-black-motorized-sedan-car/

No way, why should they. Thorsten Spelz, the instructions creator, has filed complaints about copyright infringements commited by promoters of the fake rubbush version from darkland, you know what I´m referring to. His eagerness has reached beyond the goal and YT removed my video too ... I have high suspission anyway that the big tech giants are going way too far nowadays with their censorship. The rescission probably will take another day.. If they are too dumb to recognize their mistake, I can´t help it but to upload the video again. I´m tired of all of this s.h.i.t....

Great model and even better instructions ! Not sure about the wheelhouses too, it doesn´t hurt to try flex axles IMO.
