LEGO 42043 LED Lighting Kit
agrof replied to sives1's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, this is a great add-on feature! Waiting for more details, do You plan to make complete universal lightning sets, which fits into any truck/car model? -
We don't want to create push on TLG to change the price. 42056 seems to surpass a psychological limit, at least raised the bar in a never seen before height in Technic line. This doesn't mean, it is necessarily bad. Every time such thing happens in any segment, the market starts to analyse, wether it brings advantage, and which ones. Cumulonimbus said it right: value.

This was meant only in Lego universe, not in general, also as written: hardcore fans. How could I judge someone only by Lego theme interest? But a bit can do by the reflections (f.e.: comments). I am not nice (not equal disrespectful), and maybe not better than those, but working on it. Sorry for off Topic.

[WIP] Bowler Defender
agrof replied to Epic Technic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Agree, You must revise the bonnet and the body. Don't take these comments as offence, as I see, many of us would like to see a successfull and good looking Bowler.- 53 replies

In my opinion we have to separate things. First: general (new) customers Cars, supercars have wider audience in general. I am prety sure, when LEGO says "ultimate supercar", this is a call for non-LEGO, and for non-Technic people. Every detail is adjusted to this: the brand, the size, part count, packaging, etc... many people still believe, that LEGO=4x2 brick. Than bang, they get this in face, and say: wow, how cool is that, might be LEGO is not a children toy any more! Look at the Internet, how viral is this thing. Had 9398, 42009 or 42043 such attention? It is enough, if only 1-5% of readers become potential buyer, each one extends the market, pure win for TLG. There are hardcore classic LEGO fans, they will always neglect Technic... (their super power called: narrow minded mentality), BUT there are many of them, who does listening, and fall in love with 42056. Because it looks good, and oh yes, it does. Price is no issue. Second: Technic AFOLs We have different perspectives in terms of functions and authenticy, so we might miss more here. We have experience with more dense and more complex MOCs, so our bar is set higher. And we are marginal. We can discuss internally about what means "ultimate" for us, and if the pricing is OK accordingly. It is all about personal preference, there is no bad or good statement. While I am happy for this set (except the idiotic suitcase thing... Genders are bad, mmmkay? ), for me it is way too expensive, and 42043 stands for ultimate - to date. Some will instantly buy it, and this is life. None of us is a better or worse person because of this. A poll would be interesting though. To the ppp issue: TLG set part count as a measurement by showing on the packagings, so why not compare?

Cool, simple solution for positive caster angle, while keeping the main structure perpendicular. As far I know, it is not the first time, that somebody creates such solution, but it doesn't degradate Your version! -
I see, why it costs that much as an ultimate package, with greater building experience. In my understanding in the building instructions follows paralell the actual Porsche production assembly line, which is a nice add-on, + premium sequenced packaging, art scaling (within LEGO bourders) makes it a very good eye-catcher collector piece. I do believe, that this kind of extra service will touch many no LEGO involved market segments too (RC, die-cast or even real car collectors). In this point of view, I underline this set's viability, the price will be no issue. As an afol... well, I am on the other side. Personally I appretiate more the smaller, technically more dense, more complex builds. Speaking about cars, just examples: rm8' FJ40; Sheepo's modular Land Rover, Pdvb's Koenigsegg; and many many more. Bigger is not necessarily better for my eyes. So, for me it is way too much money for a single set regardless the PPP, could be I am just not petrol head enough. BUT, I will absolutely enjoy watching, reading all the coming reviews, with a cup of coffee. Like it? Buy it. Don't like it? Pass it.

Fantastic MOD (or better called MOC) again, now there is no way back... I could resist to build rm8's original till now, but with this upgrade / rebuild, it is a must have on my shelf. Thank You in advance for the instructions!

Yes it has, but bit weird placed, the steering axle is below of the drive axle. Sorry, no real model, I just played around in LDD. -

Another inspiring build! I am also into the half beam build theme, opens complete new doors in Mocing. :) -
Agree, love these! The hood is too long, but It has no influence on overall performance. Thanks for sharing the LDD file.

Hello Matthias, while I think your website is a great collection site and could be a good source for everyone, I totally agree with M_longer. You made good and detailed descriptions for the models (yes, I speak german), and put great effort uniformising the pictures etc. It is a proud feeling to see our builds being shared, but own video player instead of embedding, reformat the instructions instead of link to original sources, no credit for authors, own website name on pictures (ok, You cropped, and changed the background...). Well, these issues are rather questionable, especially, that all of these are connected to a webshop. I am pretty sure, most of the builders - me too - would allow for You to share their MOCs on Your website with proper conditions, but as it is, seems has passed the borders of common ethics. Why? Many of us put enormous effort to digitalise and publish their MOCs, just to share the fun, without any economical advantage thought behind. The minimum is to say "Thank You" with giving credits. Please recover all items, with properly linked original sources (videos, instructions). Thank You in advance: http://www.technicdi...e=37&modell=366

And another 9 stud wide version here, driven by worm gear. After having an idea with small bevel gears, I looked for benchmarks, and found that I wasn't alone. EFFEUNO471 made a similar concept a while ago - see here. I created my version too, to be honest, I have no clue how to motorize it in a compact way, but was an interesting experiment. Mini 4x4 crawler chassis, for LDD file CLICK. -
The stickers really add the racing effect on it! Good pictures, thanks for sharing. BUT... what about the rally cross car?

[MOC] White Spyder

You evolve pretty fast, keep on it! Some details might could have be done better - like the rearm and rear lights, but overall it has coherent appearance. Great team work brothers! -
[MOC] Lancia Stratos 1:8 Scale

Indeed great, gratulation. I prefer the blue one a bit better, pity, that a red version can't be built. -

Thanks LXF for the prompt test, I made a quick update, so the toothbar is moved forward by 1/2 stud. Still theory, but should work better, could You check it please? (I am working further on the 10 stud wide version, only because the drivetrain can be placed centered on it.) Original post is updated. EDIT: 10 stud wide version is ready, built, tested, for LDD file CLICK. The only "disadvantage", that it looks with 56x26 wheels better. In reality for the steering gear's axle You can put 1 stud bushing as spacer, instead of the 1/2 bushing. -

There might be a small issue with the steering, I am unsure if the play between the beams offer enough steering angle. In worst case, the toothbar must be moved one stud forward, this is what I did for my 10 stud wide version (this is 9 stud). The 11 stud wide first concept I have built, worked flowless with this setup, as in LDD file. Enjoy! -

Hello All, I fell in love with the 49,5x20 tyre, and wondered what could be the smallest 4x4 chassis with steering for it. Here is my solution, haven't tested yet in practice (only an one stud wider version, which works fine). Hope, it will come handy, theoretically also can be motorized, I suggest with Minizip cable and 9V battery. Mini 4x4 chassis, for LDD file CLICK. or for concept with motors (not connected) CLICK. EDIT: pictures and files replaced to updated version -
One of my beloved sets... it is great as official set, and You made very good job to bring it one (or more) level higher.

After I realised how time consuming to ceate photo sequence instructions (I am sure it is the same for CAD pdfs) can be, no to mention the investigation of proper equipment which needed, I decided to develop/document paralell in LDD, and sit on the floor with my part bins. I find this combination rather usefull, development works back and forth. To try an idea, sometimes it is better to use the real bricks, but in many cases I can "dig" more painless and effective into a complex structure in LDD. Also much easier (and cheaper as I had to learn...) to figure out the final colors for bodywork, and general appearance in LDD.
