  1. Great job here. I loved that movie growing up. Keep up the good work.
  2. Thanks for getting the picture. It wouldn't let me for some reason (probably because I only use a kindle). I think the pack will be good to get a kid for a birthday or to get them interested in LEGO pirates, but not the best if you want to supplement your pirate ranks since you have these more than likely.
  3. Kansas City Brick Lab. The store manager posts stuff there
  4. I saw my local LBR has a new pirates minifigure pack in stock. It has 4 total pirates -- one female (similar to the fairytale set with the green corset top and looks like Ann Lee's head from Monster Fighters), two generic pirates with dark red bandanas with the IFS cook torso (I think), and Captain Redbeard. It also has a map, a treasure chest, a barrel, and a crab. It details for $14.99 and had 39 total pieces. I just thought I would bring it up. It wouldn't let me take the picture from the Facebook LUG page, so I can't share it here right now. Edit: Image added. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  5. The dark water adds to the scene. Especially with the rainfall, it adds to the eeriness. The back scales look great and very fitting. You didn't even have to build most of the animal and it is still impressive! I hadn't considered using those trans black pieces (although I think LEGO calls them trans brown oddly enough) as water. I am building a Harry Potter MOC and the "black lake" was going to be blue, but I may have to switch this out since it is darker than blue. Thanks for the inspiration.
  6. Thanks for the review. This confirms that I don't want the set, but only want Jango. If I can find him cheap enough, I'll pick just him up. Otherwise I may end up getting the set for him and parting out the pieces.
  7. So the LEGO SW polybag is only for North America (basically), yet they are allowing it two months? That doesn't make sense.
  8. To quote one of my favorite movies, "I've never seen its equal." Brilliantly designed and executed. The painting itself looks incredible, but then you add in the brushes and the brick built signature! Words do not describe it. The problem with seeing something like this, I'd want to go home and build it myself for display, but I know I wouldn't be able to. Not to mention I don't own most of those pieces. Good luck.
  9. That looks great. The only thing I would change is the clips/back of the flag to white instead of light bley. That way being lighter it might shine through the front red grills better and hopefully give a better red/white stripe effect. But it might not look any different. Either way. Great job!
  10. I can only hope they release all of those figures in the future. If they did, I would be a super heroes theme only collector. But especially I like silver surfer and daredevil. This game looks tremendously better than Batman 2. And Batman is my favorite. I guess it isn't his fault they don't know how to handle DC properties.
  11. I've never really cared for Ninjago, but they have had some cool sets. It seems this next wave might be enough to reel me in.
  12. I like that monkey set also, for the parts. The final model looks good, but I'm sure I could use those pieces somewhere else. It will be interesting see the information when it is revealed.
  13. These figures look great. They all turned out really well. I'm most curious about the torso in the first photo of the Tonto head and pie guy. The ladies turned out really well. I hadn't thought of using different torsos with those dress slopes before. But it seems to work pretty well here.
  14. Good job. I really like the rockwork and the greenery. The seed part usage works really well here. Good luck in the competition.
  15. Worst. Idea. Ever. I must hurry to my internet forums and blast the very notion of a comic book store. The above is a lot funnier of read in the comic book guy's voice. With that said, I think we could get one sometime, but it doesn't come off as first wave material. But you would almost need another Bart and Milhouse and maybe a sticker sheet for Radioactive Man comics. Although it'd be sweet if they just put him in the set too.
  16. Congratulations! You'll have your work cut out for you here!
  17. Congrats. You'll have your work cut out for you with these ragamuffins. And although the Fast and Furious franchise isn't the best thing to ever grace the big screen, some of the cars might be cool in LEGO form. Granted since the actual cars have decals, I'm sure it'd be DSS heaven for that theme. If they released sets when I was in high school, I would have loved it. Now that I've matured, I want to run from them.
  18. Very neat build. I like the idea of a wizard living inside the tree and I think you got the shape right. My only want would be a slightly taller tree to give it a little more presence. But otherwise, it looks great. Reminds me a bit of Majisto.
  19. Nothing of importance, but I was going to add with the other 80s "themes," thanks to CUUSOO they will be releasing at least one other 80s franchise and possibly 2 (with Ghostbusters as a possibility). Meaning, there is definitely room for other 80s themed sets out there. As far as Simpson's go, I agree about timing. If you look at the early molds with the SW license compared to molds/printing now, I don't think they would have been able to do the theme back then. If they did, it wouldn't be very impressive. However, now is the best time to do it due to the technology. I am also awaiting pictures, but I don't see any reason why they won't knock this out of the park.
  20. Herky - you have to keep in mind Tower Bridge came out 3 years ago and at that time had a lot of new pieces or pieces in New color. Plus it has some base plates in it as well. I will definitely pick this up, but I'll wait until next year probably since it will have some shelf life on it. Plus at that price I will need to save up. But I agree, best to wait until double points in October or next March.
  21. I believe US boxes are the only boxes with piece count and set name? I might be wrong, but all of my boxes have piece count and I've heard other countries (Europe mainly) always has a clean box. I don't mind a WIP review although it would be better if it was all done at once. Now I'll have to check back repeatedly (which I'm sure I'll forget to do). I think the bigger downside of the WIP review is the time between sections. We have to wait almost a week before you can even build the next installment, let alone give your insights and review. That's a real shame. Someone else might get their review up in that time, then you won't be the first concluded, just the first posted.
  22. My concern is will the elves have hair pieces or helmets or hoods.. The dark green good was nice, but I'd have preferred elf ears. Some cool helmets would be nice. Something new or the elf ears. That will make our break the set for me. I bought a few of the mirkwood elf poly, but I would have bought more had they had ears.
  23. I'd love more variety in figures. I love Batman but u don't need 10 copies of him. But I do need his villains, so that adds to it. However I think LEGO is selling what is hot right now. DC doesn't have a lot of current heroes to market. Batman/Superman are what is on people's minds right now, so that is who they will make sets for.
  24. I built that not too long ago but I don't even remember that part. I guess I didn't question it. I should take it apart and put it in my spares in case I need it down the road. Thanks for sharing.
  25. My favorite part is the angled entryway. That is really clever. I'd like to see that incorporated more often into builds. The run down nature is definitely something not seen too often in the LEGO cities. To be honest, I haven't seen too many real life buildings like that, but I don't go into neighborhoods like that, so I'm sure they are out there. Keep up the good work!
