  1. This set and the abundance of hobbits everywhere would make it easy to build a halfling army. While surely not the most majestic and sublime army, it would be interesting to see a few regiments. There were halfling regiments in Warhammer, maybe someone will do it in LEGO, too, with Stings and sticks and hayforks etc. I can see them beating down the occasional orc.
  2. If this happens, armies will have to me made!
  3. I don't get the spooky set. There are ghosts and zombies everywhere, why do thex release even more?
  4. Thank you very much! These I can print out and make a template and thereby save precious LEGO cloth!
  5. 3 horses? ! I wonder if any castle set ever had 3. Even the kingdoms joust had just 2.
  6. Hi customizers, I would like to make some pauldrons from cloth. Has anyone ever made a template for these? If so, would you post it here or send it to me? I don't own any pauldrons and have no BL orders planned for the next weeks.
  7. Galadriel looks good. Not extremely spectacular, but good. Flesh in the dekolleté though. If TLG had the courage they could make 2 Galadriels, 1 in greedy spooky "give me the ring" mode as in the movie. I think it is perfectly possible to make female elves with the hairpiece used for Haldir and Legolas, but a new one will increase variety. Really great would be a white hood with blond curls coming out!
  8. Very good. I especially like the king. I know this torso but I never had the idea of using this for a minotaur.
  9. This might be interesting for some. I found a guy on Ebay.de who sells LOTR stuff relatively cheap. He sells 1 Rohan shield and 1 spear elaborate together for 1,19. I bought 10 of these packs. He also sells 1 gladius, 1 longsword and 1 sting together for 1 Euro, but I had to restrain myself.
  10. Wonderfully weird! This made me laugh.
  11. Well, there is army building potential in that. To some extend if depends on how big you define the group. 20 crash test dummies together in one group, for what? 25 identical divers, for what? (except adding weapons, becoming an army to fight a sea monster or an army of sea monsters) I am not so sure about the graduate. All that comes to my mind is that hollywood-driven image of graduates throwing their hats in the air while some rockmusic sets in and the chearleader may finally kiss her hero. It you count collecting say 5 or 10 of the same figs army building, there are uses for many figs. But is that still an "army"?
  12. This might be a good way to turn the new Elrond figure into a yellowhead. It should theoretically also work on elven ears, e.g. the ones on the Legolas hairpiece. Has anyone in Germany tried this yet and can recommend a brand of felt pen for this? I think I have never seen a "sharpie" here.
  13. Nice pictures in a thread that makes only little sense. There are so many polls and comparisons and statistics with more interesting perspectives. Army building only works in military contexts because that's where uniformity and not individuality is the aesthetic rule for a larger group. I can't think of many other such contexts (besides sports, and that is conflict as well). So every fighter, warrior or fig with a weapon can and will be used for army building. Surprise!
  14. This Elrond fig really raises the question of how far I am willing to go (in terms of money) for one single fig. I also like the elven blade. It looks much better than some 3rd party 'elven' products which look more like a minfig scale sextoy than a weapon. Colourwise, I agreee with Fives. Pearl gold is a treacherous colour. It looks nice on pictures but never as good in reality. Too much pearl gold ruined the CMF aztec. I am not so sure if the pearl gold elven blade will won't be too much for Haldir either.
  15. Hmm, what to do, what to do... ? I don't own a PS3 but I live in Germany and want the fig. Will it be cheaper to preorder a game now and sell it later without the fig or buy it via bricklink?
  16. Wow, Elrond looks great. Another of these spectacular figs that will cost a fortune on bricklink. 12 Euro Haldir anyone, 12 for Theoden? A question to the pros who have been in the game for decades: Are these exclusive figs usually also released in sets? Or does TLG really keep them exclusive. Will the game only be for PS3 or also for PC?
  17. Somebody give this guy an award or something!
  18. Prizes in Germany have already dropped to 32.99 at amazon.de It would be great if you could find partners to splitthese with. The one who collects a Rohan army would get the Rohans and the balista or wall and the one going for orcs the orcs and the rest.
  19. I (a German) liked the bit with Mr. Bean best. To me, it showed that Britain is able to be self-ironic because he was integrated in that orchestra, a sincere institution, and subverted its ernestness while maintaining class. I watched it with a Japanese girl and she mentioned that something like this would never have been possible when the Games were held in China. Europe showed its cultural heritage as well as their modern self-irony, which less enlightened countried often lack as well as diversity. Also I agree with German newspaper articles which stated that such an amount of globally famous personalitities (the Queen, Mc Cartney etc.) would not have worked in Leipzig and the other German city that applied for the Games.
  20. I wouldn't compare the two. BW has a very distinct style and sort of create their own universe, Brickarms focusses on realism.
  21. I like the bear trap but I sincerel hope the new LEGO bear never runs into it
  22. Thank you. So you are using trees as houses which seems to work out fine. I am looking forward to seeing the finished thing. I am still in the planning phase and somewhat stuck between aesthetics. For me, wood elves hoover between 'wood' and 'elves' (surprise). The wood part demands organic structures and reduced complexity as in forest people living in the trees or Ewok-like tree-top living. The Elf part needs tall, fragile, complex and cultivated structures as in High Elf towers and cathedrals. Bringing both together in an Elf theme seems like a difficult task.
  23. With Legolas and Haldir being available already and more Elves to come, it would be interesting to know if the CMF elves drop in value soon.
  24. Oh, then my 60 elves make me a rich man. Plus 10 dark knights and 10 valkyries. But things are just 'worth' something if someone pays for it. If I put some old set on amazon.de for 499 Euro, it is not automatically worth this amount. LEGO is sometimes offered for ridiculous prices.
