Hagrid's Hut is great. I want it. The flying car is ok, but not a major change from the last two. I'd like to pick it up, but the fact that it's only different in the B pillars and the roof tile make it seem less exciting than it could be. Still, it's nice to see it as a standalone set at a good price.

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
icm replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Technic Space sets are starting to show up on Instagram in high resolution. They have the same Space banner as the leaked City sets. I wonder if the rumored Icons and Friends spaceships will also have that banner. If so, that's smart cross-theme branding. -
By my count it's six regular retail playscale landspeeders: 75271, 75173, 75052, 8092, 4501, 7110. And four regular retail playscale gunships: 75354, 75021, 7676, 7163. But I agree that six regular retail playscale landspeeders in 25 years (1999-2023 inclusive) isn't that many. If we get another regular retail playscale landspeeder last year, that'll be a four-year gap (2020 vs 2024), which is a reasonable amount of time for a remake.

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Yeah, as much fun as it is when you're a kid to dream about having or building the biggest, best Lego spaceship ever, the really big ones aren't great toys. They're just too big to swoosh, crash, and rebuild. There's a reason the physical size of the playscale spaceships tops out at about eighteen inches. Speaking of spaceship dreams, the new dual molded Concorde windscreen is just about perfect for my childhood spaceship, but I still don't think the parts library can quiiite do the ship justice yet. Wings, fuselage, tail fin, rocket engines, and now windscreen, yes. But I still haven't figured out how to do that tapering nose cone at a satisfactory play scale. But that's neither here nor there. Sorry for getting off topic from 2024 sci fi sets! -

You're too kind. My drawing skills peaked at age 13 and it's been downhill ever since! -

These are the spaceships I drew between the ages of 10 and 13. They are the spaceships I wanted most in Lego when I was a kid! I called this spaceship design the Interplanetary Patrol Venus/Earth Workhorse Fighter-Bomber, and it was basically a three-way blend of the Space Shuttle, Concorde, and F-106 Delta Dart. You can see how the 60430 Interstellar Spaceship isn't exactly the Interplanetary Patrol starfighter Lego set I wanted as a kid, but it's getting there. Of course, you wanted different kinds of swooshy spaceships as a kid, and this doesn't satisfy your inner kid. My inner kid is pretty happy, though! (Sorry for the low quality of the drawing scans.) My brother's "Concorde-shaped starfighter" that started it all when I was 9: My spaceship when I was 10: My spaceship when I was 12: My spaceship when I was 13 (the last time I really tried to draw it): My MOC Interplanetary Patrol starfighter when I was 13: -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

To my eyes, it looks like a pretty good middle ground between real-space and sci-fi Space. When I was a kid I wrote a bunch of stories and drew a bunch of pictures in my own little fictional world, which was the world of the Interplanetary Patrol and its long war against invaders from Pluto. My Interplanetary Patrol spaceships looked like supersonic jet fighters skinned with the colors and blunted edges of the space shuttle. I wanted Interplanetary Patrol sets soooo badly! Which is why I built my own Interplanetary Patrol fighter using parts from the 7470 Space Shuttle Discovery. The 60430 Interstellar Spaceship looks like it exists in that same sort of fantastic swooshy zip-pow-bang-pew-pew setting with real-space influences as Interplanetary Patrol. So I'd say it'll appeal to plenty of kids. Just not the kids who think space sets need to have lots of colors, or the adults they grew up into. -
I just started seeing ads when logged in on Android and Chrome, this morning. Haven't seen that before. I don't like them.

Not so odd. It's happened a fair few times before that the first pictures of an upcoming set are from the Safety Korea compliance check. -

AFAIK, all new sets are reviewed by Safety Korea to make sure they meet South Korean toy safety requirements. A picture of the toy and the summary of the compliance check is posted on their website. It's not a leak, as such. It's standard toy industry reporting in compliance with the law. -
It's the same windscreen that's been used on the Lightyear ship, the Blacktron Cruiser, and the Pirate Snubfighter.
-
Google "Safety Korea". The top result should be safetykorea.kr. On that website, enter "Lego" in the search box. There will be five results, one of which will have City somewhere on its search results table entry. That's what I'm looking at.

I see it now. That is way cool. Hope I can convince the wife to let me have it. How about instead of getting takeout some Friday night, we eat in and get a couple of small Lego sets instead?

I can't see the 60430 yet on Reddit or Instagram.

They canceled my order because it's sold out.

I ordered another copy. On the checkout page it showed as backorder, shipping date 2/16/24. Now that I've placed my order, on the order page and email it shows as Waiting for new stock. I hope it actually ships and they don't cancel the order on me.

Not gonna lie, I'm not interested in the space station now that I've seen a picture of it, and that honestly makes me glad. I can't afford it anyway, so this is at least one set that won't give me FOMO.
-
I can't find it. It must have been taken down immediately.

2024 Technic Sets Discussion
icm replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Holy cow. Are we getting an Apollo LRV in Technic for $250? That would be a shut-up-and-take-my-money set for me (if drastically increased rent and utilities hadn't already taken all my money starting in June of 2023). -
That's a neat looking spaceship. Can you make pictures of it from more angles?
