The Incredibles 2 2018: Rumors and Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Falconfan1414's topic in LEGO Licensed
Over on Instagram (from a certain user), we've got ourselves a good look at non-strechy Elastagirl with her own hairpiece and both expressions. -
Lack of original themes
Digger of Bricks replied to General Magma's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That can change though can it? I believe that the theme can evolve to encompass many more genres and settings, introducing much more detailed figures and builds, without losing its reconstruction focus. Nah, it was just a reboot/rehash of the first year of Adventurers, but much more boxed in. -
Inspirational Modular and Castle MOCs
Digger of Bricks replied to LegoModularFan's topic in LEGO Town
Man, that's a different one! The skylighted roof and observatory give it an almost Steampunk feel. Olive Green cheese sloped roof? What can I say? Hmm, is someone suppose to drop either a ladder or rope from the front door down to that boat dock/pier there?- 817 replies

I shared this also on @LegoMonorailFan's Best Lego Ideas Projects topic only a little while ago too, as it's a most colorful and novel submission! You should also perhaps share it on this topic, which is somewhat similar to the one I just posted, but more specifically pertaining to train/locomotive based Ideas projects.

Well, with comic based characters, Lego seemingly would rather string us along with inserting them into random playsets, as many don't have any ties to any particular storyline that most casual audiences would be aware of. Most of the time, they just can be convenient filler characters for any Batman/Spiderman set, no matter how obscure they may be. On one hand, I can totally see that happening. On the other, I don't know if TLNM's failure can confidently be blamed on that factor alone, if at all. Could it be that Lego wished WB could release two cinematic movies every other year, as so that there would be a gap year for their product line without cinematic tie-in sets?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Digger of Bricks replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
How about... Alpine Goat Herder with a goat, Nomadic Shepard with a sheep/ram/lamb, Outback Adventurer with either a koala or joey/wallaby, Zoologist with a Bonobo/Orangutan/baby Gorilla, Bird Watcher with an eagle/falcon/hawk, Marine Biologist with a Manta Ray... Hey, you aren't collecting ideas for more CMFs are you? -
Lack of original themes
Digger of Bricks replied to General Magma's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well perhaps we already do have such a successful, multifaceted theme on hand, one that isn't limited by a particular setting in time. Next to City, one of Lego's most consistent best selling lines is Creator, a theme that has no foundational obligation to be tied to any time, place, or narrative; so with enough eventual evolution, Creator can be a home for many homeless themes and misfit ideas. I'm not saying that the theme should lose its creative reconstruction focus, only that it should branch out to subjects other than houses, dinosaurs, cars, robots, etc. You can, but why box them in with too specific of a focus as so to to leave them as a one-and-done fate? As opposed to loosely interconnected Space themes that all sit under this vague umbrella, why not do a line like City, perhaps named something along the lines of LEGO Galaxy? Why did 2011's Pharaoh's Quest have to be named as such, where instead it could have broadened its horizons just by simply taking the name of its spiritual predecessor? -
I don't believe Disney will allow Lego to simply represent their own property with that proposal build of theirs, as Lego designers will more likely take after Jack's cleaner design with perhaps added printing for some of the finer detailing.

What was the last movie you watched?
Digger of Bricks replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Yes, very much, except for the very ending of the movie. -
He's a little cartoonish with those angry eyes, but not bad considering! I have to admit, I find it funny that they gave him tiger stripes, as many paleontologists have long dubunked the "Saber Tooth Tiger" misnomer awhile ago. We don't know if they if had strips or not, but the presence of them on this figure seems to show that designers took after the misnomer.

TLG's disappointing 2017 financial performance

Lack of original themes
Digger of Bricks replied to General Magma's topic in General LEGO Discussion
By Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi/Historical/Fantasy, I meant a line similar to City with multiple subthemes and archetypical settings and characters, not a theme driven by only a single set storyline and named characters. Think of it as the Collectable Minifigure line of playsets. There's nothing at all wrong with one-hit-wonders, but why intentionally set them up that way? If a theme idea just can't work beyond that single storyline, make it a subtheme of a larger, conglomerate Action/Adventure line. Lego could have done a standalone Arctic Exploration theme back in 2014, but instead it was done as a subtheme of City, becoming part of a much more unified family as opposed to being part of an odd misfit bunch. -
Lego MOC LL928 Comes Home space ship and base
Digger of Bricks replied to Draginrider's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Yeah, that's just a damn shame that project didn't go any further, but to give it credit, it did get farther with supporters than any other LL928 homage project. Speaking of such, these were these two other Galaxy Explorer submissions that were also pretty darn good, one of them being done by Eurobricks user @ummester. Galaxy Explorer 2015 and LL 930 Galaxy Explorer -
I'd much rather see the return of Sand Purple over Sand Red personally, but yes, we have so little variety in red on Lego's color spectrum, so Sand Red is a better candidate for reintroduction in that respect.

TLG's disappointing 2017 financial performance
Digger of Bricks replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Like with the last official report, TLG emphasizes their strong growth over in China, where they state they've had double digit growth in revenue in that market. I've said this before elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure TLG is going to take that into account when developing new product lines from here on. Heck, it just might be something that will influence the next "big bang" action theme that possibly will succeed Nexo Knights, rumored by some to be just around the corner for next year! -
What was the last movie you watched?
Digger of Bricks replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Super 8 from 2011. -
Who knows when (if ever) we may see the second Disney CMS, as the future seems pretty booked for the Collectable Minifigure line as far as we can tell. Nonetheless, I thought I should revive this discussion for the mean time, since it seems like it will be awhile until then if a second series is presumably down the road. So, here's my wishlist! The Rocketeer, from the 1991 film. Tron and Sark, from the original 1982 movie. Woody, Bo Peep, and Jessie from the Toy Story franchise. Snow White and the Evil Queen/Witch, from the 1937 namesake classic. Hiro Hamada and Baymax from 2014's Big Hero 6. Hercules and Hades, from his namesake animated movie. Tarzan and Jane Porter, from the 1999 movie of the same name. Milo Thatch and Princess Kida (a.k.a. Kidagakash Nedakh), from 2001's Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip, from 1959's Sleeping Beauty. 1950's Mr. Incredible, 1950's Elastigirl, and Buddy (a.k.a. Incrediboy) from Pixar's The Incredibles. Rapunzel and Flynn Rider (a.k.a Eugene Fitzherbert), from 2010's Tangled. Ralph and Fix-It Felix, from 2012's Wreck-It Ralph. Merida, from Pixar's Brave. Cruella DeVil from 101 Dalmatians.

Beautiful! The limited usage of blue on this spacecraft give it such an elegant aesthetic to complement its bird-like shape, and I also like how your modest use of grebbling offsets the sleekness just a little.

Oh yeah, Hot Toys. I don't own any of those, but dang, the photorealistic faces on some of their figures are just too freaky good!

Nah, I like it! Come to think of it, Sand Green/Pearl Gold/Light Bluish Grey is a color scheme that could work nicely for an official in-house Castle theme, and I dig the predominant usage of all those Nexo shields too! On a side note, it's cool to see the face behind the SigFig.

For one thing though, I really doubt that the final Lightcycle build will be as chunky as the proposed model was, as I don't think Disney will find it as sleek and akin to the original source material. So, as a result, I believe the final build will end up being composed of less parts than the proposal had, instead resorting to finer detailing being printed. I suppose the display base seen in the original proposal will carry on over to the final product, so that could eat up a bit of the part count.

Of all the modular Ideas projects I've seen submitted recently, his really are some of the most embellished in their detailing, but in a good way though. I've always been fascinated with the concept of half-width/narrow-width modulars, but you've certainly highlighted a great many examples here and on other topics that all make a such great case for the idea. That's one that caught my eye a just little while ago, primarily for its very heavy usage of Sand Green. Thanks! I've also utilized it elsewhere on a few other topics, primarily on @danth's favorite Sci-Fi MOC discussion and @LegoModularFan's inspirational modular MOC thread.
