Errm, no. I don't mean to nitpick, but if anything, Nexo Knights is a fusion of medieval tropes and our current projections of the future. Back then, technological projections probably never had imagined a digital future, instead focusing on clockwork technology closer to the DaVinci-esque visions of the Renaissance, if anything.

Future Action and Adventure Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Also, you could say that the theme's ADU (Alien Defense Unit) kinda took after Halo's UNSC in a way. So, vaguely, it pitted B-movie extraterrestrial invaders against modern sci-fi military troopers. Sort of a funny juxtaposition come to think of it. You are incredible. I really do appreciate your summarizing of all that for a recap! -

Inspirational Modular and Castle MOCs
Digger of Bricks replied to LegoModularFan's topic in LEGO Town
If you are posting images from Flickr, you can "reduce" their size by clicking a downwards pointing arrow icon, which is the third from the left of four icons located at the bottom right-hand corner of that photo. Clicking on that brings up a small menu with various photo dimensions/sizes you can chose to download; but, it's the last option on that menu you want, which reads View all sizes. Clicking on that brings you to a new page which has a fuller collection of sizes for that particular photo. So, click on whichever size fits best, right click the photo, open it in another tab, then copy/paste the image's ULR into your Eurobricks post, and see how it works for the post's format! Now, as for photos from other sites such as LEGO Ideas, I'm not sure how to size reduce anything hosted elsewhere other than Flickr, hence why I end up posting them within "spoiler tags" just so they won't swamp the entirety of my post.- 817 replies

Future Action and Adventure Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well, most kids' ignorance of Steampunk's Victorian sensibilities may be understandable, but I can't imagine that they would be completely out of touch with the retrofuturistic aspirations of mid-century science fiction, as it's many tropes are so engrained in pop culture to the point of being clichés. I mean, Lego did touch upon those tropes for Alien Conquest's villains, with its prevalent theme of abduction and their B-movie saucercraft. I will not lie, a wave of Ninjago sets that pit the theme's heroes against Kaiju would be awesome! -
Future Action and Adventure Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hmm, what elements of it do you think Lego's core audience would be indifferent to? Would it simply be its period setting and themes of 1950's Americana? I think the mere goofiness of its Raygun Gothic Sci-Fi elements would at least catch most kids eyes, as it would certainly be distinct from most other toy lines stylistically. -

Action Theme Forum and You!
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
How about a Captain America: Civil War-like banner, with some of Lego's greatest action/adventure heroes going up against their own villains in a head-to-head stampede charge? Perhaps a few permanent pins of some select wishlist/speculation topics, just to catch the attention of new members of the forum? If not that, how about a new index topic for all noteworthy wishlist/speculation topics instead? -

In the toolbar that's situated above your posting box, there are five icons, which are from left to right... A chain link, a quotation mark, two opposing brackets, an eye, and a smiley face. It's the fourth icon (the eye) that you want to click on, which in turn brings up a "spoiler box" into which you can post whatever content you wish to keep from being immediately visible.- 817 replies

You know, can we definitively describe The Lego Movie and its resulting spinoffs and sequels collectively as a "cinematic universe"? Though all three movies we've seen so far roughly share the same style, aesthetic, and unique brand of humor, are they interconnected enough to be described as such, given how seemingly disconnected The Lego Ninjago Movie is from the other two? Maybe I should more ask, how intermeshed should a series of movies be to be considered as a universe, as opposed to a collection of successive sequels and spinoffs?

Cool! Any CMFs in particular you've been designing or have your mind on? Three Space themed CMFs I'd wish to maybe see as BrickHeadz would be of the S17 Retro Space Hero (of course), the S7 Galaxy Patrol, and the S6 Intergalactic Girl. Also, the S13 King and S15 Queen would be some very colorful choices to caricature as BrickHeadz too.

Future Action and Adventure Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wow. I really could see an action theme like this happening, as it's practically Scooby-Doo meets 1950's B-movies! It's just brimming with possibilities that I feel could give this line a long life, and there are so many character possibilities beyond the few excellent archetypes you have presented! I like how the construction focus would be centered on the creatures, much like recent Aquazone themes such as Aqua Raiders and Atlantis; and the inclusion of secret agency MIB types... Seriously, what could stop Lego from doing a theme like this?! Well, who can argue with that? -
How about BrickHeadz caricatures of regular (non-licensed) Collectable Minifigures that already exist? I suppose we do have this year's upcoming seasonal BrickHeadz, which kinda fit that bill, but does anyone have any favorite past CMFs that they wish to see a official BrickHeadz sets?

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Digger of Bricks replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
So, I'd presume that these hero archetypes take after the high school jocks and teeny boppers of that era? That's kinda cool, and I'd guess they'd be supplied with some Ray-O-Matic type monster fighting technology by their local, Doc Brown like crazy scientist. If you have a more fleshed out idea for this action theme, perhaps you could share it here on this topic:- 991 replies

While I may consider Alien Conquest a Space theme myself, I can understand arguments against that designation. But to say that's not the case for Life on Mars and Mars Mission... I mean, what sort of arguments did those people bring to the table to say that?!

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Digger of Bricks replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I most definitely would prefer one that takes after the science fiction of the 1930's myself too, as its rocketcraft would take on a more wild, teardrop shape as opposed to the Sci-Fi rocketships of the 50's, which more rather resembled warhead rockets instead of spacecraft. But, having said that, I'd still be interested to see what Lego would do for 1950's Space theme if they were to hypothetically head that direction instead. By the way, what idea for a theme did you have anyway, despite it not being Space related?- 991 replies

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Digger of Bricks replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Not sure? Which would you rather want to see, a space theme inspired after the old comic strips of the 1930's (think Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon), or one that takes after the B-Movies of the 1950's?- 991 replies

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Digger of Bricks replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Oh yes, I'm aware of those conditions, but given how popular "realistic" space material is for many Ideas projects and products, I think that's why Space was the chosen theme of this contest. Perhaps Lego was expecting more entries generically based upon space shuttles, payload rockets, and exploration probes from this contest, and instead in turn got a whole lotta Classic Space (not to mention a surprising amount of Retro Space). How about Retro Space? You know, Rocketships, Rayguns, Evil Emperors, Dashing Heroes, Jetpacks, Art Deco Motifs, Comic Strip Colors and Styling... Never seen that before in a in-house Space theme.- 991 replies
