Though "spar" means "save (money)" in e.g. Danish and German. Not planned, but nice name for a supermarket

Very nice model, dtomsen. Very nice to see some homely trains I do remember Litra MH from my childhood, as I lived in a town where DSB used some shunters. They were green at the time, and the bigger ones, Litra MT, I remember as being red and black.

As I am going to Barcelona later this year, I am - of course - interested in knowing if there are any places worth visiting when it comes to LEGO? Anything to see? Or good places to buy (new or used)? Let me hear, if you have got any recommendations. Thanks!

I already have bought a couple of set on online auctions without a chance to see the sets in real life, before I got the package. My main worries were actually more if the buys would be flawless. So far no problems. In one of the sets, the minifigs were not original, though, but there was the same amount of minifigs as the set originally contains. But I didn't worry too much about that - they were not the stars of the set. So I would not bother to buy other used sets. As long as the price seems fair. I would not buy a very expensive MISB. It does not add that much value to me. But of course, I prefer the bricks to be in a relatively good shape. Some bricks I may replace if needed. I do not have a nostalgic/"neurotic" attachment to my newer sets, just the sets from my childhood

What is your favorite lego series
LAKAbricks replied to Bluecoat officer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I guess my favourite is City. Most likely of nostalgic reasons, as it was the first LEGO I got (besides Duplo) - though it was known as Town at the time (reveals absolutely nothing about my age ). But nowadays I also have interest in streetscapes, public spaces, architecture and transportation, so it fits very well with City. Other themes that I like are Castle and Pirates, second and third themes I got. This is probably because I like history (and a good knight or pirate story too... ). Other themes have caught my interest as well, but mainly for single sets and not the theme as a whole. -
Really great building, Alois. Fits Steenstraat very well. A funny detail is the green sofa, I almost can imagine it in real life, including the green fabric - exactly in that nuance And you really have bought a lot of white radiator grilles And I can see that Steenstraat has now actually become two streets with a tram loop. Are you expanding the streets down at the far end of the tram loop? EDIT: And I just learned something. I thought that SPAR was a German chain, but I see it is actually Dutch.

Oh, then you are really close in realizing this project, G0M. I guess you're thrilled to get started putting these bricks together I look forward to see the result.

So many details to see. What I particularly like are the grey windows on the upper floor - and the Chinese lanterns, clever builds. And the roof. Beautiful MOC, andybear.

I like all the details in the design, Eliza, not least the fish. And how you made the red/black decoration around the bistro's window. And nice contrast between the colourful facade of the bistro and the dark grey facade of the upper floors.

Interesting design, G0M. I like the red wall and roof around the gates. Are you planning to make it in bricks? And any interior? And welcome to Eurobricks

And another tram - in total 1683 parts, significantly fewer (but most likely also bigger) bricks than you find in the Modular buildings. But more expensive. And still a very interesting and tempting set. It is really a dilemma...

When I compare the prices in Denmark with those in Italy, it seems the prices here are 17-27% higher than in Italy. In that case the price will somewhere between DKK 1650 and 1800 - as much as EUR 240.

And also, I think, some interesting pieces: ice lolly, bicycle, dog, tap - and several other things suitable for making details.

Really great design, niteangel. I liked it instantly when I saw it this morning. It is so interesting to see how an architect interpret the bricks Will it be ok, if I borrow the general idea/concept for my own fire station? For hours I kept thinking about how it could be after seeing this piece of work.

If you take a look at Karcsi's profile, you will see, he has not been active on EB for more than a year and a half. And the last time he wrote in this thread was in 2012. Do not expect a response, at least for a while. Please do consider this, before reactivating threads again, even though they can be very interesting (also for others ). He has got a link to a homepage, though, try to check it out. Maybe you can find some contact information there.

Great idea, both as a concept you do not see that often on EB, as well as a space saving way to make a display with more features. It seems your display is not wide enough to connect the two tracks into a circle, so the train(s) could run without worrying about stopping the train at the end of the track.

It's a beautiful view to see this classic train built with shiny, fresh bricks. I really like to see the interest there is for this wonderful little local train, and how people have built it in both classic red as well as other colourschemes. Though I have no plans to build this particular train, it still gives me a wish to do so - in one form or another.

For the story being told/built now, I think you hit the German style quite well. As being told now, it could not be in a Danish context. Btw. Falkenstadt in Danish would be "Falkeby", but to me it does not give the same associations as the German name. I look forward to see more progress from this impressive project, even though you do not have space for everything.

Do you have any interior in the hotel, mikaelsol? - It looks good with the floors, so the sign is not taller than the building itself.

She is really beautiful, breakdown. I can understand why you are in love

The present index of town layouts where you also can contribute when you have something you want to show. The old index is no longer maintained, but has got a lot of interesting layouts. Go through the different layouts and get inspired. Both for style and size. A lot of Eurobrickers do not hesitate to recommend the modular buildings. And they are indeed magnificent buildings. But consider how much space you have got and what you would like to build. You can easily make interesting layouts with more classic styled/sized buildings, or maybe you will prefer the creator style/size. There are so many options with LEGO - that's the beauty of it For a start, I would definately also recommend Creator 3-in-1, as Tragic Banjo does. But I will also say, if you like a City set, do not hesitate to buy it, if you see any potential in the set. You can always MOD it. For details/interiors in shops and restaurants, you might be interested in Friends that has got a lot of accessories. Regarding the Classic set, you will get a lot of (mainly plain) bricks which might be nice. But also notice it will be on the "a little bit of this and little bit of that"-basis. It will probably not give you a lot bricks for bigger structures. Finally welcome to Eurobricks - and to the LEGO world. It's never too late to start here

Hehehe... Good idea I can understand why you won't let it go.

Normally I do not comment on cars, but when I saw your van I caught myself thinking, it was a nice van. And the wood chipper is also interesting. Not often, you see that in LEGO.

Though I am not a big fan of modulars, I agree here. I have seen many smartly designed streetscapes, made with road plates, using the pavements of the modulars and then adding a row of trees, parking and bus stops on the roadplates. Or making an even wider pavement.

That's really breaking news, LT. Now, we have been following New Mannum for many years. For me, probably since I joined EB (and probably also in the time of lurking...). It will be hard to get used to "Wandin Valley"... Wandin Valley, Wandin Valley, Wandin Valley... I guess you will continue with the same "concept" of town, as you have followed with New Mannum - an Australian village/small town?
