  1. GE is a fantastic modular, and was also the first modular I got to build. And so far the only one. Right now it's not built, but I look forward to rebuilding it. And fill it with custom interiors. The chandelier is really a special part of this set. Already before I got GE, I was crazy about the chandelier. I look forward to see what you are going to do about the Christmas set, VLE.
  2. It is really a beautiful MOC, Kevin8. Regarding the swan, I think the width might fit. A swan is bigger than ducks, and I think they might be almost as wide as a human.
  3. Hehehe... Nice idea, dr_spock, and a lot of great selling points. I like the 4 wide design. And it's even the second I have seen today (the other being of Farnheim). EDIT: just spelling
  4. Excellent use of the cupboard, Farnheim. You projects really show, why the 4 wide cars are not doomed out yet.
  5. Is it normal to go to church in rural Australian town? And do people dress nicely for that? - Here in Denmark, it's not that normal to go to church, and most people just wear normal clothes. Just at important occasions people will dress up for church. In general, of course
  6. In the 80s, the trains generaly had the DB-logo (at the time Deutsche Bundesbahn) on their fronts... So maybe LEGO City in reality is called LEGO Stadt? And then, on the other hand, if Paradisa belongs to the Greater LEGO City Area, then we have got a lot of palms. So maybe not Germany after all.
  7. Thanks, VintageLegoEra Hmmm... It's purely optical. When compared to each other, they reveal they have the same size. What a shame But I still think the design of the red motor bike is nice. The old motor bikes were definately smaller. Take a look at the bike seller in your picture below. The motor bikes reach the same height as the minifig's shoulders I know LEGO isn't to scale - but this is too much out of scale. Unfortunately. And thanks for sharing your pictures and review with us. It was needed. Despite some flaws, this is an important City set.
  8. I also like the red motor bike a lot. Do you have a picture of the two motor bikes next to each other for comparison? Normally, I think the new motor bikes are too big (I am used to the ones from the 80s), but somehow the red one looks smaller than the green one - even though they have the same kind of frame.
  9. The Stobie Pole is a good detail, LT. - I had to look it up, as I have never been to SA For fellow-EB'ers who haven't been to SA either, you can read about the Stobie Pole on Wikipedia.
  10. Well... In the first place, I didn't notice the lack of a check-in counter... And I even love airplanes and flying
  11. This is really a high-quality bus stop. Very nice build, good facilities. I wonder if the bus serving this stop has the same high standard. If it has, no wonder there are so many people attracted by the public transport of the area served
  12. It's very popular building airports right now. And I don't mind Your airport, KeepLeft, is rather unusual, as it's built from the GE parts. You have done quite a good job there. Clever use of the interior, too. I wonder, though, which side of the building is the airside and which is the land side? The planespotter is taking pictures on the side with the entrance, so it must be the airside, but then you have got the conveyor belt on the land side. I hope you will continue building on the project. Very interesting!
  13. Great to have you and Ballabreek back, greg3. I look forward to see what has happened in Ballabreek this year.
  14. A funny thing about this set is the statue. A statue like that looks like something that belongs on a square surrounded by old buildings, whereas these buildings have got a quite modern architecture. The statue would have been better with the City Corner's pizzeria which looks much more classic in its style. Otherwise a good set, though I also am counted to the persons who think the crane should not have been in the set. Otherwise I like the idea of sets like City Corner and Town Square - sets delivering buildings, street interior and vehicles to the life in town. And it's great with the busses. Way too long Lego City has been without public transport, except for the (mainly long-distance) trains. EDIT: spelling
  15. To break up the long row of glass facades, you could put a white art deco building. I think it would still fit the streetscape. - I think you made the one, I have on my mind, but so far, I haven't found it.
  16. Different kinds of harbours? Beach, lighthouse? Some shops related to maritime activities? - Hmmm... How much is left from the historical Port Belair? EDIT: A beachhotel?
  17. Sounds great. Eventually, you can MOD the marina and harbour sets, if you don't have any MOC-projects on your mind. I'll keep watching as long as you keep updating
  18. A very historical looking lighthouse. I actually come to think of Pharos lighthouse of Alexandria.
  19. What kind of town/city, do you intent to build? A low rise town or high rise city? You wrote in the Anvil thread that Port Belair has been a harbour for centuries. What about some hints to the harbour/maritime life?
  20. Congratulations - that's only around 10 posts each day
  21. Like the cash maschine, LT. Not exactly discrete in design, but somehow it looks like something you could see around. And the dark blue of the CityBank is not a bad colour to use
  22. It might be explained by the fact there are so few beds. They drink coffee to stay awake as they cannot stay too long in bed when sharing it with 237 other minifigs
  23. Do you have an idea, how many hardware stores, you have built by now? I like the rather clean design on this one.
  24. Thanks for sharing your interpretation of BS&C, sonicstarlight. It's nice to see, how you keep the original ideas of details, but still make the buildings into your own. And making the buildings 14 wide instead of 16 wide is also an interesting thing to do. It adds new sides of the modulars, eg. the passage. Your MOC bike shop really has an industrial look. But could also easily go for being an old department store, except maybe for the ground floor. And I absolutely do not mind your idea of putting the bikes on the upper floors. As an open-back/classic town/city guy, I did not even think about the problems the minifigs will have bringing the bikes up and down. - And your minifigs are more lucky than mine, in all my collection, there is only one toilet
  25. Besides the modulars and Creator sets, I don't recall many other buildings with closed backs. Oh... The 10193 Medieval Market Village and the 3739 Blacksmith Shop. Though they are not for sale anymore, so they have to be bought second-hand. Like Lightningtiger, I also prefer open-back buildings, and I also consider changing the few modular buildings, I have, into open-backs, just like TheLegoDr.
