Fantastic project, kevin8. All those details, street interior, a small café, even stuff under the water (where's the old bike? ). I really hope you will find time to build this cityscape, including some buildings to surround it. It will great. Really great. All the best wishes for your projects.

And I just noticed how well transparent tiles work as water. When you take pictures in the right angle, you get the reflections of the motifs behind. Really nice looking effect.

Really beautiful beach area, Serpico. I like the promenade with hotel and restaurants. Even though it can be a bit tiresome to see the same modular buildings in layouts, your cityscape and landscape is so well-made, that the buildings are not the stars in this diorama.

I can only agree that this project looks very promising, bensaunders. And welcome to Eurobricks, by the way. As the others, I also prefer the 4-wide aircraft. I have several airports, including the first one from 1985. As more people here, I have also tried to build a big airport. One project I particularly remember was a one-level terminal, built on raised baseplates. I think I raised the plates three bricks up, so it fitted with the aircrafts. The mainbuilding consisted of 1 48x48 baseplate, and the finger two 32x32 road plates with two jet brigdes on each side. And just like you, it never really reached a level, I wanted, due to lack of bricks. But hey! It worked anyway I look forward to see more your airport project. Enjoy building with your boys.

ZeRui, welcome to Eurobricks. And thanks for sharing the brickbuilt version of the interior. It's very nice to see it in bricks, and I like, you kept the studs on the floor. Kevin8, it has now been proved that your design is very well made.

Well said, Only Sinner Zanki, it's a very personal style, you have given your city. That you feel restricted by the number of bricks (I guess we all do... ) doesn't really show, though. You have managed to make a busy, lively city. Of your MOCs, I like the blue and white building, a juice bar? And quite interesting as you have combined the different series, like making a railway station out of 8077 Atlantis Exploration HQ. Regarding the Japanese castle, you should make a Japanese garden with it - then you will have a Japanese cultural centre in your city.

Interesting layout, AirborneAFOL. Quite different and personal. And very compact, but I don't consider it negative. I am amazed by your collection and building techniques, as you just got back into LEGO last winter. One thing I would like to see is some shots along the streets behind. There are more details to be discovered there.

Good to see an update of all New Mannum, LT. I just wonder if the man with the big red had next to Foodland took a wrong leftturn somewhere... I just realized that the buildings are mainly white. Is that normal for Australian towns? Of the two kinds of silos, I would choose the first ones... I think.

It's always a joy to see your 4-wides, Farnheim. I am always torn between the classic 4-wides and the newer 6-wides. But you certainly prove it is possible to make detailed, wonderful-looking 4-wides. Of these two, I especially like the "little brother". I remember a similar truck from my childhood.

Woah! I think, I have missed some updates here. The square itself is already impressive. With the metro entrance and the big palms even more impressive. For better connetions between the different modes of public transport, you should make a bus stop close to the metro.

If possible, I would also like to join the RA, please. -
It depends on which kind of buildings you want in your town/city. Most AFOLs go for the modular buildings, of which a new building is launched every year. The creator houses come in a rate of one to three per year. But the classic, open-back town/city house (when not counting the fire and police stations), they are not seen often. But there are still some buildings, though some of them might require a bit of MOD'ing, or they can deliver some useful bricks for MOC'ing: 60048 Police Dog Unit 60050 Train Station contains a snack bar and a LEGO store 60003 Fire Emergency can be turned into a small shop 60008 Museum Break-In 60009 Helicopter Arrest this could easily be MOD'ed into a garage 60026 Town Square a must have, if you want an open-back town 60031 City Corner also a must have (limited re-release of 7641 And those are just the set released in 2013 and 2014. - I am actually quite surprised about the number of buildings. And I have never thought about turning the 60009 into a garage. Now I have to put it on my wishlist As Lightningtiger says, you can also buy the 31026 Bike Shop & Cafe. It can easily be MOD'ed into open-back buildings. I guess you can even get three buildings out of it.

I have tried to use LDD a couple of times, but I have never really succeeded. Hence I also use my head and bricks to create and materialize my ideas. To remember ideas, I make a sketch on a piece of paper with a squared grid. It can roughly make it out for being LEGO. It's quite impressive what people can do with buildings in LDD. But I think it's more funny to brickbuild ideas - and see them.

Retail Store Displays.......designs to fill your store MOC's
LAKAbricks replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
Now I managed to see your work. Great idea this ... sports accessories rack. Is the rack behind attaced directly to the plates? And how deep is it? Two or three studs? -
Interesting project, kc2dc. It's not often we see a transit center/public transport hub on Eurobricks. With this transit center, the citizens and guests in your LEGO city easily can get around in town. A detail I like, is that you have made the same design on all three platforms, no matter which kind of train service it is regarding. It is giving a feeling of integration between the modes. By the way, your city looks quite interesting. Hope to see more of it.

Retail Store Displays.......designs to fill your store MOC's

Well, LT, it seems that Brickshelf is still down. But it's a really good idea to make a thread about store displays. After all, you have made tons of that I hope that Brickshelf is up running soon - and to see (more) of your ideas. -
Love the corner, it's a good detail on a quite simple building. And interesting design for the taps. But I miss some guest rooms in the hotel, LT

Welcome to Eurobricks, LazorApple. There are two indices, from where you can find inspiration for layouts: - Town Layout Index (new) - Index: Town Layout (old) What kind of buildings are you making? Classic open-back? Modular? Please do not hesitate to show your layout when you think it's ready for publishing.

Welcome to Eurobricks, mikaelsol. Such a nice classic town, you have got there Very compact, though Are all the classic 80s models original? Or have you have you used Bricklink/Pick-a-Brick/Shop@Home to get the bricks? I can see that not all bricks are in the originial colours. And one more question: The red and white striped lids/covers on the ice cream cart (the good, old classic one from 1985), are they the ones you have played with as a child? The are in such a good condition. On mine, the red stripes are faded/partly worn off. I look forward to see more from Soltown.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
LAKAbricks replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
GE is still available on the Danish S@H, together with PS, TH, PC, PR and HH. All under "Hard to Find". -
Well, my very first thought was actually: "What? A hardware store not designed by lightningtiger? That can't be!" But indeed it is. Yooha, the details in the architecture are very well made. I can easily see that building in a streetscape. And interesting street lamp, you have made. The interior is also great, many interesting things to buy in the shop. Hope you will brickbuild this.
-
Good idea, Serpico, and the work has been done just brilliantly. I have been thinking about the same, though I guess it would never match your design. Funny idea with the small scale train and cable car.
-
And - at least for GE and PC - the baseplate is also the floor on the ground floor of the building, with the GE having a tan floor and PC a red floor (carpet).
