  1. As others say - it depends on why you bought it. And you write you have no plans selling it, as you love Fabuland. If there are parts inside the boxes you would like to use in your layout, given you have one, you might open it. Or buy the parts used, as has also been suggested. If you think it is fun to have a sealed box - keep it that way. Personally I would looove to find a set I wanted as a kid, open it, see those old, perforated plastic bags containing the untouched bricks from decades ago. And if it is a big box, opening the front to take a look inside, seeing the special bricks arranged in the plastic tray those were the times
  2. I guess the newer, bigger planes are more appealing to most children - and they definately have some great playfeatures, such as doors that can be opened and galleys. But as many other posters here, I agree that the big, specialized parts are not very versatile. As you might have guessed already I, too, prefer the old, four-wide aircraft which I think could have been developed further, as we e.g. saw it with the Transcon 2 which was longer and with bigger wings than other aircraft. Maybe new wings and engines could have been designed - not least a new propeller with six blades to reflect the development of modern turboprops.
  3. Technically not today, though less than 24 hours ago, I bought a selection of bricks - primarily plates - from online PAB. Most of the bricks (plates) are destined for my present MOC project. Chicken Suit Guy is included in the order as a free gift - have got no idea whatsoever what to do with him though...
  4. I like the interiors of this little shop, LT. The blue box shelves and the wooden panels on the other wall. Good to see you back online with new MOCs.
  5. Vikings can represent several Nordic countries, not just Sweden, but also Denmark, Norway and Iceland (the sagas are from Iceland). But the Little Mermaid is Danish.
  6. Unless the possible new company is going to change strategy for bricks and expand the product palette considerably, I do not see it should be a big competitor to LEGO. As I see the present product ranges there is a quite narrow focus on (licenced) action themes. Some if these probably have a large fan base, but I do not see it as being enough. LEGO offers so much more, including own brands that are big sellers (Friends, Ninjago...). Besides that I guess (my own personal assumption) more people are (hardcore) LEGO fans than fans of other brands. I think, either you are a LEGO fan or you are a brick fan with no particular brand preferences (generally spoken). I grew up with LEGO (and being a Dane) and I do not find any themes from neither Mega Bloks or Kre-O attracting me, so most likely, I would personally never buy bricks from a competitor.
  7. It seems the amount of bricks on PAB is going down. I remember the total number of variants used to be 1469 some months ago. Last week it was down to 1425, and now it is only 1418. Either a heavy restocking is needed - or it is definately going down. (And of course, the bricks I need are not available... )
  8. Now they fit the City buildings It is funny to see a layout with smaller versions of the modulars.
  9. It is still a very detailed and very beautiful layout, Serpico. So many things to see. - The larger buildings still fit the layout, I think.
  10. Even though the cooperation between TLG and Shell has ended (and the way of Shell can be discussed - which I am not going to do here), Shell is still a classic brand for petrol stations in LEGO cities, and therefore your conversions of the sets give an almost nostalgic feeling. It looks nice, LEGO Train 12 Volts.
  11. Quite an impressive layout you have, Cunctator. And nice to see there is still a development in your city. You are lucky you have the space for expansion - which is needed with those "super-sized" modulars I like it with the castle in the background. Together with the architecture, it shows it is a city with a long history. Are you planning having any modern-styled buildings in your town as well, or do you want to stick to the more classic-styled architecture you have got now?
  12. I really like the park set and the Octan station. The park has a nice and diverse selection of minifigs and wonderful accessories. It reminds me a bit of City Minifigure Collection. Regarding the Octan station, it is nice to see one of these back again. It is a classic part of (almost) every LEGO city. As mentioned above, it is a shame that it does not include baseplates, and I do not understand (either) why the wheels have to stick out like that. But great the set is a 2-in-1 The airport subtheme on the other hand does not thrill me. The airport terminal is quite dull and I am still not a big fan of those big aircraft. I hoped for the starter set, but yet another helicopter? And a mailbox? Though it is nice to see that the postal service is still alive.
  13. Ooooh... I would love to go to sauna now... Though I go to sauna when I visit Finland, I still have not tried to go into the hole in the ice (as I have only been to Finland in the summer). Only cold water from the stream, I have tried. And maybe a lake... And it still makes you hurry back to the sauna Great MOC, Heksu.
  14. I have also have some of the new City-sized Creator buildings. I plan to "cityfy" them with open backs Even though I am no fan of Big Bang Theory, I also think this combination with "city space" is brilliant. I think in general, greg3, you cleverly include a lot of different sets into Ballabreek and connect it all with a story.
  15. Try to consider what kind of pavement it is. Pick up inspiration from your own town/city and see which colour of bricks match the most. In Brazil I have seen pavements in different colours, some of them even painted to match the facade of the building. Personally I would go for the light grey, though.
  16. A Happy New Year to you, too, greg3. It is nice to see Ballabreek back on track for 2016 with new developments. I have been curious to see what would happen in the residential area. It is interesting with the new buildings making the pizzeria company. It is making the central area much more dense. I will miss the little two-family-house though. With the new Creator houses fitting to City buildings, it raises the question whether or not the buildings should be open-backed. I recognize it makes the buildings more "whole" to have a back wall, though I still have a preference for open-back buildings. I guess I am one of few, so I am happy to see you still keep some of the buildings that way.
  17. In 6597 Century Skyway/10159 City Airport we have got Airoline and in 41109 Heartlake City Airport, we find Heartlake Airlines. Also in Heartlake we find Grand Hotel (41101) and Heartlake Shopping Mall (41058). EDIT: Adding links.
  18. Very nice and elegant building. And I'm, too, crazy about the green side
  19. That's a shame about the layout but I'm sure there will be interested buyers out there, if you decide to sell. Until then enjoy your town sets
  20. Hi Craig, welcome to EuroBricks and welcome back to the world of LEGO. As a child of the 80s, too, I love to see classic Town. I therefore look forward to see your collection. Are you intending to build a town layout?
  21. You definately need some more table space, timmyc. But well... Who doesn't? I think it willl get really good when you get the harbour area right. Especially if you can use the "cave" behind the airport. Look forward to next update.
  22. Very lovely building. What I really like is the clean, yet detailed facade. It is not too packed with details, but it is still interesting to look at. EDIT: I agree with Redhead1982 that the corner needs some more support - it looks too... "flying" - if you understand me...
  23. I wanted to buy Heartlake Grand Hotel at (almost) 50% off in a supermarket today. Unfortunately it was sold out. What to do? Next supermarket is far away. So I called my parents and asked if the could make a try in their supermarket. They would, and so my father went looking for a Friends' set for his adult son And had luck. I cannot wait to get it, so many interesting pieces.
  24. I even have both. You cannot have too many trams
