  1. It's nice to see aircraft are still being built in classic style, though I miss the use of older parts/bricks, like the nose, the engines (now with four studs) and more elegant roof parts. The tail also could be a little better, imo. It also could need a front wheel that can turn. But that can be fixed I can't help to compare it to 1775 Aircraft, also a promotional set, but from 1994. But still, it's on my wishlist. Fits perfectly with my airport collection
  2. On Railbricks.com, the picture shows it's a "9V Revolution", while on ME-Models.com it's "The next evolution" that "will revolutionize the train hobby as you know it." - Well, I didn't know ME-Models.com before now, but to me it sounds a little strange if LEGO should produce a special track just for this site. Does anyone know, if they use bricks made especially for ME Models? Regarding the tracks on the car, it's really looks like one the of the old blue tracks, I have got. Just another colour... It definately has nothing to do with the tracks in use now. But anyway, it's interesting to see what ME Models have to show at the end of March...
  3. Thank you, both of you. Hej is not much different from the English hi. Well, it's amazing to think about that a plastic toy from "my" little country can excite people all around the world. I'm happy we all have the chance to share our interest here.
  4. Thanks, I've really been enjoying reading alot of threads here. Not least about trains. It really makes you dream
  5. Though a relatively old thread, it has been funny to read. My own favourites are the 4558 Metro Liner (surprise, surprise...) and the 7745 High-Speed City Express. About the latter one, I have a vague memory of the commercial running on German TV at that time. If I remember right, the bricks came flying as the train was built up from the bottom as it was running along the tracks. It really made a little boy dreaming... (Does anyone else remember that? I'm just getting in doubt, if the technology was that advanced in the beginning of the 80s.) As I'm new to trains, I only have got the 7938 Passenger Train which I think is the best passenger train (Santa Fe and her "sisters" not counted here) since the Metro Liner.* Though I'm not that interested in cargo trains, I must say, the cargo trains during the last 15-20 years, have had a much higher standard than their passenger counterparts. NOTE ADDED: * Just like more people have stressed here, the 7938 is not perfect, e.g. lacking light and doors. But now I will consider that challenges for some MODs to be done (plans are under way).
  6. My favorite is the 4554 Metro Station (1991). It's a marvelous piece of LEGO architecture. As I was a child in the beginning of the 80s, I also like the 7824 Railway Station (1983). The 7997 Train Station (2007) is nice for a small town railway station. The only station, I've got is the latest one - 7937 Train Station (2010) which is also nice, though it lacks a proper building (but hey - we're AFOLs, it's just a small challenge ). I especially like it's a modernized version of the old 7822 Railway Station (1980).
  7. Thanks for the welcome. I already have enjoy this forum a lot. There are lots of interesting topics. Yes, she's very supportive. Actually so much that she wants me to buy a second train. But I think it's because she also enjoys playing with the train You definately should buy the Public Transport. It's a great set. The most important part to me was the tram, but I got rather happy for the bus as well, it's really well designed. I really look forward to build my town someday I get a little more space for it.
  8. Hi everybody! I've been a fan of LEGO since I was just a little boy in the beginning of the 80s. But train was never a part of my collection, though I really liked some of the sets available at the time. Last year, a new TRU opened in my town, and thus had an offer, I couldn't reject: 50% off on all LEGO My heart was set on the 8404 Public Transport Station. Though I didn't want to buy too much (financial reasons...), my beloved wife encouraged me to buy some more. After all, you don't get an offer like that every day And then I decided to buy the 7938 Passenger Train and the 7937 Train Station. A small beginning, but it definately has caught my interest PS If you think, you have read this before, it's because it's the same as I wrote in the thread What got you into Lego? - Origins of your Lego Experiance.

  10. The last major set, I bought for a period of five to seven years was the 6597 Century Skyway . It must have been 1994 or 95. I just had to have that airport, even though I didn't play that much with LEGO anymore. But after that, I still didn't put my LEGO totally away. And I still collected the catalogues. So I won't call it a dark age per se.
  11. Hi there, I'm 'laka' from Denmark - home country of LEGO I've been playing with LEGO for almost all of my childhood. Though there was a substantial downturn in getting/buying LEGO sets during my teen years in the 90s, I never really got into the dark ages. I still collected the catalogues, studied the new sets and old idea books. After the turn of the millenium I started to collect again. My preferred themes are city, pirates and castel. Well, I also had to have some of the Prince of Persia sets. And just newly, I got into trains which added new aspects to my (yet unbuilt) town.
  12. Interesting technique to make the wave/shape. Might also be used for other things. If you could put some transparent bricks, it might give a more "water feeling" to the wave.
  13. Though I agree on the comments on the street sweeper and the car (it's not public transport), I still think this is an outstanding set. For a long time, I had wondered, how I could build a tram. But those thoughts could be put on ice for a while when this set was launched. As I was willing to buy one set at full price, I was really lucky to get a special offer with 50% off the price. This - of course - resulted in buying two sets Now it would be really nice with some baseplates with built-in tracks. Both on the street and along. Of course compatible with existing tracks. But I guess it will be a little hard to do.
  14. Hej Esben, Really a great job there. So many amazing details. I especially like the glass roof, the machines for validating the tickets (the small yellow boxes on the platforms), the display with timetables at the busstops, timetables on the platforms, Harry (the purple teddy bear) on the windows of the Kort & Godt kiosk, and the ads (in this case for "Klovn"). And I can see that Flintholm has been upgraded to a long-distance railway station I like the ET/Øresundstog (the grey train on the upper deck).
  15. For years - even decades - I have had a big wish for an Egyptian theme. I know there there is a second theme now containing Egyptian inspired elements, but to someone who has a big interest in egyptology, unfortunately it seems a little... silly. I don't ask for an exact copy of Egypt, but with a little more accurancy to how it actually looked like, and please, no living mummies (it's not a horrormovie). If you look at e.g. pirates or castle, it's seems more accurate. Models could include pyramids, a sphinx, temples, fortresses, palaces, villages. If the combined with a Greek or Roman theme, the lighthouse at Pharos or library of Alexandria could be a model. Those were the words of my very first reply on this interesting forum
