In the pizzeria of the 7641 City Corner there is an empty attic/loft which I have MOD'ed into a small flat. It solves the housing problem for at least one minifig, though hundreds of other minifigs are waiting for a home. I have other plans of this kind for other buildings, and furthermore I am going to MOC some buildings with homes too.

While I am not a collector of Friend I always find it interesting to look through the sets. The can provide lots of details for City, though these sets do not seem to offer that much. The better one, in my opinion, is the set with the bike. Beside the bike it also gives you a lot of small wheel for trolleys, a couple of red bowls and a post box.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
LAKAbricks replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Ohhh... There are a lot of interesting building techniques and details in the architecture. But it does not really draw me towards it like e.g. GE and PR did. And I am not sure about the green colour of the windows. Green could work, but not in that tone, I think. - But maybe the building will grow on me... -
Hmm... Yet another series of City sets that I have no particular wish to get. On the other hand, it leaves space and funding for other bricks to buy, so maybe not a big loss The Corner Deli confirms that Creator has taken over part of the tasks formerly filled out by City sets. And thanks for that, less panel walls and more bricks. The Deli, in my eyes, looks a lot like the Café and Bike Store and at the same time also have similarities with Detective's Office. Though not love at first sight, I guess it's a set that will end up on my wish list - and ultimately - on my desk...

Nice to see Brickville grow, SalvoBrick I guess though you cannot leave there for long. But it is always a joy to see what it could be, if just one had the required space. I really like your own definition of modular buildings. Easily recognizable, well made and not too big, so you still get the feeling of a big and diverse LEGO town.

The thought that it could be a MOD of the full-size model never went through my head. And as I like the minifig scaled models, I was happy to find this little car which I think could become a common sight in several LEGO cities.

I also agree on the roof, but otherwise it is a great little car. I like how you merged the two designs. It is nice to have an alternative to 3177.

Wonderful museum, kjm. Really rich on details, both on the outside as well as inside. I like the broad definition of "Knight Museum", that is, you have included warriors from many cultures and ages. A particular part I like is the Japanese section where you made a scenery that highlights this part of the exhibition.

All in all a very impressive building, peedeejay. Only thing that disturbs my eyes are the nougat and olive green colours, as TheLegoDr also pointed out earlier. Otherwise I think it is a beautiful building and fantastic interior. The place is full of details and live. I guess my favourite part is the facade of the store, it is really well made, and has as 6ix says, "a London vibe".

Welcome to Eurobricks, stcviper. The small LEGO Store looks really nice in minifig size, good job you have done there. I like the interiors, and I agree that the PAB wall by L@GO looks the best. With the light inside, one is really drawn to the store - I want to do some shopping now How did you make the yellow bricks on the roof? I cannot really figure it out. I looks like DUPLO, but I am not quite sure.

... And you do not have that now?

Innkeeper, I guess... Then I could work in a charming inn like this and have the fair maiden as my colleague I am working in at the front desk in a hotel.

If I remember right, I have never changed my avatar here at EB. It shows a heraldic figure - a white eagle, I assume, with the colours of Legoland (black, white, blue red and yellow) on it's chest. On top of the eagle a crown. I made this MOC when I was younger, probably a young teenager. It's built on a 48x48 baseplate expanded with three 16x8 baseplates.

Who else here is into all sorts of themes?
LAKAbricks replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Like most other EB'er, I also have sets from several themes. But my main focus is on three of the four classic minifig themes - namely town/city, castle and pirates. I tend to expand these three main themes by buying sets from other themes. Trains, creator, WV and Friends to augment town/city, Pirates of the Caribbean for pirates, and a single Indiana Jones for Prince of Persia - of which I also have a few sets. The funny thing about the licenced themes, though, is that I am not interested in them for the licenced theme - but for what they add other themes. Well Prince of Persia does not add the other themes, but has some great buildings for making a palace. So Prince Dastan might be a prince - but most likely not Dastan CMF go to which ever theme they might fit in, though sometimes it can be a hard job -
Which set is the one you enjoyed building the most?
LAKAbricks replied to BlackVagrant's topic in Community
It is really a tough question. It goes without saying, that I in general enjoy building LEGO While thinking about it, I would say something like Winter Village houses. They fit the size of town/city buildings while having more detailed architecture. And then Grand Emporium, my first modular - and favourite one. And finally I would say Research Institute, small as it is, I enjoyed building the small details contained in the set, not least the telescope. -
Finally got some time for handling some bricks today. First I took pictures of some of my sets for documenation. Afterwards I started parting out 41058 Heartlake Shopping Mall. Got that a month ago and built it right away. But as I am not going to keep it as a set, I took it apart and sorted the bricks into my containers. Some of the accessories and bricks are going to my department store which I want to finish updating so soon. A few other bricks will go to my next MOC project and some to some MOD'ing projects I have got. And then the big question: What am I going to use all the "friendly" coloured parts for (lavender, purple, pink, cool yellow...)?

+1 here... It is really an interesting architecture. And yes, it really reminds me of the Catalan Modernisme (art nouveau) which Gaudi mastered. The colours are very nice, and I must say these hotel rooms are quite spacious

The other night, I dreamt something about 1472 Vacation House (6388 Holiday House with Campervan, though in my dream it was called "Red Villa". But I am sure, it was this nice, classic set. I do not remember what the dream was about, just that the house was there. It made take an extra look at it online, as I do not own it myself. And it gave me an idea I want to pursue regarding a classic town house, though it is not this house. Maybe that was the point of my dream - to trigger some new ideas? More of that, please

Hehehe... My thoughts exactly. But if ain't a hardware store, it ain't LT I do not know if these kind of shops pop up in other countries... I guess they do, though. A kind of gift shops selling maybe a bit of flowers, tea, chocolates, decorations and other small things. All set in an romantic, "old-fashioned" interior. I think that could work in a building like this, Kristel. I was also thinking an old book store, but I am not sure about the white facade then. Otherwise, it is a very nice building, elegant in both architecture as well as colour scheme. And I somehow like the original LDD-version with the narrow windows on the ground floor. Guess it could work as an office building.

So bad for the citizens that the old post office did not survive. Here in Denmark, we have already experienced a lot of post offices closing, but now the trend has actually reversed. More and more "post shops" are opening now (in supermarkets and kiosks) because of increasing internet commerce, not because people are dropping electronic ways of communication and starting writing good old-fashioned letters again - I just wonder if "Coffee Chain" could not have used the historic building for their latest expansion? I think the rumours about the possibility of a new retail store are interesting. Cannot wait to see if the rumours are true...

Putting the Pieces Together: A Classic Lego Collection
LAKAbricks replied to drdesignz's topic in General LEGO Discussion
WOW! This is amazing! It is so wonderful to see all those classic sets in their boxes. It really brings up memories. I almost get tears in my eyes. Sets I have got myself, sets that I wanted (or wants.. . ). And those wonderful boxes where the front could be opened for a look inside. Not that I want to collect MISB, but it could be funny to get one. But I guess it would stay MISB for long... Congratulations on your find and deal, you are really lucky. -
So far, I have only contacted customer service twice regarding missing bricks in PAB orders. Missing bricks have been sent without any problems. I have never missed a brick in a set (so far), but once the sticker sheet was not in a good shape when it got out of the box. But I actually never contacted CS for a replacement. I would say I am not particularly picky. If bricks are missing or damaged, I might contact CS - especially if it is an important brick. But small cracks or the like, I most likely would not bother.

At the time being, I do not store bricks in big, unsorted boxes, but they are not sorted in every little fraction possible either. They are sorted in smaller boxes, in different categories. So it helps me a lot when looking for bricks. But I would say, I look for a couple of bricks at a time. Ideas for MOCs I develop in my head, and not by looking at bricks. When I was a child, I had LEGO all over the floor and in a box, and I often knew where the bricks were in the piles, so I did not have to search for a long time. - That does not work for me now...

I guess you went the modular way for your city. The most normal way to make a streetscape is a long road with buildings on one side. Of course it does not really resemble a city that way, but it makes it all visible to the viewer (and when you make photos to show us ). Otherwise I would say, it depends on the kind of city, you have in mind. Many people make some kind of focus point, typically a square or park. But it could also be eg. a river or harbour. And yes, it all also depends on the space available. A floor gives you the most space (and might be more exposed to dust) while a table might make it more accessible. Once - in a hopefylly not too distant future - I will start making my own layout. It will be built on a table with a maximum of 6 x 3 baseplates. So not as big as other EB'ers have got (nor as big as I would like). I have had pleanty of ideas on what I wanted to include, but I must say, I have cut it down, though I still tend to dream... But it will be some kind of city centre with some bigger buildings, and probably a kind of suburb or rural area with smaller buildings.
