[MOC] Giant LEGO F1 Car
DugaldIC replied to TheMindGarage's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is quite the ambitious build. It would be cool to see if a child could actually use it, especially to shift through the gears with all that weight. -

Nice work! It seems like quite the capable off roader. -
Looks good so far! Before you know it'll be all done. I have a question though what was your inspiration for the front headlights?

[MOC] Old Styled Race Car

I love the final product! I'll be honest I was a bit sceptical in the beginning with the framework but the bodywork has flowed everything together so well- 40 replies

Thanks for sharing, I'm glad you're enjoying. Sorry for the few odd bits in the instructions but they're never going to be perfect, @Thorsten50 has done an amazing job on them but he might be interested in the feedback.

So being loxs brother I have the pleasure of seeing all of his builds before the world does, from the very beginning good or bad. However with this model I gave him very little help besides the front suspension and he completely blew me away with what he came up with. Everything seemed to fall into place effortlessly and he even came up with his very own unique doors which work perfectly. I know I say this everytime but seriously..... This is by far your best most technical build to date

[MOC] Ford Focus ST
DugaldIC replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, correct! (I'm not sure of the term either) however I have a feeling the 2D image you used was a unfortunately based on a picture and not a blueprint, hence why the blueprint matches a picture of the car. So your scaling wasn't that bad, it was the image you were going off of unfortunately. -
[MOC] Ford Focus ST
DugaldIC replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Jeroen Ottens I think I know what the problem is with the picture you used. Is it's a simplified drawing of a side profile picture of a car. This meaning due to depth and perspective of a vehicle a side profile picture always looks shorter. So if you are to lay the picture of a car over the blueprints of it, it will never line up a 100% especially toward the front and rear of a car. But seeing as the blueprint you used lines up with the picture of a car I'd say thats the issue. It looks like you did scale it okay according to the pictures you used, minus the back half. I hope this makes sense? I know whenever I'm choosing photos for scaling I'm always very particular and cross reference to make sure that it's accurate! -
[MOC] Ford Focus ST
DugaldIC replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Jeroen Ottens that's the one angle where it looks similar. It's from the side that you notice everything. Anyways those are just my thoughts. Could you not put in a little bit of system Lego in the dead space, to fill it in? It looks like you could attach it to the underside of the liftarms above the wheel arches. -
Very good and thorough review as always! I look forward to picking this set up whenever it makes in to Canada... Thanks!

[MOC] Ford Focus ST
DugaldIC replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm not sure about this one. I mean I can recognize that it's a focus(ish) but I don't feel the scaling is all that great when compared to an actual Focus ST. -The wheel base is a bit short, the roof too tall the rear half doesn't match the shape of the car, the dash seems a little too tall and the whole car seems a bit squished/stubby. -The seats are to far forward and seem to be out of place. -I'm personally not a fan of the awkward dead space (around the wheel arches for instance) the rest of the body seems to be covered so well it seems a shame to leave the few random spots open. -I do like your solution for the top of the headlights though, that's quite a clever bit. Don't get me wrong I know in a small scale you can only do so much however I think the things I mentioned could've been represented better?! I mean maybe it's just me, as I am a bit picky with my taste/builds. I hope you take this all as constructive criticism, as I know you have the capability to do better in my opinion. -
[MOC] Porsche 918 Spyder
DugaldIC replied to Isamudyson's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I really like the modular design, it's looking awesome so far! My only thought Is that single spring suspension at the front might be a little soft but other than that excellent work, I look forward to seeing your progress -

Volcano RS Supercar
DugaldIC replied to Charbel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great work, I love the aggressive styling, intricate details and a very clever gearbox and shifting mechanism. Your video work though is on another level, how you go through the details in LDD and show the functionality is just genius, well done! -
@Thorsten50 I believe that would be the 16L black flex axle. Next time I'll add length when doing the teardown, sorry for the confusion and thank you @DutchChris for the answer.
