  1. Haha well that's only the black connectors, pins and stuff I use all the time. I have everything else set aside as to not get clustered with where I'm working and it's already a mess . Also you can't see the other table in that pic as it did a beer on it (or a few haha)! " A beer please. Do you need my shipping adress?
  2. I don't think I have much of a comment really, that would be like me asking you could you not have squeezed in some more functions and increased the interior space? See what I'm getting at? Each scale has its ups/downs and limitations. To make a large (well largish for a car) car, give it 4 power functions and, 12 unpowered features and make a strong/robust framework it's going to be heavy unfortunately! Thanks Technic Addict, you get the issues! Off chance do you have any idea how much the Hennessy venom weighed? @Lox Lego Thanks AFOL I'm glad you like it so far
  3. Well the only way it would be lighter is if I cut all the functions and made it HOG definitely won't be happening . You have to understand when you have a car the size of the Porsche, more functions and fully rc/w gearbox it's going to be a heavy car. Hence the early decision to go with AWD. Have you ever built anything on this scale before?
  4. Thanks for your help @Didumos69, it was a bit of a toss up but after testing out the durability of the non Porsche mirror I think I'll stick with it. It's fitting and durable enough, I'll add in the secondary mirrors as well in the teardown if people would like options! Ahh yes, however if you had read from the thread from the beginning you would've realized the reasoning. "You're very right about Astons not being Awd but this being 4.7 pounds in framework I added Awd early on to help with the driving. I figure by the time I'm done it'll be around 6+ and that's a lot of weight to be pushing via the rear wheels." was my previous response to the same question earlier.
  5. That's actually the colour scheme I was trying to do or come up with, I didn't think of that but it does look good! This is what I came up with but it isn't as sturdy .
  6. I have been thinking of doing black mirrors however my Lego selection in black is more slim than in orange, especially panel and regular lego wise. I'll have to get creative. Thanks! I'm glad you like that area, I had an idea and ran with it. There's so many different styles of rear diffusers (I think that's what you're getting at) on those cars, I thought I'd have some fun making my own . I'm glad it's fitting for the build! Good thinking, I've been having similar thoughts just need to come up with something. Scrounge bricklink for some more mirror possibilities! Thanks 12 Volts! The nose was difficult but I think it turned out alright and matches the car well enough ! Haha yeaa, I think I'll pass, however if you ever build it you can yolo it up all you want! who knows maybe a purple orange mash up would look alright?
  7. @Nebulaire thanks! Ahh that's a cool new piece, does it come in orange? I need more options than what I have, I'll probably have to bricklink some more pieces to get them right! I completely get what you're getting at, I'm just having trouble getting a strong mirror (as they can be used to open/close the doors) that looks right with the pieces that I have so I'll have to get creative. But you're right they don't match the car and hence my dilemma! @Meatman thanks? Haha there are some very interesting connections and only two sections that are held in one place (all others are locked in by two or more places) it's surprisingly quite solid. Even though it looks like some pieces are just hovering in place! I hope that makes sense.
  8. If you (Lego) can produce millions of parts of any colour why not make extras of every piece in every colour and have mass sales of pick a technic brick? Would the sales not be worth it? Think of the the possibilitys and mocs AFOLs could build with, panels, connectors and lift arms in any colour.
  9. Thanks! Hopefully it doesn't disappoint in person . So I've been going through mirror designs and unfortunately I still feel like the "Porsche" mirror is still the best fitting any thoughts?
  10. This is looking better, the sides could be secured width wise but I'm sure you still have plenty of bracing to do! Look forward to the bodywork , keep up the good work!
  11. This pretty awesome, it's like a mix between a ripsaw and an old challenger. Very clever build !
  12. I'd say finish it off! If you want to improve it'll be helpful to finish builds, including bodywork. If you don't have enough to colour code just build it multi coloured and possibly do a bricklink order to get the extra pieces you need? Just a thought !
  13. Thanks everyone for the interest, I had a good chat with my brother @Lox Lego and with a bit of bribing he's decided to help and we will be a photo teardown in the near future ! Thanks! I had a hard time doing a grill so I went with a smooth cover instead (there's still a special final touch for it as well)! Well you can build it whenever you like just pre warning you'll need a lot of orange and 5 wheel arches! And thanks to my good friend Scott who's great with graphics helped me out with a few finishing touches to top it all off!
  14. That's cool, do you mind sharing a link to that post? I'm curious of the feedback from it. Alright, awesome. I'm sure there's a lot more orange than the Porsche but I believe it would be a good start! I don't think there's anything too outrageous, I don't even think I used any orange #3 connectors on this build! Thanks! I wanted to build something that didn't look like I was copying the Porsche (or Jeroens DB11) in any way by using them. I think I've managed okay! The fronts done before a few finishing touches for the final edit
  15. Thanks! It means a lot, I've really been going for that covered look. hopefully it won't be too long before a final shoot/footage! Hopefully it'll do this build justice. Thanks man, Appreciate it! Why yes yes it is, I'm currently in the middle of tying up a few odds and ends right now actually! This is where I'm at, Just out of curiosity how many of you would actually consider building this? Just curious if I should be taking the time to do a photo teardown? It would be an awfully difficult process with this size/technical build. Dimensions are 18 tall, 29wide and 74 long weighing in at 6.15 pounds! I'm guessing 3000 parts or so. Let me know your thoughts!
  16. Not enough Lego or space? Haha that's all I have sorted at the moment, once I'm done hopefully I'll be a little more organized
  17. It's a mess but here's my current working space! Oh the mess of building freehand.... ! I also think this is the first picture I've ever taken of my mess off a work station haha! So there you have it.
  18. Or centre the gears like this, two up and one over! (it's been working really well for me so far) @StudRobotics
  19. @IA creations I hope your jaws alright ! @Myers Lego Technic you crack me up haha, the litteracy taken... Too far ! @Driftworks thanks. It's still coming and work to be done but it's coming! Speaking of which yea @Lox LegoI can't wait to get a proper edit done, it's been a long time in the making! For sure, anyone in the GTA or around the area, all three of us get together every so often and it would be cool to see if there's any other technic builders or fans in and around the area. It'd be cool to hear from you, PM us for details! The finalization stage. Phew it's been quite the project, my favourite to date by far!
  20. @Aventador2004 I'm glad I inspired you, I'm curious how it turns out! @StudRobotics I plan on changing the name when it's all done and completed! You're very correct though, I've been going for a Vantage GT3 look ! Also putting it on Lego ideas isn't a half bad idea, maybe when it's all done? I'd be curious to see what they think! Thanks Technic Addict! Hopefully you'll see it soon. thanks! Haha
  21. Another little update, Ive tried driving it for the first time in a while and it's still good. Drives well in all gears but shifting while driving is a little finicky. The majority of the bodywork is done, things remaining: fill in little odds and ends like the front grill, temporary mirrors (not sold on the "Porsche mirrors"), connect front lights and tuck em away, tidy up the engine bay, make door panels, secure the front end a little better. Phew, it's getting there!
  22. Looks like a start however I agree with Meyers, a car this size you could easily have independent suspension (and I know you can make suspension ). Also the front seats are far too forward and if you're going for realism the engine is too far back. Normally in mid engine Rwd the engine sits just Infront of the rear axle. Also if you could gear your connections between the gearbox and the wheels/engine it will be a lot stronger. Also for your gearbox have a look at 8880 as it's gears are in the correct order. If you want a very well proportioned framework have a look at Didumos framework for his hammer head build. I hope these help, not trying to discourage just trying to help get you in the right direction . I believe this is your first attempt at a supercar? I'm very curious to see how this turns out, if it turns out anything like your @Offroadcreat1onsit'll be great!
  23. Well I'm glad I was able to help and it looks like you solved your own mystery! Sometimes your only option is to tear it all down and figure out the weak point!
  24. @Kmuffin surprisingly only one, however I did a lot... A lot of bricklink orders and still had to borrow a few pieces (extra wheel arch) from my brother lox! @Sylvian thanks! I'm glad you like it so far. @technic_addict @Aventador2004 as well thank you guys, appreciate it. I'm glad you think I'm at that level, but let me get this build done before you make your final decisions @technic_addict I'm not entirely set on them either, I kinda threw them together to test out the door mechanism and then moved on but it is something I plan on correcting! Haha thanks, front ends are always the hardest! I've messed up myself on early mocs
  25. Definitely the most clever and unique Lego technic bike I've ever seen! Very well done and very clever solutions!
