Before someone asks what you're all thinking, No, I have not abandoned this project! I am very sorry to have had nothing posted in way too many weeks, but I was incredibly busy, and traveling on the weekends as I advanced through the finals of cross-country, up through Nationals. Anyways, to make up for missing all that, here is a good progress report. At one point, I had a partially-working, totally unfinished chassis. However, It was not built to my satisfaction, the suspension was poor, and the steering had way too much slack in it. Not to mention the gearbox.... And thus, I took it apart and I am now starting fresh. Front suspension will be simple double wishbone, there is simply not enough space at this scale for uneven arms. But anyone wants to prove me wrong, feel free to do so. Rear suspension is mostly theoretical for the moment, I will need to tinker around with connecting the gearbox to the differential, and the transverse engine above the axle. Very tight space, not much room to work in. I do like the way the distinctive front bumper turned out though. Photos: [WIP] Ariel Nomad Axle 2.0 Please give advice, C&C, etc. Cross-country finishes December 9th, so I'll have more time to build in the coming weeks. - Leonardo da Bricki

@Didumos69 If there is space, you could put a flick-missile pin with the bar facing towards the rack. Slip a 1/2 pin over it, and that should hold it really well. I've done this before, and usually need pliers to pull the pin off. It makes for an incredibly strong construction. @kbalage Based on the size, gearing up would reduce performance here. The L-motors wouldn't have the necessary torque.

Awesome! Can't wait to see how this turns out. Did you modify the rear axles? They look different...

Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure it would fit with these hubs. Good to know, I just might try those out today.

Very cool model. What system did you use for the rendering? It looks incredible.

Thanks for showing this. It's a bit large for most of my builds, but maybe in the future this will be handy...

It's done! Incredible model, love how it shows much of the mechanical innards, but at the same time is sleek and aggressively styled plane. That front view...

Love the looks of that Mack truck! And the B-model is one of the best ones ever! Will definitely try to get this one. The rally car... Looks like an expensive parts pack. Nice to see the new colors and those flex axles but... Come on! Lego, add something, ANYTHING other than double-wishbone suspension! Fire truck is junk. Nothing against it, just not a good model. What the heck is the orange thing on the hovercraft/ferry?! Not worth getting this set, IMO. Though it does have that curved pipe in orange...

Its not an AT-AT! Great build, first one of these I have seen motorized. Good work! -

Really like the build, "The Hobbit" is one of my all-time favorite stories. IMO, I think you focused a little too much on the rockwork (which IS excellent!) than the rest of the build. The ground on top is nice, but there should be less of a straight line, with a bit more variance across the cliff. The trees are cool, but seem out-of-scale, almost comical, compared to the rest of it. Nitpicking aside... Good luck in the contest! Will definitely watch for the other entries!- 6 replies

Looks good, neat functions. And... SPLIT instructions?! I think I will pick up one of these for sure! Interesting to note, I wasn't too fond of the sail pattern, but subtle inclusion of the gear patterns is nice. -
Very cool Sherp. I like added functions, specifically the diff lock, even if it is only on the rear axle. Good work!

Incredible performance from that little beast! Can we have a belly shot? And what were you planning to do with the steering? I have also tried to miniaturize it, but didn't have much luck.

Great mech! Love the positioning you can do with it, you should make a second and have a fight! Personally, I think the wrist-mounted weapon is too bulky, perhaps a shield would work? Or maybe have it carrying a rifle of some sort. Or a machine gun.... I am way too into this, aren't I? And if you are happy with it, who should complain?

Awesome build! Very simple styling, but that brings out the details, especially the roof. Love the garden with gazebo, and the BB-9E body does make a most excellent flower pot.- 54 replies

Great performance from this truck! Love the simplicity of the design, it has what it needs, nothing more, and it works really well!

Cool build, it looks perfect! But lime is my favorite... How much travel does the suspension have? -

Looks pretty good, though I think solid doors would be better, IMHO. How well did the axles hold up under stress? In the photo above, it appears to be sagging in the middle.
