Leopard 4x4
Leonardo da Bricki replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I remember that old topic, I wanted to try something with that suspension set-up, but I haven't had a chance. Love the design of this monster, it has impressive performance, great speed, and the color scheme makes my eyes water. Good work, and welcome back!- 15 replies

Pretty cool build, even if the subject material isn't that interesting. I do like the design of the facility though.

Excellent van! The use of system bricks for the roof and hood is great, it looks much smoother and is much more seamless than if you used Technic parts.

Awesome! I like the cockpit much more now! Another pair of the mini panels to fill the gaps on the tail would probably be good...

Ford Mustang GT 350-H
Leonardo da Bricki replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've been following this on your Facebook, the chrome looks amazing! Love the fact that tuning is possible with the model, I'll definitely wait for the book! -
I like it. It's a good use of the pullback motor, and is a great vehicle to model. One thing to improve would be the cockpit-area shaping, IMHO.

Since I have seen the light photos, I'll say this: much improved Lego! On to specifics... 42079: Looks like a nice little set to pick up, FORKLIFT!!! it has some dark blue panels on the back, I'm interested in how the lifting mechanism will work. 42080: What an ugly megablocker!!! Color barf for the ages here! Other than that... Cool appearance with the 8 wheels, more pneumatics is great, those curved pipe parts are in black on the bumper... what the heck are those yellow things above the saw?! Probably worth getting this set on sale. 42081: First impression: AWESOME!!! Love the insectoid look, there is a camera arm AND a drone, giant bucket, more Claas tires... What's not to love?! Probably the price.... 42082: BIG! That's the first thought I had when I saw it. It's cool to have this giant telehandler, red/black is a nice change of colors, do I see a V10 engine back there? 4-wheel steering, new 3x7 frames in red, I think I see the BWE turntable quarters in black... Overall, a cool set. Now for the price reveal... Flagship?... Better be impressive to top all this. Crossing my fingers it will be a McLaren supercar of some sort. Sorry for wishing.

I don't actually own a pullback motor, but since rubberbands are allowed, can I use them to make the equivalent of one pullback motor?

An interesting discussion to read through. I'll add my voice, and just say that I think a mix of the two works best, looks best, and is best. Flex axles are used to round out anything, like fenders and windshields and bumpers and whatever else, in order to give a nice, and accurate shape. Then, a few panels are added into the model, their purpose is, with the rectangular ones, for use in the chassis as reinforcement and support. The others are used to artistically fill in some of the larger gaps, and to add details where needed, like on a spoiler, or as part of the grille, or something else. The overall result is a model with distinct lines, one that is aesthetically pleasing, and hints at the functions inside, whether through exposed gears, a visible engine, a driveshaft, or some sort of linkage among it's bodywork. And as a last note, I sure as heck wish Lego used more flex axles in more colors, I cannot afford them while trying to get through college! $5 a piece?! What is it?! 14K gold?!

Very nice 8x8 vignette! All the qualities of Mirkwood are executed well, especially that lovely tree.
