Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I tried pricing out a large Blacktron modular building with over 1000 parts (that's minus the 700 parts for interior details). It cost over $220 according to PAB standard, and still needed $60 of older parts from Bricklink. Then I tried a Bricklink for almost everything but the window panes, as nobody had that many. In all, it was much cheaper to do the latter method - it wasn't even 200 for the whole thing, maybe 180 before shipping and taxes. For some things, Bricklink loses out on (rare parts in large quantities) but in most cases Bricklink is cheaper than LEGO. -
I tried putting the site in my address bar and got a error message that the site didn't exist, so I'm not holding out much hope.

Finally finished after a month of Bricklink heck*, this ships are Blacktron 1 versions of a classic Star Wars speeder design is mostly taken from set 75204 - Sandspeeder, with portions taken from other snow-based versions of the type as well. All this is wrapped up in a new black and yellow paint job with a trans-yellow windscreen from 75414 - The Force Burner Snowspeeder. I call this ship type the Avalanche class snub fighter, and they will be going with my heavily modified Renegade set and the rest of my Blacktron 1 MOD's. *I would have had this done two weeks ago, but one of the orders reeked of smoke in a really major way, so I had to reorder the parts from two other stores. Rear view of the two ships. This type of short-range fighter is usually assigned in massive quantities to defend critical planets with Blacktron bases on them, whereas the much more capable and deadly Buzzard type is usually for capitol ship escort duty, and can take on much bigger vessels with only a dozen or so fighters. The inside seats two figures. Thoughts on this newest addition to my fleet?

General MOC-Discussion, WIP-Help, and Teaser Thread
Murdoch17 replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in LEGO Pirates
It's more like a floating lunatic asylum, to be honest. Glad you got the references @icm! Thanks @CaptainMoore I don't know about any real ships with white hulls (I'm way out of my depth here - I'm a train builder usually!) but as I already have those parts, it seemed like the cheapest option!- 315 replies

General MOC-Discussion, WIP-Help, and Teaser Thread
Murdoch17 replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in LEGO Pirates
I was bored today, so I recolored and remade the pirate ship from set 21322 - Pirates of Barracuda Bay - into a Bluecoat ship with brick-built sails which I then named the Hawkeye. The Hawkeye is commanded by Captain Ben Pierce, a man who has come to despise war despite being master of a warship. His crew is comprised of First Officer Johnathan McIntyre, an ex-mountain man / trapper from North America who just wandered onto the ship in a drunken stupor one day but has natural leadership skills, elderly quartermaster Sherm Potter, grouchy ships' surgeon Emerson Winchester, helmsmen O'Reilly (who has a keen, almost supernatural sense of danger and when things aren't right), along with quite a few other oddballs. NOTE: If you are a fan of old TV shows from the 1970s / '80s, you might be able to spot the one where I got all these names from! (some names are slightly obfuscated, though) If built in real life, I would need to take parts from my green pirate ship, which wouldn't be that difficult as it was dropped last May when I moved. Time will tell if this will ever be built, though.- 315 replies

a tram AND a steam train in CITY? I've got to pinch myself, I must be dreaming. ....OUCH... Ok, I'm not dreaming! Here's hoping for new train parts!
-
@danth Audiobooks, The Cursed Child play / book, the upcoming TV show, Fantastic Beasts prequel films prove otherwise. The Wizarding World is still relevant, for better or worse. The MULTIPLE theme parks and studio tours across the globe prove this.... heck, Warner Bros. actually shipped a steam loco of the same class as Olton Hall 5972 to JAPAN to masquerade as Hogwarts Express for the studio tour there on long term loan (4920 Dumbleton Hall, to be exact!) I think the franchise is doing just fine among kids while being "old". Back to topic, here's my unpopular opinion: I'm sick of people dismissing others for no reason beyond their own personal bias or experiences, despite evidence said dismissive people are wrong. This goes beyond being just a LEGO fandom issue and goes into every facet of modern life.

LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!
Murdoch17 replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There's an interesting extremely deep-dive article on Brickset today about all the SW advent calendars, just in case anyone hasn't seen it yet. It's a bit long, but well worth a read. -
The site was totally unreachable a minute ago. Server 500 errors for every page I could try. Also, just before it went down - the avatar pictures stopped loading again.
-
Just started today for me. I'll let you know if i get another one!
-
How about the internal server error (error 500) messages? I just got another one of those, that makes three in five minutes.
-
Pictures hosted on EB (avatars and such) are not loading at all, and i keep getting Error 500's this morning. just letting you know @aFrInaTi0n! EDIT: and as soon as I post that, it fixes itself. weird!
-
No currently-running modern theme except for CMF's (and maybe Creator?) uses only prints - they don't have anywhere close to the printing capacity for printing EVERYTHING @Dolor.
-
according to @aFrInaTi0n in another topic, it's a known bug with the activity feed and everyone is having that issue. Also, virtually nobody visits profiles to read about MOC's AFAIK - they visit profiles to follow other users. You have posted the thread in it's proper place of the SW forum (I checked, and it is visible there) so you've done good so far. People will see your MOC's (96 people have so far!) and most users don't comment on anything so don't feel like a failure or something if you get no comments. I hope this info helps @jrs.
