This is just brilliant. Even without the steering mechanism it's a good design. You obviously put some time and thought in this and the final product is simply superb. Brick on!

I'm getting an overdose of horsepower here. Very good job at making these so recognizable! Time for a little street race...

I'm a farmer driving a normal 4x4 Chevy and I always get a laugh out of trucks like this - and the people who drive them. You really nailed it! I'm not familiar with all the "bro" speak and it all comes across quite funny to me. Very good job, bro!

Wow, that's a serious collection of Style & Speed! The Viper, KTM, Pagani, Maserati and old GT40 are instantly recognizable. I don't think you could make them any better in that scale. The "rocket launcher" exhaust tips of the Huarya are very well done and the photo of the GT40 in the first post looks just like the old shots featuring a wide-smiling Carrol Shelby. I'm pleasantly surprised to see the MC12 considering it was overshadowed by the Enzo, and the colors are unique. The ACR variant is just about perfect. And the X-Bow is brilliant even if it's not well known. Excellent work!

Wandin Valley IGA Supermarket & True Value Hardware Store
Captain Dee replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
Very good so far. It looks very realistic and all the "missing" details will surely bring it to life. Keep it up!- 14 replies

This is just lovely. The decorated roof really stands out but it's just so well detailed inside and out. The modular design is good and the base, while simple, looks great. All the people and accessories really bring it to life. Excellent!

That's a very good fire station and should be fun for your children to play with. The truck is nice too - it could be an official set (all of it!). Have fun building!

The supermarket is beautifully done and really looks good with the rest of the display. Keep it up!

Mark, your projects never cease to amaze. The vignette looks great in those colors and the arched windows are nice. The photography for the story is incredible. The pikes look laughably long but the scene is very good and I especially like the base. The big diorama is just beautiful. The base, varying vegetation, water, rocks and trees are all superb and the army is a good colorful addition. Oh, and congrats on getting your book published! In the tech age some people may think it's silly but I think it's hard to beat a good ole book, with the photos presented just like the creator envisioned (vs the homologous single-pic presentation of most online sources). Excellent work as always!

The concept of an innkeeper/blacksmith is certainly unique and the details of the forge are nice. However, I would like to respectfully suggest that the entire scene is better suited as a blacksmith's forge only. The inn is small and doesn't have much detail, but if you look at the image titled "the mastersmith and his shoppe" it all looks like a reasonably sized forging operation. Regarding the painted bricks, I don't have a problem with it, especially if your collection is small (I've never done it) but purists won't like it. Again, the forge is nice and without any text or title I'd assume that's all it was. Keep on building!

Those bluecoats of yours are some well-armed fellows! I suppose this could be a remake of the old Harbor Sentry. The rigging is pretty good but the bowsprit isn't really needed with that sail plan. Do you have more ideas to build?

[WZ15: E12, HC] Amrakect Bloodbath
Captain Dee replied to Jakorin Swiftsword's topic in Guilds of Historica
First of all, the story is very well-written. The build is very nicely done as well. The thick walls, arch and roof all look terrific. The texturing of the walls is nice and the trees are a good addition. The double base looks great and the posing looks appropriately tense. Very good overall! -
Whoa - that's a lot of firepower! Three cannons might be a bit too much. Let me rephrase what I said earlier - if you remove the wheel you could place the stern cannon midships. If you had to keep the wheel you could move it back. The rigging looks much better and the bowsprit is far more appropriate. As Captain Braunsfeld said, this is improving. Keep it up.

Very good color scheme - light and dark tan are beautiful together. The overall design is solid and the black roof is nice. Those torsos really look good in that setting. This is a fine addition to your previous builds. Keep it up!

[WZ12: H12, DK] The Surprise Attack
Captain Dee replied to Brick Man Studios's topic in Guilds of Historica
Excellent build, Brick Man Studios! The natural features are all very good, especially the tree and the water. The fort and raft are well done and the minifig posing is good. Do my eyes deceive me or do I see a brown morion?! Custom I suppose? Very good job! -
[Freebuild] Chapter 1 - The Blood-red Dragon
Captain Dee replied to Sir Gillian's topic in Guilds of Historica
This makes an excellent start to a story - some action, fear and suspense and a very good scene to match. The vegetation looks thick and lush. The scale of the trees fits the scene well and the different poses are great - and the sweating head is perfect. The depth of view in the fourth photo is superb. I'm anxious to seek more. Keep it up! -
[LDD MOC] Liberty/La Liberté - 1st rate ship of the line
Captain Dee replied to Dunkleosteus's topic in Pirate MOCs
Simply astonishing... yet again! These big LDD creations look remarkably realistic. The stern in particular is superb and the lines and colors look excellent. Now excuse me while I take another look...- 50 replies

For a microscale this is built very well even if it isn't specific Pirates material. The paddle steamer is just brilliant! The other ships are nicely done as well and it all adds up to a busy little scene. Good job on the lighthouse and windmills too.

Artizan, your colleague knows how to work a camera. Excellent depth and focus even if the set is standard. Anyone else happy to see this thread come back to life?

Very energetic and good presentation. The target is very good. Remind me not to tangle with those guys...

That's a beautiful, vibrant, colorful market. The cobblestone base, buildings and merchant stands are all very good. I especially like the design of the blue building; the windows and doors are brilliant and the decorated top looks good even if it is grey. The irregular arrangement adds to the cluttered market look and the fountain looks superb - nice use of the mdf 4x4 rounds with the center hole. There are too many details to name them all, so I'll mention the potter's wheel, the various candles and the orange tree. Excellent build!

Phred, I agree completly about the BSB. As a child I actually liked the SES better but the BSB can play more roles more easily. I don't own either one but I do have the big IFS. Choices, choices.

I think this is the best Lego shipwreck I've ever seen. The shapes, colors and textures are just about perfect. The different greens of the wreck make it look wonderfully aged. There's so much detail I could pore over the pictures for hours. The fact that it's a galleon with gold onboard adds to the lore. The vegetation and animals on the seafloor are also very good; I especially like the use of the lime-green vines as seaweed. The base is plain, but who cares? Sebeus, you've wowed us again!

Dr_spock, I'm fully aware of what you're doing with JJB, but still... anyone who can survive 365 days of your torture is one tough cookie. I don't "get" Star Wars, never have and never will - so you have my permission to keel-haul the scurvy lubbers!

Saw that one coming, Mr. Phredit! As for the question... hmm. As a child I couldn't decide whether I liked the Eldorado Fortress or Imperial Trading Post best (among non-ship sets at least). EF had an unmatchable charm that hasn't faded after all these years. The ITP was bigger and had more minifigs and cannons and that lovely merchant vessel (not quite a ship!) but just couldn't quite match the appeal of EF. As for the ships - boy, that's tough. If I had to choose just one I think it would be the first Imperial Flagship because of it's smooth, sleek design and the fast rigging. Still, it's a tough call and the iconic BSB is hard to overlook. I wouldn't vote for 10210 IFS - it's large, full-rigged, and looks reasonably well but I'd never call it charming.
