  1. That's a nice little inn crammed with details. The sign is good and the texturing on the roof is excellent. I like the chandelier; it's simple but effective. Nice build!
  2. Your counter matches nicely...the base and especially the ground look very similar. The oil leak, fire and smoke are all very good; this smoke effect has become quite common and looks more realistic than many forms of brick-built smoke. The minifig expression and posing match the scene well. Good job on a small build!
  3. The ground looks dry and cracked and the road (nice curves) looks very well-textured for a desert setting. It seems decapitations are getting very common...
  4. Captain, you sure are wasting a lot of oil lately! Again, the hat and pump are both good and you've got a serious conflagration going on there. The smoke is well-built too. What's the fate of the soldier? Cook him?
  5. That's a beautiful building, Captain. The columns are nice but the red roof really stands out. I like the statues on pillars and the fountain surrounded by flowers is very good. The golden staircase is brilliant. The booths on the side, back wall and gate and the tan and gold walkway are all nice touches. And there's plenty action going on. Good build overall.
  6. This is a lovely composition. All the features - water, docks, wall and arched door - are nice and of course the forced perspective is very good. The posing is done well too.
  7. Your Ship of the Desert is an interesting concept and well-built. The colors really make it stand out and you've crammed in a lot of action. I like the cacti and large number of spears; they're ready for anything. The minifig posing is also very good.
  8. The base and building are both somewhat simple but they still look pretty good. The road is well done. I like the arched windows - the brown frames always look good as an accent color. The wide, open window is a nice feature as well. Plenty action going on for sure. Overall nice job.
  9. That's a nice setting for an intro with some varying terrain and just enough detailing. The tree is basic but looks good and your custom "Wolves" look great. We see so little action from the faction; I look forward to the rest!
  10. Robuko said it best - "inventiveness and creativity". The giant figure commands your attention and I have to really force myself to focus on the rest. The fountain and statue in the middle form a good focal point and the structures behind it are well-executed. The decorated arches on the sides and the use of white and green together are unique touches among so many tan builds. I like those flares in the front; they're a natural fit. "A nice bench to watch the battle from." Ha! So dry and understated. Just sit back, pop a cold one and watch the heads roll by, huh? This definitely has a unique look, and I must admit it took me a while to warm to it. Good job overall.
  11. For something that was "thrown together" the ship turned out pretty good. Those colors go together nicely and the pirate ship sails really look good like this. The figurehead is huge but obviously that couldn't be helped considering what it is. I don't think I've seen the bow/stern element elevated at the helm like that before and I'd like to see it from behind. It certainly works from the side. The shields are a nice touch too. I really like your dock/pier. We don't see enough of them and all the boxes and minifigs really liven it up. Water would be nice but we understand. I read the story but the second scene is self-explanatory; good job with the build and the photography. The facial expressions are great. Keep it up!
  12. Kai, that's a nice little mobile fort. The concept is unique and the firing mechanism looks great. The pearl gold cones make perfect bronze tips; is that how you view them? The horse team is arranged well. Posting all the detail photos was a good idea. The base and plants are nice touches. Good story too. "Neat-o!"
  13. The wall structure is pretty basic but the jumper plates add some interesting detail. I like the slope brick cobblestone even if it's nothing new. The cage design is very good and stands out well...and I got a good laugh from it.
  14. That's a very good wall and doorway and I like the colorful base, which is unique. Good use of the CMF princess - I'm surprised we don't see her more often. The crowd effect is represented well.
  15. For some reason this strikes me as funny (a good thing) and I think it's the posing. The mummy figs look like they're about to be anhilated while their attackers look cool as a cucumber. I like the colors and details of both the war machine and the base. Nice job!
  16. The lighting gives it a moody feel. I like it. The interior is pretty good and any use of the prospector hat is fine by me. That army just keeps growing...
  17. The gardens are very nice and fit the look of the region perfectly. I like all the different forms of vegetation and the architectural elements are nice too. The geometric tiered outer section is beautiful and I also like the tiled floor. That's some serious action for what would usually be a very peaceful place. I pity the man in the water and I hope the woman escapes...Very good build overall.
  18. Nice little scene. The building/shack is a colorful touch. If they keep coming that rapidly the army is going to be huge. But where are they keeping all the new uniforms? Haha. As always, nice base. Studs don't have to be ugly.
  19. Ha! A little humor never hurt. Good job with the trebuchet. The base is nice and you've really crammed the action in there. I know what it's like to rush something and then goof it up. I guess those soldiers "learned" from their mistake too...although in a slightly more permanent manner. Good job and keep it up!
  20. Your macaws are beautiful and very life-like. The third is my favorite but the pose of the first is very good. We need a few of these in the Pirates forum...
  21. Every cannon in my collection is a shooter...unfortunately! I just never have liked them, mostly because the pin down the center of the barrel looks so weird. I realize many people (children especially) play with them but the shooting mechanism makes them more fragile. I do like the current color, though, and I can live with the shooting function. My biggest gripe with the cannons is the incredibly weak clips on the carriage/base. Attaching the barrel the very first time causes stress marks on the clips. Remove the barrel and reattach more than a time or two and the clips might come off with it. But back on topic: all shooters for me, and I have about 80.
  22. Whew! That's a lot of action! And yes, I did read it all - it's very well-written (and more than a bit violent...) As for the build itself, it's beautiful. The trees are a nice colorful touch and the style of the building is nice and unique. I really like all the dark earth tones in the base as well. Good job!
  23. I agree fully with Mister Phes on this. This index is full of useful material and as a new member I can't emphasize enough how important it is to be able to quickly and easily find old subjects that are still relevant. If this isn't pinned it will disappear very soon. The Pirates forum currently has one pinned topic; Guilds of Historica has 11 (!!) which leaves room for 19 other topics - and, despite the far greater level of activity there, no one is complaining. I don't think losing one more spot on the front page is going to ruin the experience for anyone; however letting this disappear guarantees that new members will continue posting topics that already have well-established posts.
  24. "Nothing too special", huh? Okay, the near edge of the rocks is really jagged but otherwise this is a very nice scene. The sloping terrain, rocks and vegetation give it a lot of detail and the wagon is terrific. You have a sufficient amount of action and that pool of blood is huge! (I think he's dead...)
  25. I like the roadbed...it looks rough and worn. We've all seen those hats used before but it looks particularly good here; the shape and black color truly looks like oil, whereas the blue hats don't really look like water. The "oil" on the ground looks perfect, reflecting the surroundings just like the real stuff would. The tower looks hastily erected - an intentional depiction I suppose? I must get one of those Incredible Moving Cactus - maybe it's a soldier in disguise! No, seriously, the green color is unique and I don't think I've seen the bush in that color, either. The scorpion is a nice colorful touch as well. As for the action, well, it looks kind of lopsided. The face-down soldier pose looks very natural and it looks like his comrade is about to join him. Good job overall and keep on building! (Not that you really need the encouragement...)
