  1. This is an excellent remake of a classic. It's instantly recognizable and the colors look very good; I wouldn't have thought the red would look that well but it sure does. The lower of the two turntable-mounted cannons looks superb in its circular enclosure. I would have preferred a tiled dock but the overall build is too good to complain. The Eldorado Fortress was my favorite of the classic land-based sets and this is another fantastic remake. Keep it up!
  2. The base is beautiful... and I just might have to steal that tree... LOOK BEHIND YOU!! [swipe] Seriously, the setting is just lovely and the flag colors are perfect. Nice build!
  3. Another fine build, Dzoni90! Your smooth, clean style is easily recognizable. The architecture is very nice and the white and grey really look good together. I like all those elegant arches and the false windows are lovely. The vegetation adds a little more life as well. Those officers sure have some fine quarters. This just might be my favorite exterior of yours. Keep it up!
  4. Very good composition. The rocks, greenery and of course the dragon all look excellent. The cave is pretty good and the base looks nice. For some reason this reminds me of a storybook with the terrified knight running away. Your son should have fun with it. Very good build!
  5. Neat little colorful scene! The base is nice but the mosaic floor is superb. I never thought I'd say this, but... the lavender background actually looks pretty good. Good job.
  6. I didn't leave a comment earlier because I didn't want to be the first one to mention the above - but the organ is simply beautiful. Music is always welcome - unless you're about to be done in by it. Good idea and nice design.
  7. That's one of the best uses of the separator I've ever seen and the whole design is very good. You've gotten quite adept at building these large animals. The head in particular looks great. Keep it up! BTW, there's a thread somewhere about creative uses for the brick separator and this should definitely be added to it.
  8. Nice two-layer build. The top looks great with the different textures and remains but the bottom seems kind of sparse in comparison. Good idea nonetheless!
  9. The serpent looks positively nasty - well, all but the big Bambi eyes, anyway! Good job with the microscale. It would make a good subject at normal size too... The towering rocky base and circular border look nice as well. Good job.
  10. Ooh, lovely colors and architecture. This is very unique and full of details. I'm somewhat ignorant when it comes to parts - where did the big pear-shaped dome come from? The posing and action look good and the first two photos are great. Good job overall.
  11. Simply astounding - again. I don't know why but before anything loaded I just had this strange feeling that it was going to be something from MassEditor. With all the guerilla action a big, beautiful build like this is refreshing. The base is neat and clean, the stairs are smooth and inviting, the plants and flowering trees are nice, and the main structure is just brilliant. The walls, roofs, railings, doors, lanterns, disc spire - it's all wonderful. All that's missing is some soft music in the background. Occasionally someone builds something that is just about perfect and this is one of them. Amazing, superb, fantastic! Brick on!
  12. The building looks pretty good and the texture of the street is nice. The minifig posing is excellent. Flowering plants are always a fine addition. Good job overall.
  13. "Oh no! Not the frying pan! I promise I'll - " [CLANG] Madea is in the house! Very funny story and a fine build to match. The overall design is unique and the colors are nice. "An Egyptian themed wedding" Haha! Apparently the hyped-up chimpanzee has been watching too much Ace Ventura. Seriously, the first photo is brilliant. You could post it by itself with no title or text and everyone would get it. Very good job!
  14. This is a lovely composition. The surfaces are well-textured, the trees are nice and the building is good. The rocks look nice and solid and the surf is great. There are enough details to keep viewers occupied for a while. As already stated, the transition from beach to trees to solid rock looks good. The seagull is a welcome touch and of course the minifigs look great. The photography is very good as well. But who says Bluecoats are unfriendly?! Very good job.
  15. Imagine that! I was just lamenting the fact that the brilliant RH400 shovel didn't have a proper truck to load... and one drives up! This is simply excellent. The scale is BIG and it looks just about perfect... from all angles! Very good design! Yeah, a 797/B/F would be nice, but this is superb by itself. Now I want to see a 6090 or 6060 shovel in the same scale...
  16. Death by chair... how tragic. Did his, uh, drink have something to with his stumbling around? As for the other scene - nice ice! Oh, and the flowers were so thoughtful of him. Or maybe he got them for the centurion? Interesting take on the challenge.
  17. Suddenly this challenge has turned into "Mimic the Movies!" The bread cart is beautiful and I like the smooth cobblestone. The columns add an interesting background. The surprised guard and flowers look good too. But where's my loaf?! Good job overall.
  18. The first scene is nice and funny in a silly kind of way. I like that roof technique and the door is good. As for the second scene, well... "I believe you are blushing, Mr. Big Artiste." What is this, Historanic? I'll try to force myself to focus on the rest of the scene to give you a fair critique of... uh... "the bed - I mean the couch." Seriously, "these are rather good." Okay, enough. Both builds are pretty solid and the infamous pose is done perfectly (well, almost) and I truly do like the couch. But "what are you, some kind of artist?" Good job overall!
  19. The structure makes good use of color and texture; unfortunately TLG doesn't offer enough different greys and tans to produce a more natural range of earth tones which would improve this type of design. I like the rough textures of the base and I'm glad to see someone brave enough to use the large barrels so prominently. Good job with the minifig posing, although I can't help but think it would be hard to hide a crossbow in a barrel! Good solid build overall.
  20. The concept is unique, the build is well done and the presentation (specifically the perspective) is very nice. Whoever built that tomb had a poor opinion of tomb raiders! The spears with the entangled skeleton look wicked and the posing is perfect. Good job making a solid grey surface look interesting. And the chrome gold looks fabulous on the floor - perhaps previous thieves dropped it as they fell. A few coins in the pit would look good too but this is a good build as is.
  21. I give this set an "average" vote. As an adult I realize I'm well beyond the target audience but even so it just can't match something like the old Eldorado Fortress. Overall it's more like the old Imperial Outpost - too small to be a fort (even if we apply the illusion scale from shipbuilding) and it looks absolutely nothing like a fort (unlike EF, which at least looked the part on a small scale). Yes, it has some useful components and the minifigs are nice, but the name simply doesn't match the actual design. Then there's the modular aspect: everyone keeps mentioning the outpost (which is appropriately named) and the fact that they were designed to be connected into something bigger. Ok, I get that, but I'd like to ask one simple question: what happened to building sets that work well as standalone builds? The outpost works reasonably well by itself, and the fort perhaps a little less so, but when I connected them together it was still quite obvious they were two separate sets, and they don't form anything spectacular when combined. We all know that TLG wants several different price points within a theme, but I can't help but think they could've made this into something a little more impressive without blowing up the price. Big raised baseplates may be gone in favor of modular designs, and there's nothing wrong with the concept, but good designs are far more important and this is average at best. I can see lots of young boys having a blast playing with it but I wouldn't put any of mine on display. I bought several for their parts, built one and immediately tore it down. I'm sure it will sell reasonably well, but I'm equally sure that a slightly bigger, slightly more correct fort would sell well, too. Again, I vote average - but at least we have the theme back again! Fetch aft the rum, Darby!
  22. Well... I'm always a bit apprehensive about commenting on bumped topics but this is one of those occasions that allows newcomers to comment on something excellent so I'm going for it. This is easily one of my favorite Lego ships (top 5, perhaps) and I remember being delighted (as a lurker) when it was first posted last year. The color scheme is beautiful and the overall design is simply superb. The piece count is within range of the "mighty" (haha) 10210 IFS, so why can't TLG do something this good? I'm certain that Pirates-theme fans would clear the shelves if something this good was available as an official set. Sebeus, this is truly a masterpiece. It looks just about perfect to my eyes and should definitely be on prominent display somewhere. Fantastic!
  23. Beautiful little scene! The dock, rocks and tree are all very good and the presentation is superb. I like the design of the dock in particular and the dark green slopes in the rocks look very good. Nice job overall.
  24. Suddenly you've gone all nautical on us - which is good! The boat looks good and I'm sure it was fun to build. The rocks look fine and I don't see any big problem with the lighting. It certainly looks like a nighttime operation with the black background, which is appropriate for intercepting smugglers. Good job overall and a nice companion to your other shipping/FP build.
  25. Excellent composition! The tall ship is just lovely and the forced perspective is pretty good too. I think the first photo is better for overall presentation but the second is a good detail shot and shows the small boat better. The pirate minifig and accessories looks good in this setting; the black chest is a welcome addition. One bit of advice: the FP would be more convincing if the bowsprit of the ship wasn't hanging over the edge of the base. Other than that this is very good!
