  1. Lovely setting, Captain. The gardens look good and both monuments are nice. I like the tan steps and the blue and grey tiles look good too. I see you reused the small fountain. The angle of the tall monument really changes the look of the scene for the better. I'm happy to see someone use the black treasure chest for once. But seriously, haven't they trained those ostriches not to trample the flowers?! And I didn't know TM's existed back then... they were more advanced than I thought! The flame thrower looks diabolical too. Good job overall.
  2. The first scene definitely reminds me of Princess Bride although I probably wouldn't have guessed it. I assume her response to the proposal was "As you wish!" I can't identify the other but it's a nice little scene too.
  3. That's a busy, colorful scene. I like the gold in the street and the curving staircase is excellent. The posing and photography are superb. And the man with the wheel is one well-armed dude. Good job.
  4. The base and rocks are nice but the tree really improves the setting. There's definitely a lot of diversity in that crowd. And this is one of the few non-violent faceoffs between warring factions. But as shown I must admit it looks like a desert island at a glance.
  5. Yes, the roof is great. But the chimney, walls and interior are good as well. I would like more windows but I understand the furnished interior might not easily allow it considering the size. The details on the base are nice and the atmosphere seems inviting. But it seems the man in the CMF actor outfit woke up on the wrong side of the bed... Overall this is very good!
  6. I like the texture of the tower and the interior is cute. But the concept is downright nasty. Head first into a fresh heap? From several floors up? Maybe that's listed under "benefits." Good execution of an unusual idea!
  7. I really like the overview photo. A little more vegetation wouldn't hurt but it's a nice scene as it is. With so many people into army building it's surprising we don't see more builds like this. It looks like the Redcoats are ready for some serious action. Good job.
  8. Does anyone else think this is what the Brick Bounty should have been? It's very close to a galleon with the elevated fore- and sterncastles and the beaked prow. The sail plan isn't that of a galleon but it's a very nice vessel regardless. The red/black/gold has grown on me and looks good here. I think the hull proportions are quite good; adding more midsections would obviously allow more firepower but it would also significantly alter the look and not necessarily for the better. This is a fine addition to the Pirates fleet. Very good!
  9. This is a simple build - but I like it because it illustrates your well-written story nicely. You've really crammed the action into a small base. Multi-sided scenes are usually quite a bit bigger and it's surprising to see how well it can be done on a small scale even if it doesn't include a lot of fancy techniques or details. Nice job overall.
  10. The wall is good but I really like the minifig posing and the vegetation. The photography is nice as well - the first photo truly does enhance the scene. And I also like the unique border. Good job!
  11. Very good story and nice builds to match. The crane scene looks appropriately terrifying and is certainly well built. But I like the other scenes too. And the chairs are brilliant! Nice job.
  12. The overall build is good but the posing really makes this a busy, interesting action scene. The man on the roof is a nice touch too. And I like any scene that includes a well-dressed woman. Good job!
  13. As the others have already said, the microscale is very good. And the cookie monster looks pretty good too considering the small scale. Nice job.
  14. Nice scene, Captain. It seems to fit the limited space pretty well. The posing is good and the story is humorous. You make good use of that head for the HC fellow. And the two musicians are a nice addition. But where have I seen that DK man before? Hmm... could it be someone impersonating... you? Haha!
  15. Corweena - you're really selling space sets to buy pirates? Arrrr!! Welcome aboard, matey! Seriously, the old ships will make a nice collection if you get all or most of them. Sounds like a good plan to me.
  16. You used some good colors and textures but I'll echo previous remarks by saying it looks a little incomplete. I do like your use of the large barrels. It seems most builders would rather connect two large halves than use the real thing. The street is very nice. Keep on building!
  17. That's a pretty good army - with or without the mirrors. And the base looks nice too. Good counter.
  18. Excellent! Both buildings are very good. The red actually looks pretty good with white and gold and the white dome looks great atop the tan building. This makes for a beautiful collab. There are just too many good details to list. I really like the smooth cobblestone effect (rather than plates) and the interiors of both buildings are wonderful. The minifig posing is good and you make excellent use of color throughout. Very good!
  19. Dzoni90 - I understand; besides, it was unsolicited advice and those parts are rare enough that Bricklink and perhaps Bricks & Pieces are the only way to acquire any significant number of either. It's a good project as it is. Keep on building!
  20. The concept of inverting colors is interesting although I must admit I had never considered doing it with Lego (I've done it with landscape photography but that's all). Another cool effect is to remove the color (making it black and white) and then invert (making it, well, white and black if you know what I mean). But for the benefit of other viewers you might want to restore the missing second photo!
  21. The base is very well-textured and all the different minifigs are nice. The sack is a good accessory but it would stand out better in medium dark flesh. All this talk of food is making me hungry...
  22. The runestone definitely looks better in one color and the custom minifig is good. The cloak and fur look more appropriate for such a cold environment. Good job matching the hairpiece color to the facial hair on both figs. Apparently this doesn't tickle everyone's fancy, but I think a friendly environment like EB could at least offer a few words...
  23. That sure looks like the frozen beyond. The lighting wouldn't be good ordinarily - but for this scene it reminds me of night in the far north, when everything is gloomily lit. It also reminds me of the first Narnia story for some reason. Anyway, it's a nice litte build. The snow and ice are good and I like the drooping flags. Pity the poor soul in the ice block...
  24. Well, Dzoni90, I'm back... again. I'd like to offer one bit of constructive feedback. I mentioned that I would like to see just a little more detail so I'll share one idea that might fit the available space. Compare the outside diameter of the standard cannon to the inside diameter of the medium dark flesh 4x4 round plate with 2x2 hole. They don't quite match but it's reasonably close. Stack a bunch of those round plates to make a decent clay cannon mold (yes, it will be open straight through both ends, but it can't be helped - and large cannon molds were usually made in 2 or 3 pieces anyway, so it could just be the muzzle end or central barrel section). If that won't fit the available space you could try the standard 2x2 round plate in dark orange or one of the tans to make the mold for the smaller custom cannon (no mdf for that piece, unfortunately). Again, it isn't perfect but the axle hole gives a small opening for the mouth of the mold. This is just a suggestion... so feel free to use it or ignore it! Best of luck with your LUG display. (Oh, btw - Phred, stop smirking, haha!)
  25. Captain Braunsfeld, I put a lot of stock in your input, so allow me to explain my slightly different take on this. When I spoke of cohesive design I was referring to the fact that Dzoni90's building style is recognizable, but perhaps not constrained to a specific time period. The enthusiasm I expressed previously was simply my reaction to a very rare subject matter. It isn't perfect (no small build could possibly be technically correct) but it works and it looks very polished. I like it.
