  1. These "baseless" builds are an interesting break from traditional building. The boat is nice and the different rock formations make it look like he's really working for it. Apparently he already lost an oar-tip to the rocks! Good concept.
  2. The tower is excellent - like an elevated miniature blockhouse. It looks great in solid brown. The boardwalk is simple but effective and the base with plants makes a good swamp. And the concept is very imaginative! Very good overall.
  3. Very nice build with a lot of good techniques, details and decorations. The windows are very good and I like the big archway. There's a lot of action and the speech fits the overall presentation perfectly. Good job and keep it up!
  4. Yes, this is a very good scene. Despite everything being square it's very neat and clean. The building looks very good and the awning is a nice touch. The camels, railing and water trough look great in that setting. I really like the road textures - are the brown rounds supposed to be camel dung? The helmets make a very interesting border. Very good build.
  5. I think the terraces are lovely and the final pic looks great by itself. The colors and textures just look good in that arrangement. But of course all the minifigs really bring it to life. Very good even if it is small.
  6. The boats are cool, the crops are nice and the mummies truly look terrified. The little dock looks good and the whole scene is full of action. And it's just a bit humorous too! Nice job. Now excuse me while I take a shower in that frightfull stuff...
  7. Considering the small size that's a very good composition throughout. The cluttered tomb looks lovely - unless that's an oxymoron. Without much color externally the eye is just drawn right in. Very good job inside and out.
  8. Yow! This is getting vicious! The buildings both look good to my eyes and the tall one certainly looks Asian or Oriental - both the design and the colors. Despite their small size the trees look great in that setting and the new colors fit in very well. There are enough minifigs to have one heck of a knife fight. Very good job!
  9. Excellent and funny idea! Faithful to the original with the half-barrel. The minifig posing is good and I like the layering of the base. Simple but effective build.
  10. The black base works very well - it displays the build without drawing much attention to itself. The crops and reeds look great and the scarecrow is superb. That tiny little boat looks perfect for sneaking around. Nice job!
  11. Somehow it doesn't really come across as a dragon to me but it definitely looks nasty! The body and legs remind me more of a big cat shape without any wings but still, it's an impressive design... and I haven't built a dragon, so I can't be too critical. The red background is perfect and showcases the white brilliantly. And that rider is one brave dude!
  12. Nice use of the trans light blue URPs (what I call all those big prefab rock or rock-type pieces regardless of type). They definitely look like solid blocks of ice. Those guys are serious. I really like the palisade in the last series of pics. Good imagination!
  13. The water certainly looks great and its smoothness matches the setting. The base is simple but tidy and the fortifications and vegetation look good too. And there are enough dwarves for some serious action. Good job!
  14. Good job with the grainery and the boardwalk/dock is excellent. The base is pretty simple but you've got enough vegetation to keep it interesting. Barrels always catch my eye for some reason. And you have a lot of action going on for sure! Good job overall.
  15. Beautiful scene! The layout is eye-catching and the tall angled building makes a nice central focal point. The walls are good and I like the doorways, especially the big irregular door beneath the governor. The fountain is nicely done and makes a good point of interest out front. My only real criticism is that there's a lot of dead space in the road; adding several more well-posed minifigs would really add to the urgency and action suggested by the text. Other than that, very good job!
  16. Everything doesn't have to be huge or overflowing with details and it's good that you mentioned your budget; many people will view this topic, yawn and move on but we all need reminding that building with a limited collection is far more challenging than building from an enormous volume and variety of parts. You have a very good start and I really like your positive attitude. Keep that and you'll do well regardless of how many replies you get. My biggest concern isn't the inclusion of the inn but the fact that it doesn't really look like one. See what you can come up with and keep us posted!
  17. You're back! I just discovered this thread a month or so ago and it's been quite the adventure. The throne is nice and the thronging crowd looks great but the architecture and lighting are the best. The arches and windows look lovely. Is the grey all built from boxes?! You have a tremendous imagination. Very good job! Oh, I might add that the Alice in Wonderland scene is my favorite.
  18. This is truly beautiful. The different colored plates look good with so much texture and different forms of vegetation. The house is excellent and you've captured the look of a small farm very well with the stone-walled goat pen. The trees are simple but look good in this scale. But best of all, the story and build match perfectly. Both are superb, and for once the vivid visual imagery of the story is met if not surpassed by the build. Excellent job by both of you and keep it up!
  19. Another bustling marketplace! The complex arched wall is nice and the dome looks good. The scene is packed with details and the tree, while simple, is a welcome addition. I suppose the missing pearl gold round tile is intentional... And all those pies are making me hungry. Very good build!
  20. Hmm, where have I saw this before...? Seriously, this is about the most faithfully rebuilt counter yet. Good job with the crumbled wall and crowd posing. And the base is again very sharp in white.
  21. Jacob, you may think this is "uninspired" but I think it's fine. The tower is nice and the landscape looks good. The water effect is very good and looks realistic with the layered colors. And the minifig posing looks great as well. "Uninspired"? I wouldn't call it that. Good job overall.
  22. This would indeed make a very nice official set. It's slightly more detailed than the current fort or outpost but otherwise it would fit right in. TLG probably would only include 3 minifigs in a set this size but that's not a concern. It has enough to be a playable stand-alone set without being too big and expensive. Whether you meant to build something that could be official or not, good job!
  23. You had me with the title! The O&K RH400 is my favorite shovel excavator and this is the second fully-functioning Lego design I've seen (the first was on MOCpages several years ago). It looks incredible even if it isn't built strictly according to the real design. I'm surprised there's been no talk of specs on the previous pages, so if you'll allow I'll fill the void. It was engineered by O&K in 1995 just before they were bought by Terex. Syncrude in Canada bought the first four machines which were red and white and had approx. 85 ton payload capacity. The design was thoroughly redone, increasing the size, weight, power, and capacity of the machines. By the time Terex sold its Mining Division to Bucyrus International in 2010 the machines were equipped with 68 cubic yard shovels rated for just over 103 tons payload! The two 16-cylinder, 60-L Cummins QSK60 engines produced a total of 4500 hp (3360 kW) and the optional twin electric motors produced 3200 kW, good for almost 270 tons of breakout force and more than 360 tons of crowd force. The machines weigh some 1080 tons (980 metric tonnes) and were the biggest in the world. Cat bought Bucyrus in 2011 and renamed the machine 6090 FS before announcing that it was developing a bigger, 1400-ton, 85-yd monster with hybrid tech called the 6120B FS (120 metric tonne payload, or approx. 130 tons for 3-pass loading 400 ton trucks). But back to the Lego models - just incredible! It looks great in these colors too. Oh, I might add that the full name was "Terex O&K RH400." Terex always kept purchased names alive. Great job everyone! Now someone needs to build a Unit Rig MT6300 or Cat 797F 400-ton haul truck to match!
  24. Truly an excellent model of an iconic truck. The lifting rear axle is nice and the complete rig with the Volvo loader looks great. And the yellow/black color scheme looks good for all three parts. Brick on!
  25. Hanging all the aircraft really adds another dimension to this lovely scene. The different positions look very realistic, but I hope they don't run out of fuel waiting for the airport to be built... Can't wait to see it!
