  1. It looks good, the axles seem to be very robust but they might not have too much articulation, but that is not a problem if it is not going for serious off-roading, the chassis, dumping bed and fenders look good as well, i hope someone could be able to continue this project in a future, thank you for sharing it.
  2. It looks very cool, the chassis seems robust and those 2 L-Motors will surely give enough power to it, the body is very nice too, good luck in the truck trial.
  3. Very cool modifications, the differential MOD looks good so as the L-motors and the SBrick, they all seem to work well, i am wondering if we will see a MOD of this model with RC motors and an SBrick soon, that would be great, i am looking forward for more MODs.
  4. Pretty impressive work, i really like both the drivetrain and steering design, very compact and yet very very clever built, i really like this Mog, nice work.
  5. Here is a very simple example of what the portal axles do: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f1/NormalVsPortalAxle.svg Another thing to consider about the portal axle (in addition to the great explanation made by Blackbird), is that the portal axles allow to increase the ground clearance without necessarily using bigger tires, which is good for medium and large vehicles where tire size can be a problem, that is why vehicles like unimogs or pinzgauers, despite having not too big tires (at least the standard versions) have a huge ground clearance similar to other large sized trucks.
  6. Hey, sorry if i am ignorant, but what are those comments about RIP?, what happened?
  7. Hey madsen, would you mind to use planetary rims on it?, like the ones used by efferman, they are really robust and because they have gear reduction inside them they should save a lot of space for the locking differential, i made an axle like that some time ago, and i think that it could at least give you some inspiration: http://bricksafe.com/files/imanol/other-models/Planetary Axle.lxf I hope this helps you somehow, i am also looking forward for that Zetros, i already saw some pictures on FB of the chassis and is looking really cool.
  8. Great to see you back here, ZBLJ, that truck looks really cool.
  9. Nice review, good idea to put them in the same topic, that way is easier to find all the reviews; i am happy with the new parts, looks like a descent addition for such small models and they may be very useful, this telehandler looks very cool, the 4 wheel steering is very nice so as the other functions like the boom extension, i am very happy with this model, hope to see more reviews soon.
  10. Hi Lucullus, welcome to Eurobricks, i must say that i think that your suspension looks very cool, everything seems cleverly designed, i like how you make the McPherson geometry, your axle design is very interesting, i am also very amazed with those gears in the first picture, is that a gearbox?
  11. Thank you both, i have made some upgrades, now the seats use 8L axle with stop instead of the 4L one, and i have putted some half bushes on it to avoid it from sliding off: Old: And new: I think this setup should be enough to hold the back part of the seat in position, and i think that this upgrade was worth, thanks Didumos.
  12. Here are the seats, you can see they are grey because blue is too overused, they have some studded elements to get that rounded shape that i really liked to have, they also have more simple connections with the cabin, so they can be decoupled more easily: i was able to make some kind of adjustment system with a worm gear, very simple but should work properly: If you have any suggestion for improvements i am happy to hear you, well, actually read you . Now i will start to make the central console and the other elements of the interior of the cabin, i think that i will be able to put a vario-pilot steering system after all.
  13. I am as scared as you Elysium (Welcome to Eurobricks by the way), and something to judge about the previos videos comparing the Lepin pieces with the Lego ones, is that looking closely you can realize that most of the Lepin pieces are like 50% thinner than Lego ones, which means that even when the material has the same strength, the pieces don't, look at the beams and the pins, they are like painted paper sheets, and thinking that these poorly created pieces could mix and infiltrate between original Lego ones makes me be scared, sad and very very angry, because i know there will surely be people who will sell these cloned pieces, this is a very bad situation, lets hope that this can solve soon.
  14. That is amazing, is impressive how good it is looking, simple but still very clever, the model is coming up very well Effe.
  15. That is really good, i think both parts may be very useful in some builds.
  16. Oh my god, i thought the same for a moment; i cant believe the amount of details that it has, the chromed parts, the engine, i hope to have a motorcycle like this one in a future (a real life one), it is a very impressive recreation with a nice shape, this model and the real motorcycle are real masterpieces, very nice work.
  17. Another reason that i could think is in the crankshaft, maybe there might be something causing friction in it, could be dust, or a misprinted and/or misaligned axle which causes all that friction.
  18. Exactly, and i think that even red could work for a "private" version too: http://hq-wall.net/wall_preview/14689/mercedes-benz_unimog_4720209.jpg
  19. Try to clean the sides of the pistons and the inner sides of the cylinders, it has happened to me , sometimes the moving parts get covered from a very thing layer of dust which is almost invisible, and this dust sticks very hard with these parts, i recommend to clean all the parts with soap and water and then use a towel to remove the remaining dust, it should give the parts some extra space to move without too much friction, it has worked many times to me and i hope it works as well to you.
  20. Hi Jon, welcome to Eurobricks, i must say that i think that you have made a very great work, i had made a modified base which had 2 L motors, each one driving a track, but i am very impressed how you came up with that sub-tractor system, i hadn't even thought of using one, maybe you would need to make some modifications for the upper superstructure to make it fit and rotate properly, but i think it is worth for such great modification, and i think that the extension of the tracks is a great modification too, i knew that they were too short but for some reason i never changed them, and looking at your modifications, i imagine that they must work very well, i am very impressed with your current work, for being your first post in this community, i think you have given a big contribution, and a lot of inspiration for further modifications
  21. some more advance, i think that cabin exterior is finished, the mirrors and some other details are finally placed: I have placed the air intake (with that weird shape o the middle part) and the exhaust pipe: Now i will start to make the interior, the seats may be only 2 and dark grey (because blue is overused), and i will also try to make them with some kind of adjustable mechanism, something similar to seats that Didumos has made, but a bit smaller and more simple, and i will also make the steering wheel system, and i am thinking to make it with vario-pilot (that is why i am thinking to place only 2 seats), here is the first sketch (i now it barely seems like a seat, but it should look better soon): And here is how the Mog looks with 9398 tires and extended mudguards: Basing in these pictures, i think that the Xerion tires should look ok on it, at least they wont make the truck look too silly IMHO.
  22. Looks really nice, i think that the color depends of which will it be thought to be, if it is going to be a service truck, grey should match, but if it is going to be more like a personal or recreation vehicle, then white, by the way, have you tested it with blue?
  23. In the case you are going to use tracks, there are some things to consider, for snow vehicles, the tracks need to be wider so they wont sink in the snow, and because they are going to be wider, they will need higher torque than wheels, so don't expect the vehicle to be very fast, another thing is that tracked vehicles shouldn't need a a very long transmission system, like axles or gearboxes, which could be at your favor, you would only need to put the motors with a gear reduction and make them drive the tracks directly, so you will save a lot of space in there, and depending of the size of the model and tracks configuration there are many possible options, in my opinion, if you only have 4 L motors, you should make a tracked vehicle with one track on each side (like a tank) and with one motor driving each side of each track, batteries would be placed depending of the terrain and inclinations (which is very easy to do), i am interested to see some updates, i hope that you can complete your goal.
  24. Hey dpkong, some of the ideas that you have shared are actually well pointed, but the problem here goes further more, the fact is that there are already people who sells already sorted parts for a certain MOC, and in my opinion, it can be completely acceptable, for example, the Avtoros from Madoca, i could build it, then disassemble it and sort the parts, and i could sell them to anyone, there wouldn't be any problem, it would be the same as selling a sort of random parts or a collection, and i think it would be ethically right to give the credits to the original builder (in this case, Madoca), when it comes to sell Lego parts there is no problem, just consider the previous words when selling a model from other builder; but, the problem with these clone brands is very different, because they are first: stealing the idea of Madoca, his hard work, developing and experimenting with the model, and second: they are creating clone parts, which is another problem, so, what i think that they should have done before everything is to consider these points: if you are going to make and sell a model based in another one's creation, you must give credits to the original builder, selling the parts is not a problem, because everyone is free to get their wished parts, but the design belongs to the original designers, that is what they should have considered first, but these bring us to a new problem, the cloned parts, because if you were going to sell the sorted parts to make the model, they should be original Legos and not clones ones, that will affect the prices of the original Lego parts, because this clone brand didn't needed to make all the developing, testing, logistics, marketing and all the factors needed to sell a product, it will cause price drops and the original Legos will be worthless, that is the real problem, but in the case that they were going to make different parts, for example another kind of tires or motors or pieces which would be compatible with Lego and would actually enhance the Lego models, then i am agree with them and they would expand the possibilities with the models and i can accept that; these are some of the thoughts i have about the things they should have done: First: In the case that they have wanted to sell parts to make the Avtoros, they should have first contacted Madoca and ask him to let them sell the parts and the model itself massively, and because they would be payed, an small fee to Madoca wouldn't be a problem, that would be the first step. Second, the parts, if they were going to sell the parts needed to build the model, they should have buy them at Lego and they shouldn't make their own parts, that is the right way to sell a model. Now, you said some fans have asked for the reissue of the 10179 and Lego hasn't done it, even in this case it is not acceptable, that is why it is called "COLLECTION" set, because they are thought to be rare models, and of course they are going to be expensive, think of this like the cars industry, there are very old and classic cars, Fords, Cheverolets, Dodges, Cadillacs, Ferraris, etc, they are limited and wanted for a lot of people, and when you want to get one, you wouldn't like to find that it has low quality parts which don't belong to the car, you wont want to buy a cheap, cloned car, which might look the same, but people will notice it, they will know that you got it for the easy way, without making a sacrifice, the same happens in the case of the models, if you want to get a collection and/or old/expensive model, you must be ready to pay a big amount of money for it, so you will get an original model with box, stickers, instructions sheets, etc, but in the case you wouldn't want to get all of these rare and expensive extras of the models, you could get the parts at Lego stores, or Bricklink for example, so at least you would get a recreation of the model, but you must make sure that the parts are original Lego and not copy brands, and the same with the cars, when you buy an old, expensive and rare car, you aren't going to put a low quality engine, or decorations, you will put things with the same or even with higher quality for it, and even you would add extra parts to enhance the car, for example, a turbo, or an stronger transmission, bigger engine, etc, this would be accepted by the people, because you are not putting a replacing part because it is cheap or easy to get but you are actually putting improved parts to make it even greater. Thist is my opinion about this problem with this brand, and is my point of view, all of you might be agree or disagree with everything or with only some parts of this, and i accept your own thoughts too, we all have similar and different ways to see something.
